  1. Good cop, bad cop - no. It was something you said in the beta group chat once, a long time ago. First impression I got of you was good. You do not have a sheep mentality and are always willing to put yourself out on a limb if you have something on your mind you want to share. I don't think "most here have been told to hate" you; but for sure all of us have our fans and haters, and everything seems magnified at times in the enclosed space of these forums. I dance to no one's tune but my own, no one pulls my strings, no one tells me who to love or hate, and if I seem to want to give you a little sugar, just accept it and use it to douse out some of the acid that others may drip onto you.

That did make me chortle :matte-motes-big-grin:
  3. I don't hesitate when I see bots inflating numbers in venues, especially if it's getting them up to the top of the search lists under false pretences. Submit an AR.

  5. I agree with Lindal, and also would add that out in real life, there are companies that have similar names, and trade legally. Mishmash and MishMash T Shirts are totally different companies, with totally different logos. The attitude of the other store owner comes across loud and clear in her blog (I did a Google search for her), and it's not a good one. Personally, I would mute her, and not get involved with any conversation with her. You are posing no threat to her business; you sell totally different things. It sounds to me like she is just threatened by your very presence.
  6. Welcome to Second Life Answers, eveadams1990 As you've gathered, this section of the website has no "reply" button, which is a bone of contention for many of us. If you go back to your original thread and click on "options" at the top right hand corner of your original post, you can edit your original post, or make other actions. And if you wish to comment to any individual post, you can click on "permalink" at the bottom of the post you wish to respond to. Always return to these Answers should you have problems/questions/queries. There is always someone awake and around to "take your call" :matte-motes-big-grin:
  7. Double check your transactions history, via your dashboard. Then you may need to contact Billing directly on one of their freephone numbers: Contacting Linden Lab billing support If you have a non-technical issue related to billing concerns, you can call the Linden Lab billing team at the following toll-free numbers: US/Canada: 800-294-1067 France: 0805-101-490 Germany: 0800-664-5510 Japan: 0066-33-132-830 Portugal: 800-814-450 Spain: 800-300-560 UK: 0800-048-4646 Brazil: 0800-762-1132 Long distance (not free): 703-286-6277 Billing Support is available twenty four hours a day, seven days a week in the US, UK, and Canada and 7 days a week in all other countries listed above.
  8. Next time you log in, go into the menus at the top of the screen, and click "console window". Relog. Next time you log in you should have Second Life plus a console window running, and the console window should give you a clue as to what's happening while you're stuck with the teleport bar on your screen prior to the viewer disconnecting you. Other questions, which may help trigger helpful suggestions from other forum users is, as you're a 2006 avatar, what has changed recently to prevent you from teleporting on either of your mac computers. Are the computers recently acquired, or have you been using them for a while? If you have plenty of RAM and it's not full of other programs, and you're not running a ton of other heavy graphic games or anything at the same time as you're running Second Life, it's ... and there I'm stuck again!
  9. Bump - hopefully the next shift will be on soon with more suggestions. My brain is still recompiling itself for the day. With you having this problem on two separate macs, thinking it could be mac-related, but still mithered about it being your connection. (Reset modem please.) Regarding male avatars being neutered, that is a whole 'nother question. Some skins even appear to have a pen1s drawn onto them, as if that would make them more realistic. It's probably just an indication of how the people who work at LL are the types to sit around all day looking through clothes catalogues, giggling at the pictures of people in their underwear - oooo how rude :matte-motes-wink-tongue: If/when I think of any more suggestions re your problem, I'll be back.
  10. I forgot about the additional ability to achieve privacy in SL - I'm being a dinosaur and sticking with an older version of Phoenix until they drag it from my cold dead corpse! :matte-motes-big-grin-wink:
  11. I really don't believe there is anything you can do except build away from the sim edge. Even if you walk at your slowest, once you get within a metre or so of the adjacent sim, already your information starts to transfer across to the server that holds the next sim.
  12. Hello again, Hadden300 I've sent you a message and notecard inworld - I hope you get them. Just in case though, here is an update. It would be against Terms of Service for me to name any names here on the forums, but it appears the alarm/noise is coming from several sources in the house next door to your own, which is also in the adjacent sim. The person who owns that particular Linden home has decided he wants to be a noisy and offensive neighbour, and it does look like he is currently suspended from Second Life. I've found the sources of all the noise, and have submitted an abuse report to Linden Lab explaining briefly but thoroughly the problem. Hopefully someone from Linden Lab will come out to remove the noisemakers. In the meantime, you can mute them BUT they are rather hard to find. I think it is possible you can't hear them when you are inside your home, but can hear them when you are on top of, or outside your home. Regarding the issue you have with your house having no upstairs, unfortunately you've been given one of the properties on that sim that is single storey. (Ironically the noisy neighbour has a two storey property - it's a shame he can't be thrown out, and you have that property!). When allocated Linden Homes it is the luck of the draw. You can choose which type of Linden Home you want, but currently they are in very short supply.
