  1. See though AA isn't meant to be followed by the book. Take what you need and leave the rest. So no need to modify it at all. Even Step 9 where you make amends attributes what that means to each person. It isn't an absolute. Expand Travelers? Are we sure Luna doesn't mean AAA? 😹 LOL poetic attempt FAIL!
  2. Sometimes it is really because one realizes another is harming themselves by their own thoughts and attitudes. The problem is though that informing someone is really hard to do in a way that doesn't appear in some ways self serving. My brother had a great saying about all this...he said "Don't forget when you're pointing a finger at someone there's 3 fingers pointing back at you".
  3. Sure, doing an inventory of where one could do things better is a good start and really only possible to do honestly when one starts to understand that others love them unconditionally and they will not be rejected or abandoned because they discovered some not so nice things about themselves. One needs a good support structure when going on such a journey that is why I am a firm believer of self help and 12 step groups. Self love only comes after a while when one is on a journey of self improvement and the realization comes how others loved that person first, in spite of their problems and inconsistencies. True self love only comes after, not before. One cannot hate themselves for years and then suddenly make an about face and start to love themselves unless it comes externally first imo. It might just be the realization that one was loved all along and wasn't acknowledged but just like a newborn is dependent on the love of the mother to grow and thrive, we as adults require the same. Yes, although there are some things I don't like about AA, or wish they'd modify a bit, I've seen people change and have a fulfilling life again due to the love and support they felt in AA from fellow travelers..
  4. Hehe...a friend on Discord loves to joke with me about this.. How does the following make you feel?
  5. Nope, I am hoping it is closed. The Title and subject are toxic. Start another thread on peace and love. I'd rather title it "optimal ways of relating to others in SL and on the forum". Would you like to start it? Only fair since you're suggesting the additional thread..
  6. Nah, you are late to the thread and hijacking it. Another 10 pages now at least. Seems to me you are trying to hijack the positive turn the thread took....but whatever...
  7. I know nothing of this person who describes themself as a succubus, but I don't think this necessarily means that someone is "dark" nor that identifying with "darkness" necessarily bad. Darkness is part of life. It can represent mystery. Excessive "light" can be bad too, such as toxic positivity, which does not allow people to express their real thoughts and feelings. Yes, agree...darkness is a part of life, and some want to come to terms with that darkness and play the role to the hilt in SL. For me, evil is when you take from another without their permission, and harm them. I've known people into the 'dark arts' or 'dark magic' in SL and they think it's fine to steal from others and harm them. I don't know if that's the case with the woman mentioned.
  8. I learn more from the darkness then the light unfortunately. The darkness I equate with pain and those are the lessons I remember the most and do the most to avoid in future. I think it's good to see what you might have done wrong, as long as it's tempered with self-love and forgiveness. Sometimes it's difficult to achieve that balance. From my experience, when existing more in the light of love frequently the 'mistakes' fall away all by themselves.
  9. We do, if they disrupt the experience for all. If they just want to dance with us looking creepy we allow it.
  10. Closed and deleted would be better. Worst thread title and topic I have seen in a long time. But it's evolving into something good, Jay. People are discussing optimal ways of relating to each other.
  11. Good point, and I actually do see one such person. Not a griefer, but someone who hangs around the community frequently and advertises herself as a succubus. She appears to be leaving the dark side now.
  12. Oh no! The customer might use the product they purchased how they want to use it, and not how I want them to use it! How evil! You need to consider what the merchant intends for the item -- they often set various parameters around anything they sell and sometimes need to choose what's best for their business overall. For example, if they want to use a huge number of their landscaping items in a design and are willing to do that at a greatly reduced price if it's not mod and the parts can't be utilized individually then this is one of their offerings and they should be respected and not labeled as "greedy", "egotistical", or "inattentive to customer needs". The design of the compilation is the focus in such an item, and not the individual parts. I do think this is what Codex is referencing.
  13. Some think when you 'turn the other cheek' that you've lost power and so to regain power they must attack back in an even better way...really 'get' the other person, win the battle. In reality, the most powerful response is to not respond at all (to turn the other cheek when attacked). It actually requires much strength to do so in many cases.
  14. To reflect a bit more on your question...a very odd thing happens in SL related to the "disagreeable people" in SL (or the SL forum) Gopi is pondering on. I do a spiritual practice in SL named 'Kirtan' where we design an experience with music, dance, and text to feel a greater sense of love (Bhakti Yoga). Frequently, these very odd people enter and try to grief or disrupt the event, dressed in all black with additional menacing attire (weapons, sharp objects), attempting to look and act 'scary'. Sometimes they have RL pics of themselves in their profiles and they have these 'Charles Manson creepy eyes'. They often stand in front of the Kirtan leader in a confrontational manner, or sometimes glom themselves onto the back of an avatar. A few weeks ago someone started the dance circle moving I was attached to and so one was dislodged from me. So, I see that when you focus on love there is a certain percentage of people who are compelled to ruin it, disprove it, disagree with it. It's not all about a disagreeable person attracting someone disagreeable, but I do agree with you that sometimes this is the case.
  15. On reflection I wonder if as in how like attracts like, disagreeable people attract disagreeable people? If one is being attacked by disagreeable people, is it possible that one is attracting that to themselves by being disagreeable in some form? Hmmm...could be yes, or at least some of the time. All I know for sure is that when you don't respond in a disagreeable manner back the energy frequently dissipates. I think this might be a life lesson, or is for me anyway.
  16. Just a good test of who feels most uncomfortable with a silence and needs to break it by saying something inane. It is a great test in R/L. Scrolling up I saw the fighting and attacks against each other end after Gopi's apology, and then some though-provoking comments by Istel, Cinnamon, Sammy, Sid, Love, myself, Sabrina, and Kathlen...so not sure what you're referring to.
  17. All my stuff is mod so don't encounter this, but I can confirm that a certain percentage of people buy my assembled gardens and skyboxes so they can get a lot of items cheaply for repurposing. I feel somewhat guilty, as I use other people's full-perm meshes as well as my own in these compilations, and the customer is getting all of the individual items so cheaply. I try to rationalize the problem by hoping all their repurposed items provide some advertising out in the wild for the full-perm mesh creator. Plus, creating 'scenes' is my bliss and I don't want to give it up -- creating compilations, the design of it all, how everything fits together -- and I want to use the best content available (and that's not always my own, and I don't always have the time to make it myself).
  18. So true, and there are some who, in nearly every interaction with certain people they dislike or feel threatened by, make the interaction about "winning' via putting the other down as best they can.
  19. Interesting take -- yes I think often we do have expectations of others (an awareness of a transaction, as you say). Humans have a need to be understood and accepted by others -- the "currency". The trick, or what is likely to increase happiness in one's life, might be to seek the understanding one needs in optimal places. I don't think a forum in general is a good place to seek it, as seldom do we see the backstory of an individual, one that is often required so that we develop the empathy which leads to greater acceptance of them.
  20. It's the middle of the night and everyone is awake almost. But where is Persephone? Does she sleep or something?
