  1. This a very informative thread about camera placement that Penny Patton put together a while ago, it may help you. http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Second-Life-Viewer/Getting-Better-Camera-Placement-In-the-SL-Viewer/td-p/714307
  2. Hi Ceka, found a few but they may not be quite the quality you're looking for. Initially I thought of Red Queen but they all seem to have bangs. This one with a hair base or even the lamb one with a hair base would look better. https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/CiarMattbrownMattolive-MS/2648697 https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Pelle-Diva-Flexi-hair-platinum-blonde-with-base/2976360 Good luck :-)
  3. You're welcome :matte-motes-smile:
  4. Hi Loren, not sure whether you're after the men's or the women's shoes. Here's the men's: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/lassitude-ennui-Dandy-shoes-silver-gears/1280325 For the woman's boots, try searching for Victorian or Steampunk boots or shoes, you should find something similar, if that's what you're after. This is what I found searching on "Victorian boots" with the filter Apparel, then Women: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/products/search?earch%5Bcategory_id%5D=66&search%5Bkeywords%5D=victorian+boots&search%5Bmaturity%5D%5B%5D=General&search%5Bmaturity%5D%5B%5D=Moderate&search%5Bmaturity%5D%5B%5D=Adult&search%5Bpage%5D=1&search%5Bper_page%5D=12
  5. Thank you Valerie and that is a great coat, I see from an earlier post you also have it in black, it looks so stylish and luxurious :matte-motes-smile:
  6. Love that outfit Venus, I'm a big fan of League. The juxtaposition of your most angelic face and such a dubious looking location gives it a very interesting edge. So many stunning pics in this thread and they just keep getting more and more interesting. Good viewing with my Sunday morning coffee. :matte-motes-smile: @ Valerie, I want that coat your wearing !

  8. I love this thread Hippie. I do remember my first moments, very well. I arrived at Help Island Public in January 2010 but first I have to tell you what lead up to it. Sorry for this being so long, I do ramble at times. My partner and I had been members of another virtual world for a few years and a couple of friends from that world left and came across SL. They posted pics on their old profiles from their experiences in SL. I was intrigued so I did a bit of research. I watched loads and loads of video's on youtube, including tutorials, I read blogs and I asked friends about it. The one thing they couldn't stress enough was how you need an AO to not walk like a duck lol. After a few months I finally convinced my partner to join with me. We signed up and arrived on Help Island Public within a few seconds of each other. We found our way to a corner and just sat down, observed and listened (I do remember being mortified that I sat on a few people on the way lol). Not long after a lady by the name of Trini very politely and kindly asked us if we needed help. We knew the first thing we wanted to was learn how to change our clothes, buy some skin and shapes and learn the basics, walking, teleporting, communicating etc. Trini gave us both complete avi's, skin, eyes, hair, clothes and shapes. She taught us how to set each other up in our friends list so we wouldn't lose each other, taught us how to TP by practicing tp'ing to her and each other and gave us a huge running start to not feeling completely lost and useless. Within about an hour we had transformed into this: I didn't think I still had this pic so thanks Hippy for giving me cause to go in to my inventory and find it, it was in my textures folder! Trini took that pic after spending a good amount of time helping us through the basics. I offered to pay her but she wouldn't accept. A few days later, when I realised the extent of effort and amazing help Trini had given us, I again offered to pay her but she refused. She just said "Pay it forward", words I've never forgotten and which I've gladly done when the opportunity presented itself. I joined the forum a month later and I have to say that I have found a wealth of information here that helped me a lot in the beginning and which continues to help me today. :smileyvery-happy: ------------- edited to fix typos
