  2. a well known fishing franchise let me down too, they thought they could change the deal that I'd bought in to. I was contacted earlier on today, they refunded me and told me I wasn't a customer anymore, LOL. It wasn't really about the money, it was about how their arrogance they could change things at the drop of a hat. I think they need a bit of competition to wake them up..

  4. hey, never mind SL going to hell in a handbasket :smileyhappy:
  5. LL used to inform all avatars that were online with a blue window, alerting them that there were problems, not to rez or buy stuff etc. now it looks like you have to go to their blog every hour to see if its safe to do anything. bad show Linden Lab, you cant hide your problems like that, bring back the notifications, you will gain more respect, ive lost too much lately to really be that bothered any more, and i wont buy no copy items, whats the point if im going to lose them?
  6. CharlesMockingbird Blogger wrote: The idea that griefers are all suffering from real life trauma or insecurity issues is a tad bonkers in itself. Most are people just goofing around, and normally stop if their intended victims laugh it off or - SHOCK, HORROR - ask them if they'd be interested in participating in the sim's activities. But we could maybe use this as a springboard to discuss the concept of boredom on SL? problem: boredom on SL. solution: do something else.

That coupled with genuinely evil sorts that take joy in making others feel pain - of which these forums used to have several members of that type. Both sorts need to be cleaned out to keep communities healthy. im the genuinely evil sort, but pain is often truth, it's the way to enlightenment.
  9. Smoothie Perl wrote: I agree for the filter request .....but I don't like a freebie hunter (for me same category as a griefer) to charecterize descent creators demos (and many of their awesome creations) as "pollution". LMAO You have nerve! its a free market and people are allowed to be freebie hunters and not be frowned upon for doing so. i agree there are far too many "demos" on the marketplace, im not the first to suggest this, demo's should have a separate category.

The supposed burning point is August 2nd, I don't hold a grand pumbah outlook , I do not like Dem's or Reb's, but I do love this country. I believe it shouldn't be tossed down because of political favor points or ideology's, and beg them to come up with a compromise. If you agree with this, if you have a facebook a twitter or even make a shred of money on SL, that you have to transfer to the Dollar amount and want toss ee it not go down the drain...... 12. Deej Kasshiki wrote: Oh I hear it a lot and that's why I go out of my way to speak in much less technical terms when I'm explaining concepts to non-IT people. But that's only a part of what I was addressing. It was the overall, "well peon, if you had bothered to actually read x you would understand how mesh is the best ever..." tone of your original post. I've seen the same attitude from many of the mesh advocates. That's one of the things that's really turning me off mesh. The bottom line for me is this; SL is unique because of the user created content and the sandbox nature of the world. It can never compete with the top-tier 3-D games that are created by professional 3-D artists and optimized to the nth degree for performance. It will therefore never look like Crysis, but I accept that tradeoff for the unique nature of SL and its community. Does that mean that the game shouldn't advance technically? No. But mesh will not be the silver bullet that many people are trying to sell it as and in the process denigrating anyone who disagrees with their opinions. i have to agree, some of us dont have the time to learn about mesh, SL will change for the worse for a lot of part time hobbyists and that was part of SL's charm. it seems all the good things are going and SL is becoming a commercial failure. concurrency is going down anyway amd making it harder to access will kill it off.
  13. AmyNevilly wrote: The Business Park sim has maybe 1,000 uniques a day due to hosting the Gold Hunt, SecondAds, Jobsfox and the very popular VOX club. There are commercial plots for rent there. http://slurl.com/secondlife/Business%20Park/110/137/21/ Worth a look your traffic isnt anywhere near 1000 a day unique visits, most of your traffic comes from camping. i believe you are self serving and taking advantage of this forum. ETA. i may be sounding a little harsh but you may not know the way traffic is counted, your SLURL showed 1664 traffic, on my land its 784 and thats just my partner and i. and im sure not getting 500 a day unique visits, the security takes care of that.
  14. some people are "nice" because they need to feed their egos. LL give them ranks and effectively save money. its all a bit childish, but it works.
  15. Serina Daylight wrote: I think there should be a rule against people banning other people without their knowledge. Like today i went to a place i go to never had any problems no owners imed me or nothing then all of a sudden next day I go there im banned no i.m or no nc explaining why and still waiting for the owner to contact me back giving me reason why oh absolutely, Lindens should step in straight away and ban the land renters, that would teach them for being so cocky about what they do with the land they paid for.
  16. Canoro Philipp wrote: it even happens in rl. people try to portray themselves as more succesful, happy, good looking as they really are, buying some clothes because they saw a good looking model in an ad that look great in it, they buy makeup to hide who they really are, or pretend they dont have as many problems as they do. we seem to be uncomfortable with our real selves, im talking about how we see ourselves instead of how we look socially, mainly because everybody does that, and being humanity social beings we can not allow ourselves to be left behind in the success of our peers. so we buy this and that to "enhance ourselves" hiding who we really are, "lying" about ourselves. Second Life seems to be the ultimate presence modification tool to increase acceptance and fill our social hunger, when the real real self comes out... well.. it can be dissapointing. i wonder if people that got married and see their girlfriend/boyfriend without all those enhancements feel the same. it seems you get what you give in essence. not you personally of course, but those who are dishonest deserve dishonesty. SL is just a chatroom for me and its embarrassing to see people go so deeply into it, their real lives getting lost along the way.

