  1. That would show up on your transaction history, on your dashboard. No matter if the transaction is of a monetary gift, paying an object, or using the marketplace. All L$ transactions and the use of pay/buy function will show up there.
  2. Again? Every time i start to rp, this happens. LE SIGH.
  3. In order for a listing to be removed, does the merchant both have to been missing for 5 years AND the product not sold in 2 years, or does it apply if either one or the other condition is met?
  4. See, you are onto something here: it's a fake. It's not real. Nobody is getting harmed. Not unlike as... doing it in a movie. Or in pixels!
  5. Optimo, you previous posts about Rhino generating high-poly mesh that needs to be taken to another software for reduction certainly made me think you never touched it before. Also the feature you describe for Maya is nothing like the one like in Rhino. Just because both use commands, doesn't mean it's the same, or even comparable. CreateNURBSCube < box Again, i'm not advocating the use of Rhino for SL- i haven't found a way to make compatible UV mapping. Had some limited luck with Planar. Nor can you do any rigging. But just like all other software, it's evolving. Zbrush wasn't good for anything in SL either, not too long ago. And Marvelous designer, same there. Who knows what extensions Rhino might have in the future, i wouldn't count it out. I think the logic of how the functions operate are brilliant, and easy to follow.
  6. That looks quite a bit more convoluted than in Rhino. I think you are missing my point. You LITERALLY write "box" in the command line, and then rhino guides you step by step to how to make it. NOT a script line with specific syntax. Rhino takes care of that on it's own, it just asks you questions. Edit: Optimo, have you actually used Rhino, or seen Rhino used? It feels like we are comparing apples to oranges, and i find it disturbing that people who have no clue how rhino works, what it's capable of and not, have to come and tell us all about it, in a Rhino dedicated thread.
  7. I mean you literally say what you want to do, in that it's very similar to CAD, but with better syntax. So say i want to make a box. I write... "box" and rhino tells me to pick the first corner of my box (the default setting) but also allows me to pick some other options, like creating from center, vertical , etc. So now i have my box but i want to rotate it... So i write "rotate". Then i want to twist my box so i write that, and Rhino asks me for first point of axis, end of twist axis, then a few alternatives of how to go about the twisting. When i write a command, Rhino shows a couple of other commands with similar wording, in case i actually meant something else, from a drop-down list. The beauty of this, is that the program is starting to teach you to verbally form your thoughts on how to achieve a certain shape. If you can say it, you can make it! If you want to do an action that you aren't sure exists, you can try and write it- and Rhino will guide you along, both in finding it, and how to go about making it work. Rhino is basically the " scribblenauts" of 3d modelling software. Everything is available as menus and pictograms too, so you can do the same thing in a multitude of ways by clicking icons, but verbally expressing what you want to do is actually faster and more intuitive, from my experience. Icons in all their glory of course, but when you try to look for one you don't even know if it exists or not, maybe it will show what you want to do in a clear way..... just typing what you want to do is superior. Now having said that, Maya has a lot more to offer than Rhino. If i had to learn it all over, i would pick Maya any day to spend my energy on. But that doesn't take away from how fun Rhino can be to use.
  8. If learning a program to use in SL, on their own, i wouldn't advise to pick up Rhino either. If leaning from scratch? i'd definitely go with Maya or Blender. You will need to learn a bit Blender anyhow if you want to export anything from Rhino. But if someone is already learning Rhino in school and are getting significantly proficient in it, why not continue? Just use another program to cover up for Rhinos shortcomings. It's still less to learn than a whole program. Rhino is really nice once you figure out the logic of how it's built and how the functions work. Then it's as simple to build as it is saying what you want to do.
  9. It is NURBS based modelling, yes, but when you convert your model to polys, you can decide exactly how many polys you want, and how the model should be triangulated. It's only high-poly if you have selected it to become high poly! Rhino has nice poly reduction tools as well, so i don't understand the need for exporting it to 3dsmax. Rhino has still plenty of shortcommings, but i think we could stick to the actual shortcomings it has, not start inventing them.
  10. Swap mesh edge function in Rhino. From the looks of it, it will only work for one edge at a time. I would bet though that there is a script one could download that repeats the function for all faces (if that is required)
  11. Rhino does perfectly fine low-poly topology for meshes if you know exactly what you are doing. There's also features for reducing tri's on a higher poly mesh, and it can be pretty alright as well, with certain types of areas being more troublesome (and certain areas less!) Building in rhino can be as simple as saying what you want to to, because you can write commands and Rhino will help you along to get where you are going. My praise part ends there though. It's possible to assign materials, and make some sort of UV mapping too, but i haven't found a way to export to collada yet. There is a collada extension, but it doesn't work (for me at least) to take things to SL. Also the UV mapping doesn't seem to be compatible with anything else, either. So Rhino isn't really a very functional tool for SL, and as far as i know, there are no rigging tools at all. So it can be a part of a work flow, but doesn't cover all areas needed for SL. If i had to pick something similar to Rhino to learn, i'd go with Maya.