  13. I'm having a much quieter day today shhhhhhh ;-)
  14. In addition to Peter's perfect answer, is 144 Cranberry Ridge a Linden Home? Have you got your graphics set too low and are alt viewing too far out for your second floor to show up to you. Try a simple relog and see if the house rezzes better for you. It might just be a graphics glitch. Regarding the alarm - see Peter's answer.
  15. If you have a look at Lipshen and sims around that one, a private landowner has taken it upon themselves to create something akin to Linden Homes sims. Maybe they were inspired by Linden Homes, and it has tidied up the mainland (although I cannot say offhand how popular these homes are), but certainly it does show that LL could do worse than spend a bit of time tidying up chunks of the abandoned land on the mainland, of which there is rather too much at the moment.
  16. Welcome to Second Life Forums, FotoDog Regardless of what your internet service provider assures you is your speed, they never warn you about intermittent disconnections, or the fact that at certain times you have to share your broadband service with more users than at other times. This can have a bearing on how your SL performs. However, it's possible that the reason you are having issues transporting is because of your attachments. Are you wearing something scripted? Hair, footwear? Outfit? HUDs? Test by removing all your attachments and then try teleporting. If you find you can do so, then it has to be one of your attachments causing the problem. Please keep this thread updated with any action you take and progress you make - it's helpful to others. Good luck!
  17. I think the sad thing about Linden Homes for newbies is they are less likely to have a reason to explore the mainland and could be missing a lot - especially the "bug" you get when you first start buying land, and buy more and more and more. My own bone of contention this is. I've always loved the mainland, and while Linden Homes definitely have a place in the world, I see them more like 'holiday homes' to have as an extra, rather than have as a main home. LL unfortunately see everything very short-sightedly - probably because most of those actually employed by LL don't actually spend enough time inworld as residents.
  18. I see you're now OK on the other thread (Peter's link to it) - great stuff :matte-motes-big-grin:
  19. I am very very glad you are in, Aleea. Often it is something very simple that will fix a severe-looking problem. Marvellous ! Don't worry about deleting the other message - I'll mark it as a duplicate thread.
  20. I don't know which comes first, Second Life or the insanity !
  21. Good grief! I just saw your remark Peter, and had just suggested that to the OP - it would be a great use for all the abandoned mainland if LL were to consider building a few homes on some of the sims. Great minds think alike, eh ;-))
  22. Wow, that is shocking - Linden homes all sold out already! And I'm not surprised you are frustrated and furious to be told you could have a free house and free land AFTER you elected to become a premium. However, it might be an ill wind. 512m parcels of the mainland are being sold for as little as 0.3L$ per square metre (1L$ if it is recently-abandoned land belonging now to Linden Lab). You could also actually try submitting a support ticket to Linden Lab if you see one of their abandoned land parcels that you fancy and tell them your situation; that you chose to go premium, but no Linden Homes are available - it might be an idea for LL to utilise all the abandoned mainland for building some more Linden Homes on (wonder if they have thought of it - if not, you could plant the seed of an idea to them this way). Linden Homes look great, but the sims I have been on have been terribly laggy, which is no wonder when you consider the high demand for them. If you are especially sociable, it might be nice to live in such close proximity to other people, but there is little room to exercise individuality in the Linden Homes, whereas over on the mainland, you can be as eclectic in your taste as you choose to be - up to 117 prims worth.
  23. It's my marbles that I mostly lose.
  24. Aleea, please delete your other, duplicated forum thread if you will. You can add any further information to this one by either clicking on "options" at the top right hand corner of your original post and "edit" to add more onto th end of what you've already written, or you can comment via the "permalink" at the bottom left hand side of each person's response. If you've unplugged your modem and plugged it back in again, but you are still having what seems to be a hard crash without a message appearing on your screen, it could possibly be the region you are trying to log into, so you could try to log in by changing the login start location on your login screen, but I think you will possibly still suffer a hard crash (worth a try though). Other things to check are that your graphics card drivers are up to date, and also if you are on Windows, see if it is a recent Update from windows that may have caused a conflict (roll back with a system restore if you need to). Other responses will follow. Please keep this thread up to date as you make progress - it will help others with similar issue.
  25. I do not understand how there can have been this breakdown in communication; I have known several people - without premium accounts - who have been able to retrieve their account password by contacting Linden Lab. I do not think it is correct that they would demand a person become a premium member before they receive help. Your partner needs to submit a support ticket - rather than to ring them. He can make an alt account, make a nice shiney new email account for it too (as a lot of us have done) and use this to access the web page that he needs in order to submit a support ticket. https://support.secondlife.com/create-case/ On the alt account, your partner can explain to LL that he has not got his account details, and they will be able to ask him some security questions that he should know the answers to, and the account will become active for him again. I know you said "Any suggestions besides us making different accounts", but sometimes it's necessary to do so. Real life can be a "comedy of errors" too, sadly, this is not exclusive to Second Life :matte-motes-confused:
