I would be more than happy to see 2 creative threads rather than 10 useless ones. And yes, I think "age" should grant some rights in here. A 10 minutes old resident sould not be allowed to post 40 threads in less than a 30 minutes laptime! This is just insane. I do agree with you - though I know this is a contentious issue with some people - to be honest I've created a few threads today simply because I'm about and the spam is annoying me - but it's hard going coming up with any kind of relevant ideas. I know people love their 'vanity style' threads - but there's even only so many of them that can hold any interest at all. Two threads per day was mentioned by some posters - even 5 would provide some relief from the spammers. Restricting 'thread' rights to older residents might help too. Let's see what other people think. *Dons armor

  3. With all the discussion regarding the arrival of the 16-17 year olds in SL. Has it made any difference on the ground at all? (Anti Spam Thread)
  4. Yes - I'd kinda like if SL got a bit more to 'scale' builds etc would become more interesting in my opinion.

I would give up my weekly premium 300 L to pay a moderator for European hours. We get the worst of the spam between 8:00 AM and 6: PM GMT here. :smileymad: Giving up money is one thing... how about giving up the 'right' to make as many threads as you want - or maybe only residents over a certain age can make threads???
  6. Dilbert Dilweg wrote: Depends on what type of living. I know a lot of club workers who use their job to pay for their Living in SL. They pay their land rentals and or tier for land they buy. Or they use the money to buy land and resell it or rent it out..Also to buy their Sl clothing and pay their premium account if they have one I have known some to use hosting and jobs in SL to help pay of Old Credit card debts lol. Those are the ones who work a lot in SL lol. But a good host can pull in $L5 grand a day working a few 2 hour shifts. It ads up on a weekly basis Making upwards to 30 to L$50,000 a month lol In one way I think 'Wow' but actually I'm really glad that people can still make lindens like this - it makes SL that bit more accessible to everyone. I did mean a living in/for SL rather than an RL living btw - but it's great that SL can even help people with their RL bills. These days when the focus of SL and indeed LL seems to be turning more and more to youngsters and their needs, big business and large land owners it's comforting to know that the 'traditional' SL Resident still has a chance of living their SL. I'm not too sure I make sense - but I know what I mean :smileytongue:
  7. In the war against spam - what 'freedom' on the forums would you be prepared to give up in order to make it easier to keep spam under control? (Anti Spam Thread)
  8. I love Babbage, Berlin and Kowloon and many other wonderful sims in SL - are there any new builds that have 'erupted' over the past 6 months or so that come up to the same standards? (Anti Spam Thread)
  9. This is an Anti Spam Thread. I'm seeing a lot of shorter avatars in SL these days. Not so many that the giants are going to be outnumbered anytime soon - but there does seem to be more people choosing a more 'realistic' height. Is this a growing trend - or is it just that people feel more comfortable these days choosing their own style and size?
  10. Anti Spam thread I'm looking for a nice roadside plot for a wee pub - not sure Estate will suit though - I think adult land might be a good idea, thinking of something about 1680 - of course that's negotiable.
  11. This is an anti-spam thread... However while doing that I wonder is Club workers - from Hostesses, Dancers, DJs strippers etc etc etc still make a living in SL. There was a time when people who could 'talk' the talk and looked good could do quite well - does that still apply, or has the recession hit SL too?
  12. Astolat Dufaux wrote: Proposal was probably the wrong word, I apologize .I should have stuck with rumormongering. I bit my tongue and refrained from suggesting that people might be starting threads like this just to stir things up. I probably just should have stuck to what I do best -- which is stay out of the forums. :smileysad: Ahhh don't stay away - we need all the people we can get who aren't afraid to speak their minds (but not while swearing or bleeping). :smileyindifferent:
  13. Lulu Lysette wrote: I can't STAND the inventory! The font they use is so huge, and that goes for search as well. I can't stand having to page through search rather than getting a nice long list on one page. And speaking of search...it's broken. I can't bring up people that I can bring up on another viewer. Pictures don't match profiles in search either. Old profile pictures sometimes show up in search, but if you click on the name in the friends list, I get the newer picture that the person has uploaded. It's just pitiful. <snipped> I've not had a problem with the font in the inventory (or indeed the inventory at all to be honest). I agree that search is borked completely but that's going to affect all viewers in a short while as it's not the UI that lets it down but rather the search software LL have chosen to use. As these things are tested first on V2 (like profiles) it's too easy to lump them together with the viewer itself - one of the mistakes LL made in allowing two distinctly different code systems to co-exist. And for those who would say if they didn't people would have left SL in droves - I really don't believe that - concurrency may have suffered for a while but people would eventually have returned to their addiction and it might have encouraged TPV developers to work on viewers based on the new code sooner rather than preening about adding pretty bits to the old code. Just my opinion of course.:smileyhappy:
  14. Astolat Dufaux wrote:<snip> That would be the most logical reason for such a policy (another "policy proposal", I expect, which only exists in the minds of people who are not LL policymakers, just rumormongers). I doubt it has much to do with stifling creativity. That's what The Grid is supposed to be for. Actually there's no 'proposal' at all - this has merely evolved from discussions elsewhere about possible ways to limit spamming, and also about the theory that some people are starting lots of seemingly 'spurious' threads in an effort to 'game' the rank system. This thread just brought that 'discussion' to another fantasy level is all - in my opinion. :smileyindifferent:
  15. I think it was probably for the language you used rather than the content - mods are really being hot on deleting posts/threads that contain swearing, abusive language and even "masked" vulgarity. Next time try to do it without the non G rated words.
  16. Ack I hope it wasn't my contribution - it was an Irish word - not counted as a swear but I added some *** so it might have been taken as something else. Sorry if it was. :smileysad:
  17. Deej Kasshiki wrote: Don't feed the v2 fan-trolls. The UI and usability issues of v2 are well documented. If it worked well enough for most people that it was being adopted by the majority of residents LL would have shut down the 1.x viewers. The fact is that v2 still has a way to go, by LL's own admission (see Snowstorm Project backlog). It's progressed since it's original version but still lacks features needed by more advanced users. To be honest the 'official' viewer will always lack functions/features that some people (advanced or otherwise) will like and want - that's why LL allows and indeed encourages TPV development - one viewer will never suit everyone, choice is a wonderful thing. Oh and I'm not a V2 fan-troll just cos I like the viewer and it works for me. If someone else brings out a viewer based on V2 code I like better I'll use that - I have always said that blind support of any piece of software (and other things) would be just silly - and that goes in all directions. Cheers :smileyhappy:

