Indeed. People seem to miss that the Adult region rating encompasses a wide variety of potential content and behaviors. There is a dearth of (inaccurate/mis)information out there ....

Yeah that ... Many of the clubs I frequent wouldn't bat an eye at public adult play but still ....

It was answered. People (myself included) found the answer lacking - that is something entirely different. To someone like myself, the answer to why it was shut down is rather obvious when one examines the way such things tend to go, especially here. There is no sense whatsoever in allowing people to use the forum to foment unrest, paranoia and such now is there? If I (personally) wish to discuss that further, it will be elsewhere.

Except that it did. By the very nature of the thread. Something that was only a matter of time to have happen - a thread opened to rehash a topic that was covered and answered.

Sorry. This is not OK. B bots profile scraping.

No, they do not. Unless expressly banned, an individual account can and will be able to get onto your parcel above a certain altitude. That is by design. Your recourse then is to either ban each individual account (which no one really recommends) or to utilize a properly set up, third party security system. -

What your Government advises you to do concerning your RL situations ... is rather irrelevant here. You have access controls and access to other tools to manage parcel access. Use them - it is on you to do so. Beginning and end. -

Then utilize the Access controls and a Security system as outlined in the edits to the post you've quoted. -

Solar Legion replied to Coffee Pancake's topic in General Discussion Forum
The Access Controls via the Parcel menu do not extend to the build ceiling (4096) unless an avatar is expressly banned. To manage such access one must use a third party security system. Get one, set it up properly (make sure it does not extend beyond whatever building you're managing the access for) ... and set the eject timer accordingly (zero seconds if restricted to the interior of a building). -

If your home is a skybox, get and use a security orb or similar and set a landing point on the ground or remove public access to your parcel (if you can). -

I'd much rather go by what is known than by what-ifs - at least in cases such as this. -

@Scylla RhiadraThere are differences between this and the entire RZ fiasco. The implication you've made is not a welcome one by any means. Linden Lab reacted when it became clear that there was far more going on with that situation and that it was being run by someone who was not supposed to be anywhere near a computer (convicted, malicious hacker). Unless/until the operator of this system is shown to be such ... not much outside of debating morals/ethics can be done. I'm personally not here to do either. -

Yeah, that call was recently added in and was actually linked to a few times now. -

The difference of course, is in understanding what each channel entails. -

If you're basing the first question on the web Based profiles - those are no longer in use in the official Viewer and were only an optional bit for many TPVs. Consider any settings on the Web based profiles to be null. Premium Status - like your Online Status and other bits - is script callable by litterally anyone. -

Nope, quite correct. Your opinion on the matter is just that however and you are welcome to it. -

Solar Legion replied to Coffee Pancake's topic in General Discussion Forum
My being a moderator or not is irrelevant. As for the rest - there are specific areas within the forum wherein one might be able to somewhat directly communicate with Linden Lab. This does not make it the proper channel for such a thing, let alone a feature request - which was what was being made. -

Read the prior thread and the rest of this one. Show posts by anyone you may have put on Ignore. It has been covered. I am not bothering to repost it. -

No dear, it doesn't. But do keep harping on it and pretending otherwise. -

Yet again: That information is available to any and everyone thanks to a script call. A script call that is in no way restricted whatsoever. being able to script/having the time to do so or not does not alter this. It does not suddenly make that information "private". Take it up with Linden Lab directly if you feel otherwise. The Forum is not the proper communication channel for that. -

On that whole little thread with the thread: If you're in a skybox and have not explicitly banned an avatar, they can show up on your parcel and even fly over it. The scripted security systems out there exist for this reason. -

Solar Legion replied to Coffee Pancake's topic in General Discussion Forum
In reality, it is not - that is all there is to it. Opining otherwise won't change that. Hmm, perhaps the simple fact that such information is not exposed whatsoever to such functions? Perhaps that it requires one to intercept that data or otherwise pull it from a server location accessible only to Linden Lab or otherwise Phish it? Not even remotely in the same ballpark. Now the case could be made as to asking why some of this information is even able to be accessed by anyone ... That's a whole different thread/discussion. -
Sorry. This is not OK. B bots profile scraping.
Solar Legion replied to Coffee Pancake's topic in General Discussion Forum
I would. It is not hidden or obfuscated, anyone at all can utilize the function to pull that data. Just as they can with all of the other data listed on that website. None of it requires any specialized permissions. That particular bit of information is not much different than a script pulling your online status despite you flagging it so that people viewing your profile do not see it there. -

No, it isn't. That information is available to anyone, using a script command. It is in no way hidden or obfuscated. -

Solar Legion replied to Coffee Pancake's topic in General Discussion Forum
All of the information acquired and placed on their website is available to anyone within Second Life itself (sorry folks, needing to create an account does not make it private either) as well as varied script functions. If you weren't around in the early days of the Internet and didn't learn to not put information you'd rather not be out there into any potentially "public" profile ... that is on you. -

Newsflash for those using the Web Profiles as their point of reference: as of the latest versions of the official Viewer and (some) TPVs, those are essentially no longer the official profile systems. LL went back to the "original" system which uses an in Viewer Profile. And guess what? You cannot set those options on sch profiles. Any argument made which uses the older Web based profiles and their settings is irrelevant/moot. It was irrelevant/moot for as long as any TPV still had the "Legacy" profile system intact when LL first introduced the (now obsolete) web based profiles. No setting change you made on the web profile prevented someone pulling up your profile if they could see you. As I stated in the prior thread: If you really think there's a case, go file it with the relevant authorities.
