  1. "I've got 5 premium accounts so I'm saving LOTS of money :smileyvery-happy:" LOL I've got 2 myself.
  2. I've bought more than a few abandoned lots by opening case tickets for them. Lately the wait time is around 2 weeks. I've never had a request turned down, though one has to be mindful of the workload the Lindens who deal with this sort of thing must have. File a reasonable request in a sucinct, clearly worded case ticket. After 1 week, keep checking the lot to see if it's been set for sale to you. Wait a couple weeks before complaining that you haven't heard anything back on your ticket. If a case gets closed accidentally, re-open it. If circumstances change & you want more land or a different parcel, add a comment to the case that's still open. With a little patience, this is the easiest way to acquire land you want at the low price of $L 1/ meter.
  3. I also by in $10 increments when I buy lindens. If you want to save money, get an annual premium account (with a $L 300/ week stipend), collect good freebies wherever possible, & either get a job in world or sell some Transferable, No Copy items. It's possible to generate some income in-world & be careful of what you spend. Then you probably won't feel too guilty about spending a relatively small amount of money on a "game".
  4. Really? I didn't know you could wear multiple versions of the same clothing layer. I guess I have that to look forward to when I move from Phoenix to Firestorm.
  5. I think around $L 2/ prim/ week is reasonable for an unfurnished rental house, but I've rented nice little apartments for as little as $L 1/ prim/ week. You should take into account what other amenities are being provided along with the prims. Is there a functional prim counter the tenant can use? Is there a door lock that can have multiple avatars added. Is there a security system beyond just locking the door? Can the renter set their own music or video stream? Is there a nice view and/or road access? Is the parcel separate from other rental units with enough space and/ or restictions on voice & sounds that they'll have some privacy? Are there public spaces shared by tenants, such as a cafe, gardens or sandbox? Also, avoid alpha textures in your units that could interfer with a tenant's hair or furniture. My advice is to start no higher than $L 3/ prim/ week & no lower than $L 2/ prim / week. If you don't get any bites, step up your advertising. If you still don't get enough tenants, then you can start dropping the price, but never go below $L1/ prim/ week. One good incentive is to offer one free week, after the renter pays for 2 weeks. Once they get settled in, they're more likely to stay, assuming your environment is pleasant. As a landlord, you have to be really helpful & available at the beginning. Help them work out any problems they have with the property straight off. Once they're settled, they'll usually leave you alone more or less, & then you can do the same. I've been both a renter & a landlady, & I'll tell you it's work if you want to keep your units rented & break even, let alone make a profit. Especially with the free Linden Houses available to Premium members, you have to offer something special to make potential tenants choose your place over all the others available in SL.
  6. I can imagine wearing an underwear layer with a tattoo on it & then wearing a bikini or panties on the pants layer over that. Having tattoos on the tattoo layer is much nicer than having to rely on clothing layers for tattoos, but you might still have some favorite tatoos on clothing layers. If so, you'll be glad you have multiple clothing layers to choose from when wearing them.
  7. Thanks. I just went to the Hair Fair & loved it. That's why I was asking. The new tattoo layers are cool. I'd like to see more of them in one place. I had a few freebies from Gugu Dada, which were really nice. Just now I was looking on SL Marketplace & found some good-looking, inexpensive makeup from Glamorize too.
  8. Is there a Skin & Make-up Fair in SL? I'd love to go to it if there is.
  9. If a piece of clothing is modifiable, you might be able to change the flare in a shirt layer or open the front of a jacket layer. You can also layer some clothing much as you could in RL. For instance, I had a skimpy blue halter top that showed a bit of nipple. When I added a red bikini under the shirt layer, I got a cute red, white & blue combination. (Pale skin for the white part.)
  10. I heard that magaprims only create lag when an avatar colides with or walks on them. If they're phantom they don't create lag. Newer megaprims are also supposed to be "safer" than the old Gene Replacement ones. I saw the difference smaller prims made in lag when the owners of DV8 replaced the floor in busy areas with non-mega prims. The change was immediate & significant. If anyone visited the Hair Fair recently, it was probably obvious what many avatars wearing many prims did increase lag. There were 4 regions, & I found the least populated had the least lag. Primmy hair & clothing is often scripted for resizing & recoloring, so I think that's a big part of the problem. Fighters know low-prims are preferable for reducing lag, but of course they're stuck with scripted weapons & armor.