I do agree with this - I also think that 'friendships' forged in the forums based on mutual likes or dislikes of other people must be pretty tenuous in other circumstances - I mean what happens when they start disagreeing with each other inworld... eeek! :smileyindifferent:

They are always beautifully dressed in Kimono's (or maybe I use the wrong word for their colorful dresses...apologies then!). A performance is always serene and calm, and can be quite relaxing . My favourites are the Little Yoshiwara Okiya. They have their own theatre and regular shows. (easy to find in search with Little Yoshiwara, i don't have a link ready...) I love the diversity of theatre and entertainment one can find on SL - I attended the opera once - it was marvelous. Too many people seem to think that Clubs and Live Music Venues (which are great) is the only entertainment or 'theatre' available in SL and it's just not so. :smileyhappy:
  22. V2 works great for me and it's getting better and better - Starlight skin download really adds to it as well. OK I'll admit I don't especially like web profiles - but that's not essentially a V2 thing - more a change of server reources for LL. But no - I'm quite happy with V2.5 and looking forward to what TPVs can do with the V2 code.
  23. Thanks for your contribution Ferenc, I have seen a few agencies about and even used one in the past (long time ago) and I was wondering if they still had a function in SL. Seems like they do :smileyhappy:
  24. On this subject - and I was at the meeting where Amanda made the statement - I still have the feeling that she was talking about 'forum misdemeanors' and covering the usual forum 'fights' that can happen. I would not be surprised however if someone proved to be consistently aggressive, abusive, racist or whatever - or indeed if they brought Inworld stuff inappropriately to the forums (as in chat logs or naming people etc) - there may very well be an impact on the whole account and (IMO) quite rightly too.
  25. Storm Clarence wrote: Did you not just attend this same meeting with Mags; less than 5 minutes before this OP? To be honest it can be really difficult to follow those meetings so I take notes of the more important points (I know I'm a bit of a nerd) so I can refer back. *Looks all embarassed :smileyindifferent:
