  1. Rhino is not really compatible with SL, not right out of the box. At least i haven't found an easy way. Rhinos collada has been giving pretty odd results, but it's easy enough to convert through blender, using another file format. Rhinos UV mapping tools are also... working slightly in mysterious ways. Haven't been able to have any other program accept Rhino's UV-mapping. Also, you can't rig. I wouldn't rule Rhino out entirely though, for mesh creation. Building anything non-organic in it becomes very intuitive, wth just a little learning. If you can think it, and describe in words how you'd make it, you can do it in Rhino. You can write commands of what you want to do, and Rhino helps you along both with a list of things you can do, and then how it works. I wouldn't recommend it on it's own, but with other tools, it can work out decently. It can feel pretty similar to Maya, so if you already have Maya, Rhino gets redundant.
  2. Twitch ban imo is pretty silly. Yes, ban unsuitable content if you like, but banning a type of media? It would be like facebook banning photos because someone *might* post a nipple.
  3. First of all, there is this thing called parental supervision where the adult decides if their kid can use a program or not. Deciding someone else should do the task of parenting their children is irresponsible. Secondly, there is no sheltered bubble in RL either. You say that people say mature things on G rated land. Yes it happens, just as it happens in RL. Someone speaks of their love life on the bus, someone stubs their toe and drops the F-bomb, etc. It happens. The moral police doesn't jump out of a bush and haul them away. In the normal world, it's rather expected that a 16 year old should be able to handle such things without getting traumatized. Below 16? Then you aren't even supposed to be here. See point number one about parental responsibility. Lastly, mature content doesn't sneak up on you from nowhere. Unlike Games, the virtual world gives you a lot of freedom but also own responsibility. If someone is saying things you don't want to hear, you can very easily mute them, derender them, or go elsewhere. Don't like sexually oriented content? Then don't go to places with sexually oriented content. They don't want you there just as much as you don't want IT. To me it sounds lot like you are stepping into someones sandbox and want to kick their sandcastle over because you don't like it. Consider that maybe that sandcastle wasn't built to amuse you, but the occupants of the sandbox.
  4. Vir Linden wrote: To do a “touch your toes” animation, you would have to move every joint of the upper body at every keyframe. With a conventional skeleton, you would have to bend at the waist and shoulders, and the rest of the bones could just follow along based on the skeletal hierarchy. I believe this is a false assumption. You can never animate a "touch your toes" position by leaving any joints untouched/unanimated with the conventional skeleton. It leaves those joints "free" and they will be animated, but by the default SL animations. This is a very common beginner mistake when people make poses. " I made a sit, but my foot/head/arm is twitching/moving". Every joint has to be moved to become locked in it's position, unless it's planned to be animated by another animation, but eiher way, no joints are ever left unanimated, at least in the current body. I believe the exceptions are very few, like leaving the neck or head free to move, so the avatars head follows the camera. Most of the time though, it's undesired.
  5. Ok, i'll bite: You can make a sculpts physical size much larger than it's visual representation. Meaning also you can resize it to much smaller, while a mesh physical shape sticks to it's viasual size. So if you make mesh jewelry components, you kinda have to be aware that you might run into size limitation for each component. But then aqgain, you can add some invisible verts, invisible box around, etc. So in the end it is kinda the same anyways. Sculpts have no advantage over mesh there. There are two things sculpts have advantage over mesh still- Large 1 LI shapes, and changing sculpt map through UUID of the sculpt texture.

It was in 4.7.5.47888 Haven't tried 4.7.5, after the hours of trying to troubleshoot the mesh and yanking my hair out, i decided to stick to what i know works. Uploaded the mesh with older firestorm without a hitch.
  7. iOthman wrote: No they don't have spaces. Must be the new update. AFTER reading this post, Reverting to the previous viewer version solved the problem. Had this problem with a beta version of Firestorm not too long ago (my friend uploading my mesh). For us it went as far as the person changing the textures on faces would see them correctly for a moment, then they would revert after a while, or when the object was copied. The mesh wasn't rigged. Tried to ask about it in the firestorm help group, but after a snippy answer about betas being tested at own risk etc etc, i got pretty fed up and didn't jira it either. Worked just fine to upload on older versions of firestorm & newest LL viewer.
