This is so true. I've yet to actually set anyone on fire in RL.

My evidence says otherwise. There are many copies. And should something ever happen to me, like spontaneous combustion, the whole world will know...

Slow down, fashionistas!  I'm right with you, I have longed for cloth dynamics and collision detection for over a decade now.  Major animation programs like LightWave have had them for over 20 years.  But doing this in an animation program that can take as long as it likes to render each frame is something very different from doing it in a simulation that has to run in real time.

    Darn it.

I didn't have the heart to burst any bubbles. Thanks for letting them down easy.

Hi everyone, I hope this topic is appropriate here...  I just want to share something I discovered. :)

I am relatively new in this incarnation and don't have much (or any) Lindens at the moment.  I'd like to find free stuff in Marketplace but when I do so I am spammed by a ba-zillion demos.  I found that I CAN do this in marketplace by using the same syntax as in Google searches.

For example, if i search in Marketplace for 'Gifts' and then sort them by price, lowest to highest.  I get spammed by a ba-zillion demos.  However, if I change my search to 'Gifts NOT demos' (the capital letters are important), then i get rid of the demo spam.  (Some still do sneak in but this gets rid of most )

    Happy shopping!!

Most demos are no copy/no mod in my experience so I make liberal use of those two filters to eliminate all demos and gachas.

I rarely go on SL now, I somehow lost interest, how do you feel and what do you think needs changing

I lost complete interest for over 4 years and didn't even bother logging in. Nothing has really changed. Stores closed, new stores opened and that sort of thing yes, but, not the people. Right now the only thing that is keeping me logging in is 6 little projects I set for myself. I bought 2 inexpensive skyboxes and 1 house  and I'm in the process of furnishing and remodeling them. What I am doing requires copy/mod on everything I use because I am linking everything. The goal here is to fully furnish and decorate while staying under the prim limits for a 512 (175) and a 1024 (351), so 2 versions of each. I'm getting close to finishing the first one so that leaves 5 to go.

Why am I doing this? So that if, by some miracle, I can afford land again I won't have a lot of work to do. Just rez one out, place it where I want it and done*!

When I'm done with those 6, I may buy another house and do it again so that I have two houses and two skyboxes and can change at a whim.

Perhaps you could come up with some similar projects on your own. ^_^

*Of course, the perfectionist in me is always tweaking things so I'm never really finished when it comes to creating a home.

I've always seen emojis as a kind of emotional shorthand that satisfies the innate human need to look at people's faces. I think SL's gestures are the emoji of Second Life but aren't that effective because no one can see people's faces when they make gestures. Most everyone walks around in third-person view and aren't focusing their cameras on people's faces. It'd be better if someone could make a gesture (to a targeted person or to a group) and cause those target's cameras to zoom into their face. The avatar's face would have the EMOTE that everyone could actually see. For example, if some guy saw a beautiful girl then he'd type out '/nosebleed at girl' which would cause that girl's camera to zoom into his face which would show a funny nosebleed animation. I guess it could get pretty annoying to have your camera taken over but it's just an an idea that could be refined.

I will retain control of my camera and everything else I already have control of in SL, thank you. :P

The seagull is a much-maligned bird but with good reason, because it tends to fly in, make a lot of noise, and crap all over everything before it flies off again.

On the other hand, when you live near the coast (but not on it!) you don't normally see seagulls unless there is a storm heading your way off the ocean. :D
