As someone who's been in SL since 2007, but never considered moving beyond a system avatar until a few months ago, I agree with @Theresa Tennyson - start with Senra Jamie. Not only will old skins in your inventory work, but many of your clothes will as well if you make use of alpha layers. (See my post here for info on Alpha layers and other Senra-related stuff: ) I recommend looking through that entire thread, keeping in mind that the Senra avatars have been updated so some of the complaints and issues highlighted during earlier posts have been addressed, including the problem with eyebrows moving when the avatar blinks, the overly-prominent pout, and the need to use a workaround for the fingernails and toenails.

(I'd already worked on 4 or 5 alts, so had figured my way around the LeLutka basics and knew what bits were modifiable via the basic EDIT SHAPE sliders with the non-system heads. What took the time was swapping out 4 different heads to find one that gave me the profile I wanted.)

Looking for a rustic alternative to an Adirondack chair? Noveny is selling these 3 LI chairs today for $50, PG or A. (The coffee table with linked decor items is 5 LI, $50.)

A lovely but high-LI item is on sale at Bricolage - this 16 LI daybed has texture change options for the 2 larger pillows and the throw, $75 for PG or A. The two faded carpets are 1 LI each, $75 for both. The 2 LI botanical image is also $75. (Buying whichever sofa and the other two items separately is cheaper than buying the fatpack.) I like the sketching and reading animations. Oops! Correction: The carpets are $75 each!

Another favorite store that's currently re-organizing itself is THS - The Home Store. Here's a new item for you rancheros, or others with rustic-style homes - not a sale item, the entire ranch console table set costs $249. The wagon wheel is 2 LI, and the table with all linked decor shown is 11 LI. (The lamp works, and I think Annabell is adorable!) For those of you with more refined tastes, the crates of champagne are $199. As to sales, in time for Chinese New Year, THS is offering these vases - peacock in 2 colors, 6 LI $100, fish in 2 colors 5 LI $100. (I bought these a couple of years ago - by unlinking and removing the flowers, and shrinking them, each vase was 2 LI, 3 LI when linked together.)

Group gifts at Finca - group is free to join, all gifts $1 each, refunded. The laptop, 2 linked photo frames and stack of books are 1 LI each. The umbrellas are 2 LI, boots with tulips 2 LI, rolled newspaper 1 LI. Note that this is a NEW LOCATION for Finca, but some of their inventory is still at the old location. This link should take you to this weekend's sale items - either Finca's owners live in the Antipodes, or they're trying hard to coax summer into an early start! The daisy vases are 2/1 LI, $60 for both, and the strawberry cake is 1 LI for the single serving, 2 LI for the cake on the stand, $60.

At Nutmeg - each piece can be bought separately for $60, or the complete set for $240. (I haven't bought this, but I think the dangerously-placed books are probably only available in the full set.)

More Victorian-inspired decor is on sale at Pitaya - these boudoir screens are $75 per frame color (grey/bronze/gold); each includes the 3 images shown. They're 11 LI, though. The 6 LI blanket chest is also on sale for $74/color (dark/natural/light). It would appear that the pale version, shown as the demo model, is only available with the fatpack - $156. Move a bit to the right and you'll see the decidedly non-Victorian outdoor movie set - individual bits $60 (PG or A). (Fatpack listed as $600, so no bargain there!)

It's been a while since I've been to Hideki - a place to go if you're steampunkishly-inclined. This huge bookcase - minus 2 items that are sold separately - is only 3 LI $100. The chaise is 5 LI $80. Other bits and pieces are priced at either $80 or $100, and the complete set is on sale for $499.

It's a good weekend for audiophiles - Merak has these items on sale: record player 2 LI $75; decor groups with headphones or wine 2/3 LI $150 for both; box of records 1 LI $50 - or $150 for the full collection. Meanwhile, at David Heather you can find these handsome headphone stands - they are 4 LI, though. $75 per color. Also on sale here are a men's toiletry bag, grooming tray, valet tray and cufflinks box - each is 2 LI, $75.

if you like purple and have the LI to spare, Petite Mort's Love Shack collection is on sale again. The chair is 5 LI PG single and couple animations $99; the settee is 10 LI PG and comes with the 2 LI coffee table $99; the bed is 18 LI PG $99. The rug set includes round, square and rectangular, 2/3 LI at size shown, $50. (The floor lamp is a ridiculous 12 LI, and has poor LODs.) Also on sale outside the store: the Pomona rattan chair and side-table (6/2 LI, PG) $77; the monstera plants (5/4 LI) $77; the framed tarot card posters (1 LI each) $77.

Vespertine has a couple of novelty planters on sale this weekend. The taco is 2 LI and the cat is 1 LI, $50 each.

Back in September I posted about my efforts to recreate Frigga's system avi facial features (on the left) - particularly her nose, inspired by Barbra Steisand's - with the newly-released Senra Jamie head (middle) ... and lamented that she looked more like Bob Hope than Barbra. Since then I've had a go with the LeLutka Noel head (on the right) but wasn't at all happy with the result (though I had successes with other avi's, posted in the LeLutka Christmas gift thread). So, I tried a couple of demo's at LeLutka, and wound up buying the Zora head. I'm very pleased with the result, so once again a thank you to the Moles, because without the introduction to mesh heads and bodies with Senra, I doubt I would have taken a step in that direction!

As of Tuesday morning (2am SLT), this 15 LI daybed is still on sale at Dreamland Designs for $75 PG or A.
