  1. That's because the arrow only appears when you land somewhere you didn't ask to land (geez that came out bad) In other words, if you teleport based on an old landmark but the land settings force you to a different landing point, the arrow shows you where you "asked" to be teleported to. If in fact you land exactly where you "asked" to teleported to, then the red beacon does not appear. --Cinn
  2. Well I think I asked the wrong question. I was really just trying to find out if an avatar is ban and deleted do the inworld objects that they own stay in place or disappear. I guess if a basic account is never truly deleted that answers the question. But are perm banned accounts deleted and if so, what happens to those inworld objects? I would hate to see all of my malls disappear because my avi got banned. But I think even without knowing the answer, the proper thing to do is to go through the process of archiving the buildings (probably in a rezzer) on a regular basis and making sure the land owner has copies. --Cinn
  3. Hi Cynthia, Assuming they are on, they will sometimes slip off the edge of the screen. Look very carefully along the edges of the viewer window and see if there might be just a little bit of them showing. Then you can drag click and drag them back into the center. --Cinn
  4. Well I would assume that objects I created would continue to exist as long as someone else owns them. I'm referring only to objects which I still own but are rezzed inworld.
  5. Ok, didn't mean to be overly dramatic with the title.  But I do have a serious question.  I have alot of buildings that I built and that still show me as the owner.  But they are on another persons land and used to support their business.  I suppose I should work up a plan to transfer them to the land owner, but we get along great and there's been no reason to worry.  Plus we change things on a regular basis (just put the Christmas decorations up ) But what if my avatar was perm banned and then deleted?  Would all my inworld objects that I own disappear? Keeps me up at night. --Cinn
  6. Unless you know them in real life and can call them, there is really no way of knowing if a person has been banned from second life. Linden Labs is not going to tell you. And searching for their name in the people roster or groups would be inconclusive, especially if its just a temporary ban. --Cinn
  7. Very true. You should always be suspicious of anybody "air-typing" when they talk.
  8. Yes that works. /me shouts "OK RAISE YOUR HAND IF YOU'RE NOT HERE!!!" --Cinn
  9. Ernie, You should really pick up the phone and call Linden directly. This is a member monitored blog and not so much a Linden one. Only LL will be able to determine if lmunet.edu has been flagged as a single household account. --Cinn
  10. Hi Testa, You are asking for 2 separate things here it looks like. One is a profit sharing vendor or vendor script. Those are easy to find. Just do a search for profit split vendor or something similar in the marketplace. The shop owners ability to move your objects around is actually much harder and not so much a scripting issue as a trust issue. As a mall manager, part of my job is to get vendor booths rented out and help the vendors as well as monitor their prim use and make sure they are within their contracted prim limit. However I cannot move their objects. If a vendor has a roque item outside of their booth (happens all the time, item slips out of control while being placed) the only recourse I have is to return it to them. Only when a vendor is willing to offer friendship and allow me permission to modify their objects can I actually move their stuff around. So if you are going to maintain ownership of your items and the scripted vendor selling them, then the shop owner will only be able to move them if he/she is on your friends list and has permission to mod your objects. The other way is to have the shop owner "own" the stuff until sold and trust them with the consigned goods. Hope that helps --Cinn
  11. Hi Siggy, Two things to make this work Use the Make Outfit feature in Edit Appearence. This will COPY everything you select into a folder with the name of your choice. You can include hair, skin, shape and eyes as well as all clothes and attachments including huds. Second, you need to buy items that are copy. The above technique will only work if everything you have on is copy. If you have a fav pair of boots that are no copy, then unfortunately, this will not work and each time you create an outfit using those boots, they will move to the new folder. Hope that helps! --Cinn
  12. You should downgrade your account to a basic account if you don't want to pay premium anymore. Doing that should keep all your account in tact. The only issue would be if you owned land. If you just stopped paying for your premium account I'm not sure what would happen. --Cinn
  13. Having rented my mainland parcel in the past, I will attempt to answer your question. Although I think group permissions and group land are probably some of the hardest concepts to work through. 1) I know that, if I deed the land to a group, and "donate" it as the owner, I can get a discount on my tier. I am very confused as to how I can figure out how much land I am allowed to donate (or agree to donate) in order to make this happen. When I have tried to do so with my parcels, I consistently get a message that I am donating too much...I cannot recall the wording, but that is basically what I am told. I wouldn't think of it as a discount on your tier. What you get is an additional 10% land tier coverage. I'll use an example where only you (1 person) is donating to the group. You donate 1000sqm. The group can now own 1100sqm of land (10% more) However if you only donate 900sqm thinking that the group bonus will cover the rest (100) you will be short because 10% of 900 is only 90 and now the group has 990 instead of the 1000 you were trying to get. So you work backwards. If you want the group to own 1000sqm of land than your donation needs to be 910sqm for a group total of 1001. This gets more confusing if donations are coming in from other people but the principle is the same. 2) If I do deed the land to a group, and donate (or not, depending on the answer to question #1 above) do renters need to be members of that group in order to rezz objects, set home, etc? Yes, you need to make your renters members of the land group so that they have the necessary privileges like set home. You could just open up the land privs to all, like a sandbox, but then you subject yourself to non-renters using your prims. The key is setting up a role in the group just for your renters and giving that role the appropriate group permissions. Don't set them to the Everyone role as you may need to set your renters privs to none temporarily. That's one way to get their attention if the rent is overdue without tossing them from the group. So a separate role for your renters with just the permissions you want them to have. This is a tedious process since there are so many group privs. Too many to cover here. Frankly, I created my first alt just to figure out how the various group privs worked. 