Seconded. :-) why close a thread because of an alleged incident in SL itself? bear in mind the poster of the alleged AR griefer (whatever that is) has a motive. quite bizarre if you ask me. just let LL deal with it via abuse report, that is the correct way and you should be quite aware of that.
  19. Deltango Vale wrote: We were attacked by AR-griefers. Personally, I think it's time for the mods to shut down this thread. i think you should report it to LL using an abuse report. frankly i think you are making this up, why should anyone attack you? ETA i normally get a few nasty messages when im on a crusade such as this, funnily enough the senders dont sound like ikkle girls, they sound like men and they use language to match. not saying they are paedophiles but one never can tell.
  20. Deltango Vale wrote: Yes, I see now why you never get bored of this topic. You are the self-appointed policeman of Second Life, here to protect us all from the evils of the world that you alone know and care about. Wow, wonderful to have you here Saint Dogboat! How did we all survive without you? Personally, I wonder about your fascination with child avis. You do seem rather obsessed by them. no need for thanks. money works better. didnt you write something like this earlier?

  22. Darrius Gothly wrote: Dogboat, this is an issue you've belabored many times before. No, not the child avatars on adult land issue. I'm talking about the difference between "Allowed" and "Required". From your perspective, everything allowed is also required. It's Adult Rated land, so by golly raunchy adult-only things MUST be done there too. Sorry son, but that's incorrect. There are many examples in life where the two concepts are distinctly different. One that springs to mind is the Autobahn in Germany. On that highway, there is no real speed limit, so drivers are allowed to drive as fast as they can safely manage. However no one is required to drive at their personal max speed. In the Express Lane at the grocery store, a shopper is allowed to have up to 15 items in their cart. But people are not required to purchase 15 items. Now back to the Child Avatars on Adult-rated Land issue: Just because the land ratings allow it to be used for Adult activities in no way connotes a requirement to do Adult-rated things there. As long as you keep those two concepts separate in your mind, you'll find you can understand life a whole lot better. Now please go back and study these some more ... then try again. With practice I'm sure you can comprehend this simple difference. Darrius, i think you should give up trying to understand whats going on.
  23. Darrius Gothly wrote: Well .. since I seem to have exhausted all other possibilities, I am left with the only remaining one .. that being you are attempting to insinuate that I am somehow equivalent to Hannibal Lecter because I know and understand people with likes and preferences that are outside the norm. Is that the point you wish to make? omg, you think thats it? totally wrong darrius.
  24. Darrius Gothly wrote: As soon as you explain to me why the existence of a mass murderer like Hannibal Lecter proves that all people that want more than they have are criminals. i can't darrius, you don't understand what the point was and it has nothing to do with people wanting more than they have being criminals.
