Leave other people alone. Or do as others have suggested and make your own. SL doesn't owe you a thing! That's ridiculous. This suggestion cannot be serious. So, if no one is on the sim where my home is, griefers should go there and start their particle war, leave, and, when I return, I have to deal with the crap? Or worse, they have crashed the sim and I cannot get there without requesting a restart? No thanks. While the suggestion was serious, you are correct, I didn't go far enough in my explanation of what I was talking about. I meant an empty sim, devoid of property. "Leave other people alone" includes other people's property.
  2. There you go! And now you can stretch out the length of the paper by adding more graphs and charts! LoL (Told you I was watching someone else's project!) Is the link to the new survey the same as the other? Good luck to you.

Or do as others have suggested and make your own. SL doesn't owe you a thing! That's ridiculous. There's another thread here about why "you" think you deserve a free region. Post there. Personally I'd rather the chick with the 1920s Berlin sim get the honors. Meanwhile, I think I'm going to go sit with Griffin. Hopefully there are scones in addition to the crumpets. "Pass me a scone, luv, and the clotted cream?"
  4. This falls under the heading of "not my project not my problem" but also under the heading of "constructive criticism." I read your proposal with interest. I have recently been watching a friend also write a thesis regarding aspects of virtual worlds. I have not participated in any virtual teams but I know people who have. I sent them the url to your post. The following response was typical: Well that was rather short-lived. "Have you ever managed a virtual team" Managed? No. End of survey. lol By your introduction you mentioned participation in a virtual team as well as the management. It seems like you can learn from participants of teams as well as the managers. Perhaps I am mistaken. Just an observation. If you opened the survey up to people who have participated you might get a bigger sampling.

But the point here is that, I got banned not because guilty people feeling righteous about me breaking the TOS... hehehehe... SOME people just have no sense of humor. :matte-motes-evil-grin:
  6. Willow Danube wrote: Pranskter Advance: Banned by LL for walking around in Zindra with a profile saying, "I'm here to spy on my RL cheating husband. Don't you think I don't know about it. You will hear from my lawyer very soon". I only survived two days with that account. LoL and huh? Why did THAT get you banned? What part of TOS was that violating? You didn't disclose any RL info. You could have been RPing an angry wife.
  7. Thanks for the replies folks. This should be common knowledge and practice but: NEVER click on a link from spam! Any more than you download attachments from spam in your email.
  8. The coffee I had this morning is finally starting to wake me up: Virtual Birth Control: In that special moment try out a new attachment, gadget, animation and not be able to figure out how it works so that after 10 minutes of "try this!" you both collapse into a pile of hopeless laughter and decide to go catch a live music show instead. Seemed Like a Good Idea At The Time: Do the above with BDSM equipment and RLV. Get It Off Me!: Play with a collar and RLV, have no idea how it works, get hopelessly stuck and have to restart SL, deactivate RLV, remove the collar and go catch a live music show instead. These are hypothetical, right? Not necessarily having ever happened to the poster? Right? Making them up.
  9. The "watch this tv show" is a new kind of spam for me to see in these forums, any forums, for that matter. a) Why can't they filter these out? and b) What is the possible incentive for the spammer? Is there some kind of monetary reimbursement for this?
  10. Oh! Oh!: The 70's Are Not Dead: Wear bling Retro Child: Wear bling at more than one attachment (left and right ears for earrings do not count) We Have to Stop Meeting Like This: TP into a sim and flail on top of a complete stranger's head for at least a minute White Cane: Walk quickly after arriving in a sim, before things are rezzed, and plow through at least one person Freight train: Plow through at least three people on a sim without acknowledgement Second Look: Be unable to stop yourself from plowing through another avatar, that you see, then rubber band back through them. I Have Powers: Walk through at least three walls during an uncontrolled walk through a sim.
  11. I'm enjoying the contributions to this thread; I'm just too dull at the moment to add to it. They've all made me laugh and I seem to have earned quite a few of them. Where do I collect?

( Sadly, the indications are things are moving in the totally opposite direction as for what you are whimpering.) We're delusional because we don't like the state of things? Okay... What exactly are you talking about, though? Opposite direction where? No. You read me backwards. I'm agreeing with you, for the most part. I think it is wishful thinking (smoking some fine locoweed) to think that there is any way that it is going to be as Ceka suggested: A different party that will tell the other two to STFU so something can get done. If anything the indications are things are moving in the totally opposite direction as that, with the candidates and parties moving to ever more polarized positions so that we can be guaranteed even more crap set of choices and even less being done with each new political cycle that is never ending. Election day leads right into the next campaign session which brings us more political rhetoric, all style and no substance. I wish it were otherwise.

