  1. I'm not a creator, but I do breedables. I own a sim, where I have a store, and the lower monthly sim cost and higher prim count has saved me a lot. We have seen LL invest a lot in SL in the past few years, and make a real effort to fix some of the issues we were all complaining loudly about. One of the major complaints was that land costs were just too high. In order to address that, they have to change the revenue model to some extent. As more and more creators shifted stores to mp only, that meant less land income too. We are, essentially, paying for real estate on mp. Are the fees higher than they need to be? That I don't know. Land costs less, and mp fees cost more, is it a wash for most creators or not? I didn't hear anyone complaining when land costs went down though LOL. Don't blame LL for VAT. I realize it's a factor in decision making, but to suggest LL has anything at all to do with that is ridiculous. We all have tax structures we have to deal with, some on the front end, some on the back. It's an issue for every person in SL that takes cash out of the system. My two cents. Peace!
  2. Thanks for the reply Zeta! I use AnyPose in world, and it is a great product. It has some limitations though working with the bento bones, especially the hands. Also, I wanted to learn a new skill.
  3. I am brand new to Blender, Avastar, and pose making, and would appreciate a little advice. I've found lots of tutorials for most of what I need. My question relates to keyframing the static pose. I am currently working with a kneeling pose, so most of the bones (hoping that's the right term! LOL such a noob) have been adjusted in some way. I box selected the entire avatar and hit i in Blender, and created the keyframe using LocRot. Then exported it as bvh and imported to SL. Seems to work fine. My questions are, is this the "right" way to do this, or is there a more efficient way than selecting and saving the entire avatar? Is there something else in addition I should be doing? Thanks for the advice!
  4. Oh good it's not just me. Been happening for a few days, using Chrome. Tried all the usual fixes nothing works. Thanks for filing the JIRA

They know what it is. You have to reach those outside of SL. It's rare to find someone outside of SL who's ever even heard of it. Advertisements don't get you there. PR does. Articles, features, etc, on all kinds of media. Radio, television, magazines, online and off. Your goal should be to make "Second LIfe" a household name like any other social platform. YOu don't get there by "advertising". Who says it is a social platform? If I want to sit on my land with ban lines up and breed my cats and never see another SLer, that is my right. How can you call it a social platform with all of the threads about SL bieng empty and lifeless? If all of these SIMs are vacant of life how is it a social platform? Hell, there are people that come to SL and just build for other Grids. SL is what YOU make it to be for YOURSELF. Not for anyone else. Down boy.

  7. I was so excited to see this thread! Bear with me if I have repeated some things others have said. I am SLs target demographic. Or I should be. I have time, I have entertainment dollars to spend, I like fashion, art, music...I have NEVER not once seen an ad for SL outside of SL. NOT ONCE. You should be advertising in the places that will reach me and the professionals like me. Vogue magazine to reach those who would love to wear the clothes they can never afford to own in RL. Business publications both online and real world, to reach those people stuck in hotel rooms at night with nothing to do. In flight magazines! Features on Yahoo Shine or in Forbes online. Homebound mom's...pinterest is popular for a reason. Figure out how to reach them so they can come to SL and create the homes they can't afford in RL. You get the idea I think. Expand your idea of what SL is, and who would be interested. Take the time to understand who uses SL every day, and how best to reach those like them. SLex surely exists, but there are also thriving fashion communities, art communites, music, etc. I have done guided meditation, gone to church, poetry readings...read the blogs about SL, the most popular ones are travel and fashion. This should tell you something important! Focusing on the avatar is fine...but make them look like the high end avatars many of us create, not the cartoony characters I frequently see in your advertisements. Same with the environments. You have to entice people, make them drool, make them want it. The ads you show in your initial post? They don't give anyone any idea at all what SL is about. Frankly, I don't know how you could expect to know how to market SL unless you spend some serious time there. I suspect part of the problem is that most of the marketing team doesn't. I could be wrong, but I doubt it. The fact that you think the images you showed us in your initial post are representative of SL in any way proves that. Those are so 3 years ago.
  8. Looking for this skin. Dropped a nc on the creator of the ad asking, no luck. Any ideas? Thanks!
  9. "The new viewer is not working" It's working fine for me. What problems are you having? What exactly is it you don't like about mesh? I have not had any problems finding non-mesh clothes of great quality. Most of the creators that I have seen leaving SL has been because their skills have not kept up with the market, and their sales have subsequently plummeted, be they mesh creators or not makes no difference. Any company, SL or RL, has to evolve or they will not retain market share. There was an interesting info graphic posted for SLs 10th birthday celebration. It said there are about 1 million people that log into SL every month. I am thankful they don't all log in at the same time. Think of the lag! I think the Drax files recently did an interview with Rod Humble, that may be where you got the 40k figure. Here's a link to some of what he said http://modemworld.wordpress.com/2013/06/03/the-drax-files-a-humble-view-of-the-world/ I think the death of SL is being greatly over-exagerrated...again.

