  1. I wish the moles would stop their attempts to prettify mainland by adding totally incongruous landscaping elements. There are vast areas of Second life that are desolate wastelands of bare rock, which is fine, they exist in real life too And then the moles come along and add trees and hedges and flower boxes. It really destroys the realism of the scene, and as others have stated, make it impossible to get in and out of your property with a vehicle. We really don't need every foot of roadway bordered with "stuff". I suggest that you leave the road margins open unless there is a compelling reason to add elements, and then, at least make them fit the theme.
  2. But they do appear in search. I bought all my 16 sq m parcels from the in world search function on firestorm.
  3. Yes homesteads, but I thought there was also something separate called open space sims that had 1/4 the capacity of a homestead, ie 4 avatars and 1250 prims. Or maybe I just imagined it. I knew I wasn't dreaming: https://community.secondlife.com/knowledgebase/english/openspace-regions-r1032/ Sell me one of those
  4. I ARed a 64 by 64 BLM sign across the road from my home. I used "object littering" as the option. A few days later it was gone. Co-incidence? Maybe, but either way it was gone and didn't return.
  5. We hear over and over about the evil of networked advertising on mainland, about how it is the bane of mainlanders existence, about how it should be eliminated now and forever. But how? We hear that networked advertising is mainly a phenomenon of micro parcels, since what else can you do with 5 prims except stick a sign on it? Its been suggested that parcels not be allowed to be cut smaller than a certain size, but that would cause a lot of unintended consequences. Similarly, banning the sale of micro parcels would cause also undesirable consequences. A forum resident suggested charging each micro parcel the equivalent of a 512 sq m tier, which is both unworkable and unfair. My suggesting is simple, clear and fair. I propose that Linden Labs make a new rule banning construction on any parcel under 64 sq m Parcels under that size would only be allowed to have natural elements rezzed on them such as trees, flowers, and rocks. As soon as this rule change is implemented, all those 16 sq m networked advertising holdings would be rendered worthless, either for use or for sale at inflated prices. Networked advertisers could divest themselves of their holdings by offering them for sale at reasonable prices to neighboring land owners, or just abandoning them Lets face it, no one will pay hundreds of $Ls for a 16 sq m parcel just to put a rock or shrub on. Under this new rule, networked advertising won't be eliminated since it would still be legal, but I think it will certainly be greatly reduced. Implement this suggestion, and take a giant step to beautifying the mainland by largely eliminating the "scourge" of networked advertising once and for all. Note to LL, if you do implement this rule, please publish it. Don't just sneakily change the TOS and say gotcha.
  6. Lets go all the way and make it possible to buy an open space sim with no other ownership requirements. I'd be all in on that. 1250 prims, up to 4 avatars, that works for me. If it was 1/4 to 1/3 the price of a homestead, I'd do it. Are open space sims even a thing any more?
  7. I'm only selling the less desirable ones. The premium locations where I will put my ads are being removed from sale when the (for now bare) ad structure goes up. So, some of the parcels will be an ad farm (small tasteful signs of course), and the rest will be networked advertising. Both will of course be within the rules for such things. Thank you for your input and suggestions. Oh, I have a great idea for how LL can get rid of networked advertising once and for all, but I'll start a new thread for that. I'm sure it will garner a lot of support from the forum residents
  8. Go for it. I was going to add to my post responding to Provosky, but since you replied I'll say it here. Provosky said my signs are simply self-expression. <<"No one is going to be persuaded to vote for some politician because they saw a sign in a virtual world. It's self-expression, not persuasive.">> And he's 100% correct. I used my parcels for self expression to express my support of Trump. I didn't think anyone would say, wow, that clenches it for me, I'm voting for Trump So with my signs gone, who else had their freedom of expression restricted? I'm sure 99% of the people that saw my signs (if the textures even loaded before they moved on) couldn't have cared less. Of the rest, some submitted an AR, some put up anti-Trump protest signs, some put up signs supporting their preferred candidate, some IMed me thanking me for posting the signs, some IMed me with genuine curiosity asking why the signs were there and some just sent me hate filled IMs. But you know what? In every case, all those person's freedom of expression has now been diminished, because they cannot engage with something that no longer exists. Thus Second Life as a whole is diminished, and made less than it could be. p.s. most of the anti trump signs are on non networked advertising parcels, so they are still there. I wouldn't AR them anyway, because I respect the promise of Second Life. Unfortunately, too many people don't. p.p.s, Have a nice life Molly, I hope SL can be everything you want it to be
  9. Self expression eh? What an amazing concept for Linden Lab to embrace. I've decided that since I have the parcels anyway, I should use most of them to advertise my inworld presence. And of course, my new construct follows all the rules for networked advertising. Will it please everyone? That's impossible. The parcels won't be for sale, but neighbors are always free to make an offer to buy the land, or AR the signs as a local eyesore. Does a build that offends ones sense of style and esthetic constitute an ARable offence? It's not, but if you say yes, then a private estate or a LL home continent is the place you need to be. Some might even call it modern art 😁
  10. On networked advertising, all ads must be General. My question is, can I advertise a place located on adult land if the ad itself is general, ie mentions nothing of an adult nature. Being pointed to a specific reference in the tos / wiki would be appreciated too Thank you
  11. I have said all I can usefully say on this topic, so I take my leave. One parting thought though. Which is better, to live in a world where anything not forbidden is allowed, or where anything not allowed is forbidden? Stay safe.