  8. "We are still working on an important feature, which will allow you to exclude keywords (such as “demo”) from your search - but want to get this into your hands now and get your feedback! " We shouldn't have to exclude demos from search results - EVER! If we have to rely on that sort of mechanism, just like keywords it will always be subject to abuse. Just giving us boolean NOT will not work. DEMO, D*E*M*O, D-Emo etc. let alone different languages. ALL demos should be a separate object type! There is NO neeed to include the demo's the the search, ever. Being able to exclude keywors- are you kidding me? Like, really, this is what you point out as a new feature? I'm feeling insulted, because this is like pointing out we are straight up stupid. The NOT operator has been around for a long time already, and working on the marketplace as well. Need i mention that if a keywords exclusion targets one specific keyword, the keyword changes? We are able to search for "whatever NOT demo" and have been able to for a long time. Why do you figure there are so many things named "d*e*m*o and similar? And if you try to fuzzy-catch all the demo iterations, it will just change to "tester" and "tryout" and what not. The only sollution is to have it as a different object type, that can be excluded from search with a tick of a box. And flag the demos of a wrong object type. The whole " we will give you a feature you already have & it will never work, because it can't " is the kind of stuff that makes my blood boil. (Here's an example -looking for a "dress NOT demo", in the 0-10 ls span, sorting lowest to highest price to have any demo's float up. The Demo's present are the one that are dodging the NOT operator on purpose.) https://marketplace.secondlife.com/products/search?utf8=%E2%9C%93&search[layout]=gallery&search[category_id]=38&search[sort]=price_asc&search[per_page]=96&search[keywords]=dress+NOT+demo&search[price_low]=0&search[price_high]=10&search[prim_count_low]=&search[prim_count_high]=&search[copy_permission]=0&search[modify_permission]=0&search[transfer_permission]=0
  9. Linden Lab had nothing to do with your transaction, why it's not up to them to refund you any money. Linden Lab didn't scam you. It's like this. Imagine Second Life is a bus, a vehicle for strangers to gather and go places. What you did, was making an agreement with a stranger on the bus, to pay them some money for something. It's all good, it's up to you to trust a stranger. But that stranger took your money and got off the bus. Now you want the bus driver to pay you back for your loss. The bus driver is not police, or a judge and jury, and will not go look for the stranger for you.
  10. Sorry but no. Motion capture animations have the same issue. I use motion capture animations for the AO only. Doesn't help. And no, i have perfectly proportionate arms.
  11. Pussycat Catnap wrote: This means your animations are NOT motion capture, but hand-made... And as such... they were made for an avatar with T-rex arms rather than normal arms. Normal arms... require an arm length dial of 90-100... Hand made animations are often made for arms that are only half as long as the arms of a human body should be... Doesn't need to be that way at all, rather the other way around. The animations are made for a taller avatar. WIth a longer upper arm, the arms manage to strech outside the chest area. Shorter avatar will have issues with the arms sinking into the chest. Having an avatar with RL proportions, i encounter this often.
  12. Are you this nice to customers too?
  13. Don't use renders. Show mesh as it is in second life when you sell. When people see that mesh looks different in the picture than in second life, they will be upset and give you a bad review. Because they didn't get what they saw in the ad picture. You can show the mesh using different settings in second life, like different windlight, and ultra graphics setting that will show shadows. Take photos from second life.

The message goes through just as well with a warning, that if you do it again, then ban. Alienates fewer paying customers, too. Because you really don't want to ban out your moneycows for a minor transgression. Well, just like RL, if you walk around with a picture of your junk on your shirt the authorities will arrest you if someone reports you. Having a dikpic on your profile is essentially the same thing. I would say thats very doubtful, that a cgi image of a dick would get you arrested, without prior warning, like "cover it up or you are coming with us". Do anatomically correct statues get arrested? Also, as far as i understand, it wasn't a profile picture but a pick picture. That requires an active action of clicking on the profile and going through the picks to see it, which is not correct with the shirt analogy. It's definitely stupid to ban customers for minor things that they could receive a warning for. Same effect (picture removed and action not repeated) but a lot, lot less badwill.

  16. Fishii is a mainland sim, and if you are owning it and paying tier directly to LL, you have to have premium. However you can rent both in private regions and on mainland without having a premium account. Then you pay to another resident (landlord) that pays in turn to LL. It can sometimes be a little more expensive, but if you are from europe and pay VAT, it can as well be cheaper.
  17. They had announced downtime today. Try again tomorrow.
  18. Phil Deakins wrote: There are no official in-world helpers. Any that exist are merely users, like you and me, who help voluntarily, and are nothing to do with LL. So there can be no criticism of them in the same way that company's help line can be criticised. Any in-world helper that isn't a Linden employee (and even sometimes actual Lindens) will not be able to "fix" something for a single user. Which is actually fine, since 99% of all the problems are user errors. In-world helpers are very valuble, they help users to help themselves. Showing them where to read about the thing they need help with, so they don't have to search for sollutions themselves.