  11. Underwater, merpeople can have caves or other types of houses for privacy. If one were to design an unadvertised skybox as an underwater environment, that would also be a private space. In a Moderate region, private bondage-play ( and any sort of kink aside from age-play ) would be just as legal as regular, vanilla sex in the same private environment. ( I think the assumption is that if one cams through the walls, that's akin to peeking through the windows in RL, so the people inside should have an expectation of some "privacy" even though that privacy is thinner than a paper wall.) @ Ceres: If you find a child avatar on your land, you are within your rights to eject & even ban them, but I don't think it would be fair to AR them unless they were engaging in sexual activity.
  12. Thanks, Pussycat for posting that link & quote. I think that's about as clear a statement as we've ever had from the Lindens about what *is* permitted on Moderate land. "Burlesque" is of course a code word for strippers, which means nudity is allowed in public in Moderate regions. It's too bad they felt they needed to use a code word instead of just saying plainly that nudity is allowed in Moderate regions, but not in General ones (unless one is dressing inside their house?). It's very difficult to try on skins & shapes without being able to see how your avatar looks nude, but if one keeps their activity to dressing & undressing behind closed doors, they're unlikelyto be reported for doing that in a General region. Apparently sex acts would be treated the same way in regards to Moderate vs. Adult regions. In a moderate region you & whomever else you wish to invite can purform virtual sex acts in private. (Though no child-like avatars may be involved, you may employ what ever animal, vegitable or mineral-shaped avatar you wish.) In Adult regions you can do all the same things publically.
  13. "Two alts is good insurance tho in case u have alt drama n one bails on you." - Yeah, my alts are always having some kind of drama between them. Right now they're not talking to each other, but one might get upset when she learns I've given the other one greater group rights. My roommate's alt was telling people that her main is a selfish pig in RL.
  14. Forgive me, Ishrara, but your post is a bit confusing. If a person is renting homes in a Moderate region, then it's reasonable to assume they'd be advetising & that those appartments or houses that are rented or owned would have sex furniture in them. The owner of that land could certainly advertise their rental properties, but not the sex beds & such inside them. Most rental units are rented unfurnished, but some are rented furnished, so they could even have sex beds in them when they aren't yet rented out. Also, a merchant is allowed to sell sex beds & such on Moderate land, as long as avatars aren't trying them out naked or with prim genitals attached. My land is a combination of public & private use. My home is also a combination of semi-public & private use. So even if I'm not advertising my sex bed or those of my renters, I can't keep avatars from wandering into the houses, without using a security system. The doors are closed, but I don't require renters to lock their doors or use security orbs.
  15. You know the "kids" at the kindergarten are really kids, so they aren't the issue. The issue is that you are on Moderate land, which allows nudity & kissing, but no sex animations in open places. Keep the outdoor romance poses to what could be viewed in a PG movie, & you'll be fine. If you want to provide sexual animations, put them indoors or provide a TP to an enclosed skybox. Then don't advertise the sexual animations, or you risk appearing to be an Adult establishment in a Moderate region, which is clearly against the SL TOS.
  16. Trying to contact Linden Labs support is actually pretty difficult sometimes. I think they're trying to make it difficult to contact the support team, so they won't be bogged down by too many customer problems. To file a case ticket, go to the main page of the website, then hover over the Help tab at the top right of your screen. (Hovering doesn't seem to work from the forums.) Select Support. From the next page, if your're logged in as a Premium Member, you'll see a box to the right. Select Contact Support from the list there. That will take you to a page that says this: Want faster support? Most questions can be answered through the search field above! Still can't find an answer? If searching our self-service support options didn't solve your problem, then our technical support team may be able to help. To create a new support request, please use the Submit a Support Case form or start a Live Chat. Support requests may take some time to be processed, but it may go faster if you describe your issue with greater detail. If you've already submitted a case on the issue, you can update it in your support history. Second Life Status - Select the link that says Submit a Support Case form. This will take you to the page that lets you submit a case ticket. Now keep this page open while you open the Second Life grid, go to the land parcel in question & copy the address of the parcel into the case ticket form. Linden representatives can address your issue faster if you include the address of the land & explain your issue briefly & to the point. If you want to buy abandoned land, let them know if you own land bordering it, because that gives you a greater claim to the abandoned land. Like any govenment worth its salt, the bureaucracy of Second Life can seem rather complated & Byzantine, so knowing the shortest path through it will make your journey much easier.
  17. If you are new, you should start being careful of how you name & store your inventory now, before it gets out of hand. Try on each piece in your new outfits, to see how they look & how they're different from each other. The tattoo layer is the one closest to your skin, then the undershirt & underpants, then the shirt & pants, then the jacket, & then any prim attachments. The jacet layer is longer than the undershirt or shirt layer, so it works nice for longer shirts that would hang over your waist. It can also be opened from the front, so jackets can open or closed The shirt & pants layer can have flared cuffs, though the undershirt & underpants layer don't. Keep all the pieces unless you're sure you won't ever want them. Especially keep any pictures of the clothing inside the folder, so you can see what the outfit looks like without having to try it on later. Then rename the folder to remind you what the outfit is & help you find it later. You might use a discription like "Blue Peasant Skirt & Top", "Sparkly Gold Gown" or "Skull Tank & Shredded Jeans". Often renaming an outfit folder will help you more than keeping the orginal name it came with. If the attached pieces don't seem to fit right, you can move them a little, but don't do any major adjustments without making a copy first. If clothing (or hair) is modifiable, you can tint it to different colors & turn or stretch prim attachements. Try doing this with freebies you don't like much at first, so you can practice on stuff you can mess up & delete. Changing textures on modifiable items is not a good idea unless you know what you're doing, because you can lose important details that you can't get back without having an orignal, unmodified version.
  18. Dresden, the hair & tats look fabulous. Don't you love how the new hairbases can be combined with different hairstyles? I had my 3 avatars go to the Hair Fair to stock up on the freebies, dollarbies & LM's to shops. I've sorted most of my goodies into subfolders for different hairstyles, tossed out alot of old hair, but still need to toss out more. The best hair I have left after this process will direct me to the shops I want to visit & possibly buy more from. Merchants be careful of what you put in your freebie packs! I might never buy from you, if you only give away poor-quality freebies, a T-shirt or a hair flower. What I really want now is a Skin & Make-up Fair. For the last 2 years my roommate has been trying to find perfect skin with perfect make-up. Now - with the new tattoo layer - we can improve almost perfect skin with the right lipstick or go from a day to evening look without having to buy a whole new skin. I can't use multiple tattoo layers with my Phoenix viewer, but I hope we'll be able to do that with Firestorm.
  19. You should try asking in Furry groups. I'm not furry, but have a house for rent that's furry-friendly. We've got a dragon living in the area too.
  20. Yes. You can abandon your current Linden Home & pick out a new one. You will always be a little bit limited in your choices, however.
  21. I had that problem before as well & also found it was tied to trying to attach a picture.
  22. "Have you lost your mind? Why should anyone ever stop pushing boundaries? You must be boring as hell... no offense." ...Dres Agrees with This. When people want change, some have to push the boundaries & risk being punished. Would you say that every movement for social change was childish? Whether it's a serious movement such as the Jasmine Revolution or just some folks on an internet forum, we all have the right to protest for change when we don't like the way things are being done. Whether the forms of protest used are "childish" or "mature" is often a matter of perspective too. Social and political commentary is often done with humor, sometimes even of an apparently immature sort. Watch "The Daily Show, with Jon Stewart" or any late-night talk show monologue, as an example.
  23. Marigold, I thought it was nice that you included a link to a YouTube video with your voice on it. This is mine, reciting a poem.
  24. Luv U Torely! I'm also guilty of fidgeting in SL. If I don't sit my avatar down I keep walking back & forth, side to side, sometimes facing the person I'm talking with, sometimes not. I think I just can't get comfortable with my camera view. I want to see how I look, how the other people look, how we look standing or sitting together. Then I'm also trying to type in the right window & sometimes pulling items out of my inventory to show them. I probably look pretty noobish when I'm talkikng with someone in SL.