  16. Qwalyphi Korpov wrote: um, I'm role playing a pro-local conversation militant. That makes it hard to be reasonable/rational but I do promise to stop real soon. Hahaha! OK. A role-playing, militant chipmunk on the pro-local conversation gig. Got it. That's one of those "only in SL" sentences, like "do you remember where I bought my hair?"
  17. Storm Clarence wrote: PS Eight posts with a popcorn eating avatar. I get the feeling you are going to be fun to watch. It isn't like the badges are rocket science or anything! (A very small inside joke there, folks, as I PM'd Storm to find out how to make the badge thing work because I was having technical difficulties.) I'll toss some popcorn up to you if you pass down some of the martinis from your avatar. I'll admit it, while somewhat new to this Forum -- although I debuted here a year ago -- I've been known to bust a few moves elsewhere, just not SL related. Wanna dance?:matte-motes-bored:
  18. Griffin Ceawlin wrote: Gee, I opened this expecting a joke about a feline, a priest, and a rabbi. You beat me to it. That's exactly what I was thinking, too. "A cat goes into a ball and says to the bartender..." and LoL at Sy's picture response!

I just read this post 1 day too late! I didn't know that! I just deeded the land to my group yesterday. Luckily in the past it has never been a problem. For the next land I'll know better.
  20. LittleMe Jewell wrote: LOL - are you related to Qwalyphi Korpov? I just noticed this thread and (jokingly) wondered the same thing. For many of the same reasons others have stated, I much prefer IMs to local chat. It is rare that local offers me anything better than IM although it sometimes happens. Someone I'm with usually needs to throw me an IM to say "pay attention to local" or I'm oblvious to it. I don't understand why people care how other people prefer to chat! I've been with people who have requested the conversation be held in local and so I do. I've had people request IM and so I do. It isn't a big deal. I have been to some sims where it appears to be a social place, a gathering room like a coffee shop or library, and there are groups of people all chattering away in IM and yes, it does seem a bit odd. On the other hand, trying to follow 8 conversations in local in such a setting is next to impossible. I keep IM logs. I rarely use them but when I have needed to I'm glad I do. I keep local chat logs too but mainly because I was too lazy to go in and change my preferences.
  21. Qwalyphi Korpov wrote: Ellyn Elan wrote: ....I don't mind people listening in to my chat when I'm in local. It IS in local, after all. I didn't realize, however, that when I signed in to SL that I was tacitly agreeing to provide entertainment for others by never talking in IM. Yes, SL is full of surprises and we have to roll with the punches and play nice. & don't get me started on what the definition of agreement is. Talk about drama. LOL OK, I understand the first part of your comments, although I am not sure how they pertain to my remarks. SL is full of surprises. We often have to roll with the punches and play nice, or leave, or mute, or on some occasions have a go at some of the idiots at their expense. I don't understand what the drama is about the definition of agreements. My remark, tongue-in-cheek, was that I don't recall agreeing to being your entertainment when I signed into SL. Why should I talk in local just because you like it? Why should I talk in local because it entertains you? I signed up for SL for my entertainment and for many of the reasons stated by others as well as the example I cited as to the utter drivel and spam in most local chat, I much prefer IMs to local. I usually have to be IM'd and told "pay attention to local" to do so. However, if I'm in local I don't care if you or anyone else listens. I may or may not include you in a conversation I'm having if you break into the local chat. If you barge in and are rude about it, chances are you will not be included. If you hang around too close just to listen, it is kind of creepy and again, chances are you would not be included. If you text speak or show yourself to be moronic in a hundred other ways, chances are you would not be included. If you have something of interest to add, my friends and I are generally happy to meet new people and hear new opinions. My world; my imagination; my conversations.

This was a local transcript of a recent event, culled from a similalar selection of thousands in my logs. This encompassed less than 10 minutes of inworld time. Granted, it was at an event so applause is reasonable but you'll note some people are not content with "applause" but must go on for lines and lines. I don't mind people listening in to my chat when I'm in local. It IS in local, after all. I didn't realize, however, that when I signed in to SL that I was tacitly agreeing to provide entertainment for others by never talking in IM.