  12. *deleted* Discussing TOS violations is a violation of the TOS and subject to banning.
  13. *deleted* You might be right and I can't be bothered to argue it.
  14. I doubt that applies to my parcels. I wasn't selling advertising, I was simply expressing my personal opinion on the 2020 election. A sign on my front yard as it were. So I have 47 front yards. *shrugs*
  15. Yes, isn't free speech great? Someone was offended by my Trump support, so they put their own offering on their land. As long as they were not encroaching, I had no problem with it. As an aside, that's why I always bought parcels with two sides facing LL right of ways.
  16. It was a rather big hammer to use just to get rid of my 47 Trump 2020 signs. My ads were totally conforming in every way, and yet I'm sure (based on my hate ims) that they generated a lot of ARs. So finally, some bright star in LL said, hey, lets just ban political ads on ad farms. Bingo, problem solved.
  17. Yes its a terrible possibility isn't it? Someone might post a "free Hong Kong" sign, or a sign denouncing the genocide against the Uighurs. Yes its much better if everyone just shuts up and continues playing doll dress up.
  18. While I was picking up my signs I found 6 or 7 signs that people had "vandalized". But, that was my own fault for not setting the land permissions to prevent such actions. I'm more concerned with the silencing of peaceful free expression. Is this something new to appease the new overlords? And if so, what will be banned next? Since all life is politics, god only knows what thoughts will be banned. As an aside, I did get a giant BLM sign across the road from my place removed after I ARed it.
  19. I think it sucks. I had 47 Trump signs, all legal, all in accordance with the ad farm rules. I had to pick them all up.
  20. Thank you to everyone that came to the party. A wonderful time was had by all
  21. My bad, should be in upcoming events *shrugs*
  22. Come celebrate Independence Day at Jameson Cove at 5 pm slt tonight, July 4th. Enjoy the fireworks while you make your own fireworks with a friend or two. Lots of toys to use while enjoying the show. Dance the night away, either vertically or horizontally. Everyone welcome. Hope to see you there. *hugs* BJ Jameson Cove
  23. If the BLM movement was a sincere vehicle for change, their slogan would be ALL Black Lives Matter. Unfortunately, the only black lives that matter to them are the ones that promote their narrative than America is a racist hatefilled country that must be torn down and remade. Does the BLM leadership care about the death of the 75 year old black ex-police caption who was murdered by looters? Does BLM leadership care about all the black business destroyed by looters? Lives destroyed that will never be rebuilt. More unarmed innocent blacks have been killed by rioters during the riots so far than were killed by cops in all of 2019. At the end of the day BLM is nothing but an extreme left wing hate group, counting on white ignorance and white guilt to further its agenda. That's all I have to say, no replies are necessary, because I won't reply. Have a nice day.
  24. I agree 100% that the title "advisor" should be removed. I recently asked a question in the answers section, and 3 "advisers" replied. The first one gave me the correct advice for my question, two other "advisers" used my question to make "clever" replies. One of them I got into a back and forth with where I had to show their interpretation of LL rules regarding land cutting and sales were entirely wrong. Advisers are part of the reason I don't post in the forum any more. Have a nice day everyone.
