  1. That's nice. I don't care what your excuse is. Get a thicker skin while at it - it is the idea that such large Draw Distances are "normal" that is insane. I will call such ideas exactly what they are. ETA: 128m (max) is more than sufficient for Mainland/Continent/Cluster use when outside. 256m is more than sufficient for isolated Private Region use when outside. If you're using a vehicle you might turn these up a tiny smidge but really ... There's no need for what was put forth (256m for Mainland/Continent/Cluster, 512m for a singular Private Region).
  2. If you are going to go Chicken Little Mode and have such a "eye catching" header and footer to your alarmist post ... Perhaps it would be best if you did not let others know that your preferred Draw Distance is absolutely insane for any sort of day to day use.
  3. That's nice. Unless you're going to pay each and every single content creator a Game Studio level wage, sit down. Better yet, face reality: Second Life is not designed for VR. Period. End. Move on. Want a Second Life experience in VR? Build it yourself. Period. End. Have a nice existence.
  4. Funnily enough ... It doesn't quite limit your FPS to 60. It limits your FPS to your Monitor Refresh rate - which is typically 60. Mine's 144.
  5. It. Isn't. A. Linux. Problem. SL/TPVs will run on Linux. They will not run on ARM. If you're finding installation instructions for an SL Viewer for ARM, that's nice. if it doesn't work for you, it doesn't work or you may need to do some tweaks. Put bluntly: It is not the OS that is an issue. it is the CPU.
  6. No. It was not in any way within the rules - prior to the recent changes or not. It was over the line, simply existing without a lock.
  7. Necroed threads have been getting the lock regularly enough, thanks to complaints lodged before the recent changes. as noted above, the sort of thread tat was necroposted was already one that would have been locked under the present iteration of the forum. So no, it was not "allowed".
  8. Hmm, peole complained about old threads being resurrected - the moderation team starts to lock them as they come up, no matter the reason/if doing such is actually warranted. On top of this, said thread was not even in line with the rules here prior to the newest changes - what did y'all expect would happen? Yes, older threads are Grandfathered. No, that does not mean they're immune to the rules as they were before the recent change nor that one can just pull whatever they want to the front. Can we not make them potentially regret that Grandfathering?
  9. Right ... if you think that is rough, you weren't paying attention to SC/SC Mk. II. Virtual Secrets or some such. What you're thinking of is not a Forum.
  10. On this .... One - Second Citizen and its revival - Second Citizen MK. II is indeed gone. The other - Second Life Universe - was rebranded/relaunched as VirtualVerse One.
  11. I think I did say I needed to pay some attention to my Masc side. Well, here's a recently taken shot, silver fox form, in a nice suit.
  12. Yeah, what Love is stating is that there is a disproportionate focus on the importance of the Forum over the software it regards (Second Life itself). Which I can certainly see, to a degree. Nothing is being "made up" there.
  13. Yes, we would have as nothing was being done even with such actions (reports placed). Considering the thread is a catch bin for peeves and their discussions ... I'd say there's not much wrong over the last page or so.
  14. Heh, I get that even on Linux. There's a reason why I don't do certain updates unless there's more than a 'simple update to Version X.xx' for those entries ... I have a set of things I do/have to do on each and every boot and I try to keep my poor PC running for at least a week between power cycles.
  15. As a point of note/order: A topic being Grandfathered simply makes that specific topic/thread an exception to the new rules. Once such a thread is gone/closed that is it an a new one cannot now be made.
  16. Yeah ... without them gagged/disciplined/removed, the forum is suffering right now. It is one thing to broach a possibly contentious topic or lodge such an opinion on occasion. What some do is quite another and has no place in just about any forum.
  17. Yes and no. This is Linden Lab's forum. They get to set the rules for discourse in terms of topics. This has always been the case and is why third party fora came to be in the first place. None of us have to like it - I don't either.
  18. Oh for ... Yes, place the entire blame on the admins ... Sure, why not? I mean, they're the ones going around and stirring things up after all! Right ... Meanwhile, the only ones who've "won" are the usual suspects. Funny how that works, huh. Not like they don't know what the response here is going to be or how to (ab)use it as a weapon. Peeve: naivete.
  19. Ah yes, I needed a laugh today ... Making excuses for the usual suspects. Way to go ... Oh and not realizing that such topics in general simply do not go well here, with the way things are (currently) and were enforced/set up at the time goes an even longer way - like it or not, some topics simply belong(ed) elsewhere.
  20. Heh, will be a year, next month. somewhat amusingly on that, the caffeine helps a bit and coffee's actually the go to I've used for self-medication (ADD/ADHD) for a very long time. But yish - outside of that, happy metamorph is happy with this!