  9. Very cool Jacki and very spooky :matte-motes-smile:
  10. Love seeing all the outfits :matte-motes-smile: I ended up using an outfit from the Twisted Hunt, one of the gifts.
  11. Jacki Silverfall wrote: Both are great costumes, but for reall the Clown is the creepiest to me. Hates clowns. Me too Jacki and chucky dolls, my friend here has both. Last halloween he unleashed a chuckie doll in our garden and I ran away screaming "get it outta here, get it outta here!!!!" He didn't, so I logged off until he did :smileymad:
  12. I'll probably just go with one of these from last year, don't have the time to find a new costume :matte-motes-smile: I'm the one on the right :matte-motes-big-grin-squint:
  13. Are you sure JoJo meeroo isn't me Hippy.... :smileyvery-happy:
  14. Thank you belle dame Valerie. You made me blush, you really did :matte-motes-smile:
  15. Hi Hippie, Well a friend used to call me JoJo (everyone else just calls me Jo) and at first I thought it rather odd and for a while whenever she said JoJo I'd say yes yes. That got old after not too long and eventually I began to like the name JoJo. I wanted to use a name that I could identify with, that was easy to say and type, unlike my last name but I figured no-one would bother using my last name, funnily enough they do. When Moeleneaux came up in the list of last names, it was the only one I liked and it had a French vibe to it and I'm big fan of frenchiness, is that a word? nevermind, it's out there now :smileywink: _______ edited to fix stuff
  16. I wasn't trying to protect anyone's feelings. I thought Dillon's post was constructive in it's critque of the situation and though it appears to have bought on another dummy spit, I don't believe the post intended to do that. The only feelings or rather thoughts it should have invoked are perhaps contemplative ones imo.
  17. I didn't consider your post to be hypercritical, imo it was offering constructive criticism and it's a pity it wasn't perceived that way.
  18. Maya, it's really not that big of a deal, well maybe to you it is but it doesn't need to be. I'm not sure whether telling you this is a good idea but it may give you a better perspective on whether or not you're being "spied on". Try turning on "Show Look at". It will show you who's looking at you. You can then see if it's really something to be worried about, although it doesn't worry me in the slightest, at least you can see whether or not you're being looked at. Well, it won't always show it because those who have a good grasp on how caming works won't necessarily show their crosshairs on you so they will focus on something else and cam around. However other users, that don't have the caming experience, will be shown to be looking at you. If you're not familiar with "Show Look at" try searching for the term in the forum search field and you'll see some theads on it. You may want to turn it off though when you go to a club or other event with lots of people :smileywink:
  19. Hi Valentina, there's so much to do in SL. You can find ideas in this forum under the "Events" topic. Hunts can be quite fun, here's a page to the list of current hunts. http://secondlife.com/destinations/events/1 I spent this weekend at the Twisted Hunt http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Upcoming-Events-and-Activities/Twisted-Hunt-is-about-to-start/m-p/1034083/highlight/true#M764 . It's difficult but fun and you may even end up meeting a few people to share some laughs with. It finishes on the 30th of September so be quick if you want to find al 207 items before it ends. Another thing I like to do is go to Live Music events. To find out what's on at any given time, open your search in world, select all Events then choose "Live Music" from the drop down box. A list will come up showing what's on at that particular time and beyond and each item in the list will provide a description of the style of music and the artist. Good luck :-)
  20. Frida Kahlo of course! and you did an excellent job Marianne.
  21. Hi Ricky, in addition to the suggestions you've been given, I personally use the in world search, Events and then click on the drop down and select "Live music". You will be presented with a list and as you click on each one it shows the time, which usually starts with what's on now. It will also give a brief description of the type i.e. dj's, bands, solo singers and their style. You can decide what looks appealing to you and TP to it. I only go to events on the weekends and they all have people at them. If I'm not into the style of music of the vibe I go back to the list and choose again. Just a tip, make sure you have your mini map visible before you TP as often when a venue is busy, you won't see people until you bump into them :smileywink:
  22. Mayalily, where do you get your statistics that "some or most people think because they buy clothes or rent, that they are somehow supporting the entertainment in SL ... " ? I don't know anyone that thinks that. I tip venus, musicians & dj's according to my enjoyment and appreciation of the services/talent they provide and I've never thought that money I spent shopping contributes to supporting SL entertainment. Perhaps some clubs are failing because people don't find them entertaining enough to tip or they tip what they can afford to tip which may not necessarily be enough to keep the club up and running. Just a thought.
  23. Stunning photos Tamara, you only started taking pics a few months ago? wow. :matte-motes-smile:
  24. Hi Pearl. Do you mean a forum badge that has your pic in it? If so, Suella put together this step by step guide on how to create a forum badge including adding a profile picture. This should help you. http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Your-Avatar/How-to-create-a-cool-forum-avatar-badge/m-p/707025