  11. https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Blacklace-Beauty-Bum-Crack-Pasties/4488059 There you go.
  12. They're doing rolling restarts right now. I'd wait until they're done to clear cache. After that normal rules should apply.
  13. I feel your pain! I just finally found a new skin I loved after several years of being in the same skin. My old skin was very very good, very high detail, but I wanted a change. I still fill weird in my new skin, even though I love it. Why? Because she's me! It's like I had plastic surgery or something and changed who I was! We get attached to our avatars. They are part of our identity. I think this is a good thing.

I have seen CHUI was available but haven't played with it yet. I thought it was for individual communication though, IM and local chat and such. I didn't realize it was meant to improve group chat. Nothing I read about it said anything about group chat at all.

I'd say two years is long enough, time to find a new CEO who actually cares about the product and its users. My biggest dissapointment is that he seemed profess an understanding that he personally needed to be more engaged with the community. That, by and large, has not been the case. Therefore, he appears to not really understand the needs of the revenue producing portion of the community, the buyers and sellers of goods and services in second life. I disagree that customer service has gotten worse though. In general, tickets are actually responded to now, usually within 24 hours. I had tickets sit for months on end without any response before he arrived. For me anyway that particular situation has been much improved.
  16. OH! Duh. I should have realized. click the bewbs. when the menu comes up, click clothing click the clothing item you're trying to apply, this is nearly always dress or bra attach the tango applier hud and click it Let us know if that's what you were looking for.
  17. Jinx Requiem wrote: Ugh .. now I have the Lola's breasts, cute clothing for them, and still having issues with the breasts sticking outside of the clothing. I'm ot sure what exactly you're describing. Is it your avatar breasts? You should set your breast size to zero on your shape with the Tangos, so they don't stick through the prims. If that's not what you're experiencing, post a picture so we can see.
  18. I've had some luck at Liv Glam finding things that fit all over on my curvy shape, even curvier than Hucci.
  19. So I buy a lot of clothes. A LOT. I used to be able to click on someone's prim skirt of hair and figure out who the creator i8s and where it came from, but with the advent of mesh, that little built in marketing tool is no more. And since so many people are stingy with information on where they obtained a clothing item, it's making it really hard for me to spend Lindens on new clothes! (Okay not really, I still manage. Hehe) So mesh clothing creators, can you please put your logo or tag inside the garments you create? If this became a standard, we could just cam inside someone and see who made what they're wearing and tp right to your store and buy your stuff! Win-win!
  20. Vanessa, let me throw this out there for you. Those of us who wear prim breasts are ALWAYS looking for high quality clothing with appliers. Since prim breasts are, well, prims, mesh won't work with them, even when the deformer is done. No mesh for us, at least on top. So if you really want to make clothes, that might be your market.
  21. You may have to tell Windows to show hidden files and folders to be able to see the "temp" and "SecondLife" folder. You can change that setting by following these instructions: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Show-hidden-files

    80's

Try Emery, here's their blog but a lot of their older stuff in the store is 80s. http://emerylover.blogspot.com/
  23. I went premium orignally so I could own a bit of mainland, I didn't want to rent from anyone. I pay annually and take advantage of the discount pricing for that, and with the weekly stipend it's almost free. I like having access to live chat, and have good experiences with that, so I keep one account premium always. I did have a linden home for awhile, which was nice to have somewhere I could park my avi at night and be sure where I was going to wake up the next time I came in world LOL
  24. If the dress is done in standard sizing, there should be a notecard in the package with the sliders you need to change. Here are the XS sliders and whatthey need to be set to -XS Body Fat: 5 Torso Muscle: 31 Breast Size: 48 Love Handles: 25 Belly Size: 2 Leg Muscle: 45 Butt Size: 34 Saddle Bags: 30 If you need another size search 'standard sizing package' on marketplace the sizes are listed there. You may have to slightly tweak a few of these, I find I often have to take the saddlebads or love handles down just a tiny bit from what's listed.