  19. knotmaster wrote: so I thought why not build my own mesh avatar a real mesh avatar that you can wear a skin on just like any other linden labs avatar. (...) also I am trying to figure out a way to uvmap it so that if you had a skin you liked you could just apply it over the mesh shape, but I am not sure that is even possible, I am new to all this mesh stuff. anyway I would appreciate any feed back or help anyone can give me thanks knot Unfortunately, it's not posible to make a mesh avatar that works just like the standard system avatars. You will not be able to: 1. Wear a skin that is asystem skin, like you can on your regular avatar. The skin maker will have to provide you either with an applier, or the texture of the skin itself. Some make appliers for mesh bodies, but you will never get a skin texture unless it's a freebie to begin with. 2. Wear system alphas that make part of the body invisible. Even fitted mesh clothing will have bits of avatar sometimes poking through- since the clothes are not weight painted exactly the same as the body. 3. Wear system layer clothing without usig an applier or having the texture itself. With all the above in mind, it doesn't mean you should stop making your mesh avatar! By the time you have your mesh body ready, maybe there are new sollutions to both 1,2 and 3.
  20. Reply to Lexbot Sinister - view message ‎10-01-2014 09:09 AM Because you replied to me, not the OP. Anyhow, the discussion has moved on. The OP thought that they could do something about the situation, thinking wrongfully that they owned the IP rights to a fullperm item. Having that ironed out, i haven't seen them claim they would counter anyways? So i'm not sure why you jump into conclusions, and address me with them.
  21. Pamela Galli wrote: Anyone, including the OP, can file a counter claim but if they do not hold the IP rights, it is a felony to do so. Anyone can claim to be a police officer, but it's a felony to do so. Anyone can commit A, B or C crime but it's a felony to do so. It kinda goes without saying, don't you think? I was explaining that the OP doesn't posess the entire IP to the outfit they put together. Then even the OP can understand that they can't counter a DMCA for something they don't own the IP rights to. Not sure what you find to be the issue there.
  22. Dracona Thor wrote: I just got notified an item was removed "Removed under our Intellectual Property Policy" But the outfit was made by me, from full perm items bought or images I uploaded and there's no details why... what the hell do I do?? I'm really upset as I thought up this costume on my own and made it, it's not based on anything except mine. The intellectual property rights are MINE. Is there any way to recind this?? The bolded part is a contradiction. You say that the outfit is not based on anything except yours, but it's based on something you bought full perms. That means it's actually based, fully or in part, on the fullperms object. When you buy something, you haven't created it. The intelectual property then is not fully yours. You have bought a license to use someones intellectual property. Assuming you created the images/textures uploaded yourself, that part is your own intellectual property. The fullperm objects could be legitimately the IP of the seller, but sometimes it happens that they actually downloaded it from a game etc, and don't have a license to re-sell them. The rightful owner of the IP them files a DMCA, and that fullperm object gets removed from SL. You can ask the seller of the fullperm objects if they have had the objects removed. It's only them that can counterfile the DMCA then. If it was your textures/your objects that got DMCA'd, i think the letter from LL would link you to a counterfiling process. Can someone correct me on this? I have had an item removed on IP claims only once, and it was also incorrectly removed. Upon contacting the (very) reputable seller, i was immediately offered a replacement copy.
  23. mobiusonemasterchief Infinity wrote: textures will alter the LI of a build ? ........... Yes, but not any textures, not the diffuse map. The specular map and the normal map will. You are very much welcome to rant at LL for this if you like- I have been, frequently, since materials came out. Apparently it works as intended. That it confuses the heck out of even a seasoned builder, is dismissed. So i'm just saying what to look out for, then LI rises.
  24. Did you put materials on it? Specular textures, normal maps, etc? Check the texture tab. In that case, it's not a glitch but the new LI accounting, that reflects the real physics impact of the build on the sim. If you want to keep materials, but get a "normal" prim LI, go look for toruses and other twisted prims and set their physics shape to none. You can do that to all prims except the root. They will be walk-through, but get lower LI. added: The Li will shoot up if there are materials anywhere on the linked build, and you link turtured prims to it. Set the physics shape of the prims to none.
  25. Is that you or someone else on the picture? If that is you: You are wearing a mesh body. You can detach it if you want, or put clothes on it. Beware that mesh bodies work differently than the standard avatars! Read the information you got together with the mesh body. If that is someone else: That is someone trying on a mesh body, and maybe configuring it ( no hands). If it disturbs you, you can leave the area and teleport somewhere else.