3) If the parcels are both on the same sim, and owned by the same owner, I understand you can "draw" prims off of one parcel for another. Is that correct? Do they need to be in the same group, just owned by the same person...or what, exactly? What might I be missing? The only thing I really understand is they must be on the same sim...so Rollie can draw off of Rollie, but not off Hogadon. That is fine, but I want to be sure I can give renters what I promise. Yes. As long as all the parcels are on the same sim AND they are owned by the same person or group, the prims are pooled for use across the parcels. For example I current own 4096 for my Taste of Cinnamon shop in Gianno sim. Even though the land parcel are next to each other, the sim does not allow me to join them (its a Zindra/Kama City thing) But all 937 prim are available across the 3 parcels. One of the 1024 parcel has 275 prim on it even though that parcel only support 234. As long as I don't exceed the total simulator prim allotment I am fine. Hope that helps a little --Cinn
  14. Hi Sillum, Thx. As I mentioned above, Edit Appearance is the quick fix I use as well. But upgrading to the latest viewer has not cured the problem for me. Having to Edit Appearance 2-3 times a session is annoying but not life threatening But I would love this to go away. I plan on buying a new computer for Christmas so am hopeful that a fresh install on a more powerful system with latest graphics tecnology will fix this. The problem started with the 1.23 viewer and has simply not gone away for me. Thx! --Cinn
  15. Baeric.Constantine wrote: I see why that is annoying... Is it that one skin? Or is it the shape? Or a combination that renders them incompatible with each other? All my alts have the problem. Logged two on to check. Different shapes, different skins. Same annoying problem. I might just convert one back to a default noob avatar just to see what happens. --Cinn
  16. As stated, the patch size varies from day to day. If you check out my current profile you will definately see why this is so annoying. And THIS is after the server upgrade today. Isn't there ANYONE out there who might have an idea what is causing this?? --Cinn
  17. I've uploaded a picture of my neck (with invisible patch) into my profile. The patch varies in size from day to day. As stated, it will go away when I Edit Appearence. Rebake doesn't seem to work. And it will come back sometimes after a transport. --Cinn
  18. Hi Ella, Just checked my graphics settings and I have Hardware Skinning turned off already. So that's not the fix. If someone would post the codes I need to show an image in this blog, I will be happy to post a picture of this. Thx! Cinn
  19. Well a sim restart will usually fix this. The good news for you is that there is a server upgrade starting tomorrow and all sims will be rebooted across the next 2 days. So be patient and you should be ok shortly. By the way, if you've not done so already set your alts and avatar so that they can see one another on the map. So if you do get ghosted again like this, your alt can locate you and verify exactly where you are. This seems to happen alot right on the sim borders and unless you can verify the right sim, it makes it harder. But again. Sims are all being updated and rebooted in the next two day so you should be ok shortly --Cinn
  20. Just another point. I'm not a skin designer, but I believe these invisible spots show where the skin seams are located. Almost like the skin doesn't fit anymore. Maybe it shrunk in the wash Odd though that it goes away for me when I Edit Apperance. --Cinn
  21. I think I remember something about this in the old Xstreet forum when the release came out. I thought the fix had to do with one of the parameters in the Debug Settings... Some parameter that was set down too far. It was probably an Anne OToole post. But I can't find it either. Well looking at the bright side, at least I won't get bitten by a Bloodlines vamp --Cinn Message was edited by: Cinnamon Lohner Yes updated the drivers on the Nvidea computer. The laptop belongs to work, so I just have to leave that one alone
  22. Yes I've had this problem for weeks now. I think it started with 1.23.4 release. It shows up mainly on my neck. Looks like my head is detached from the body except for a small tab of skin in front. It effects me and my alts. And it shows up on both my computers. One has an Nvidea card and the other is a laptop with a builtin Intel graphics subsystem. Rebake doesn't always help. I usually find that I have to Edit Appearence. Once I do that, it goes away for awhile but sometimes comes back after a teleport. I would LOVE someone to figure this one out. It annoys the heck out of me --Cinn Message was edited by: Cinnamon Lohner Oh and as a side note, I only use the SL viewer
  23. The default setting for snapshots is to hide all the windows, titles, huds, etc. If you wish to see those in your photo, click on the snapshot button and when the snapshot preview window appears, click on the More button. Now you can choose to Show Interface in snapshot and Show HUD objects in snapshot. Hope that helps! --Cinn
  24. Thanks everyone. I think the original question is answered and I thank you all for that. I still would like to know if there is a potential security hole here where a device like this can ban someone from group land even if the owner of the device did not have proper authority to ban. But I suspect that's a dumb question to ask since it opens a nasty can of worms and insight to what is possibly a griefing tool. If anyone does have any visibility into the security aspects of preventing such a device from being improperly used, please IM in world or post here if you think the information is relevent as safe Thanks --Cinn
  25. Ok. Can such a security device also override the group priv setting? As stated, the person suspected of doing this did not have the authority in the group to ban anyone. I'm still combing through the group settings looking for a backdoor security hole but haven't found one.