  12. 1. If you have a mesh head, try turning on the alpha sections to make the scalp invisible 2. If you don't have a mesh head, look if there are any alphas in the same folder as you have the hair. Wearing a head alpha might help. 3. The hair is most likely going to be too small for the head still, judging by how it cuts into the cheek. Since you say it worked before, is it perhaps so that you used another hair in that folder that you had resized? Otherwise you will have to resize it. Since it's no mod, the resize is most likely by script. Try clicking the hair once. A menu for resize might pop up. if not, look if there is any HUD in the folder the hair came with. That sometimes also contains a resize button.
  13. The screeshot would really help, yes.
  14. This is how you kill a forum for anyone actually enjoying SL. It's just not worth it, to post anything.
  15. ..... You mean you enjoy that your premium money is spent on creating that junk? Alright. I would rather see my premium-dollars at work with something else.
  16. I'll take two of "stipend", two "tier free land allotment" and a side of " VIP line at events". The rest has kind of a funky, laggy aftertaste. Oh and PLEASE hold back on the premium " gifts" , we don't need more cheap plastic toys to pollute the seas with.
  17. When people change names, what happens to parcel banlists? Estate banlists? Security orb banlists?
  18. There are quite a few cute skins at this years skinfair catwa fair. Oh wait my head is not catwa. NM.
  19. Nowadays all abandoned mainland is either sold through auctions, or directly if the person what asks for purchase has a very strong case to buy the land. It wasn't always this way. A few years ago (4?5?) ALL abandoned land was set for sale automatically, at 1 L$/sqm. What happened was, that all mainland plot prices plummeted, and only those adjacent to a significant feature, like protected water, held any value. Then LL stopped putting up mainland for sale automatically. As for " Nobody would sit on one, paying tier for months, hoping it sold" - yes they do. I don't think i'm allowed to tell you why and how, but they do. Also LOTS of mainland owners paid no more than 1 L$/sqm for land, actually the prices were even cheaper, in order to sell a plot you had to go as low as 0.2 L$/sqm, and then some landbot would take it. Land did indeed sit abandoned for months, years even, and set for sale! There are still people sitting on land they didn't pay for to buy at all. " First land" was long ago given by LL for free, but i forgot how many sqm that was. I missed out anyhow.
  20. I also think LL should consider cutting up some land on the mainland, and set it for sale. There are many people that either have premium, or consider premium but looking for decently priced land on mainland is prohibitively hard and the parcels are severely overpriced, considering a lot of them were sold back when ALL land that was abandoned became set for sale at 1L$/sqm automatically. I don't think the competition with estates and estate renters would be that great, as i believe it's a different demographic. It's people without any interest in paying for Premium, and people who want better management/control than Mainland can offer. The problem is rather land value, and if it makes people less inclined to hang on to the land they currently posses. When all abandoned mainland was set automatically for a superlow price, the land value plummeted like a rock, and if you bought/sold, you would go below 1 L$/sqm. Right now the average is higher, but i don't know any exact numbers. It seems to be somewhere between 6-20 L$/sqm, depending on attractiveness. The other thing is that if less land is available, people are less inclined to abandon their parcel. Land without value can be bought and abandoned at a whim, at any time. If you abandon land with a higher value, there is a loss, and if you want to buy some again, it will be at a significant cost, so people are more likely to hang on, and keep paying tier.
  21. I'm having a feeling that no Linden is going to touch this topic with a ten foot pole even, aside the poor soul sent to sanitize this thread.
  22. I understand that you felt that you were rightfully chosen, but do you think your talent is hard to spot, or more of a safe bet? If your talent is of the more striking, obvious kind, then it doesn't take so many differing views and people to acknowledge it. It's when it comes to artists that either haven't polished their craft fully, or operate on the fringe of what is generally accepted as art (while art SHOULD push boundaries) where it's necessary that it's not the same handful of people that call all the shots, in all perpetuity. The committee itself, should be able to acknowledge that they need new eyes now and then.
  23. No, that is correct. Each person has their own point of view, experiences and tastes to lean on. This doesn't mean of course " the more people the better", only that this form of a committee should acknowledge that with fewer members, their experience and knowledge base narrows. Wouldn't that be important of the committee to acknowledge, and work against any tendencies of homogenization? Committee and judges wouldn't need to be the same people even.
