  1. You'll have to wait on a response to your support ticket, or call Billing at one of the numbers below. However, I believe that the Visa Electron card is one of those which are not accepted by LL. 2. There are rentals that will cost you about the same as, or less than, Premium and a Linden Home. You just have to be modest about the size parcel and home you will settle for. Remember that Linden Homes are on 512 square meter parcels, and only come with a 117 prim "decorating allowance". Granted, most people want a larger home than that...but there ARE some out there in a similar size and price range.
  3. gosh, I rather hope not. But you can already get emails when your friends IM you (up to the 25 message cap). And you can get a limited SL client for your smart phone...Pocket Metaverse for the iPhone, Mobile Grid Client or Lumiya for Android.
  4. Did you re-log after you'd changed the settings? (Also, be sure you hit OK after changing the settings, not just close the window)
  5. That's a general Windows error message, not something specific to SL. I'd suggest uninstalling and doing a clean reinstall of the viewer. Here's detailed information on how to do that: http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/fs_clean_reinstall EDIT: Charlotte seems to be on to something here. The two fixes that seem to be working for people (according to the JIRA comments) are: Dani Hanly added a comment - 30/Jul/12 2:47 PM Kudos to Alisha Yardly I followed her suggestion and downloaded the free trial of hitman pro http://www.surfright.nl/en/downloads/ reinstalled cool vl viewer and it worked like a charm!! Somehow there seems to be a virus that comes through mesh thank goodness for imprudence getting me through until I found this solution so thank you again Alisha. and... Aiko Gaea added a comment - 19/Jul/12 7:05 PM I've found a solution on my end, though I'm unsure if it will help everyone. First, if you are getting the random audio it is a virus, svchost.exe virus. Kind of a pain to fix but in the end both Firestorm 4.1.1 and SL Viewer V3 worked after clean installs. Here's what I did First, uninstall the viewer completely, including deleting user files c:/Users/"User Name"/AppData/Local/"Viewer Name". Also under /Roaming too. Next You'll need to get "Malwarebytes Anti-Malware" and download that. It's a free trial and is part of getting rid of the virus. Next restart in safe mode with networking (on Windows 7 its holding f8 while startup) You'll need to download and run these two programs prior to using Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1. RKill - http://www.technibble.com/rkill-repair-tool-of-the-week/ 2. TDSS Killer - http://support.kaspersky.com/faq/?qid=208280684&ClickID=dcrhm0zr2zsr2y0zxwbobozysxxxrokbmxsx After running both of the above in safe mode run Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. For some reason it has to be in that specific order. RKill, TDSS Killer and then Malwarebytes. Just to be on the safe side after that I ran CCleaner and AVG. Then restart after you've run these and fresh install of your viewer of choice. This is what woked for me. No more random audio and all viewers log in fine without errors.
  6. You make the rules...or, if you want, you can rule arbitrarily! But as Charlotte says, sometimes a person will see themselves as clothed, but appear nude to others. It's an SL glitch that can lead to a lot of confused argument. So my advice would be to cut people a little slack, until you're sure they're really trying to push the boundaries deliberately.
  7. I'm not at all sure why your submissions are failing, unless you're forgetting to enter some required data in the form. I've never had a report fail to file.
  8. You can set your Home position on any public Linden-owned land, not just the infohubs. You can also set it on any land owned by a group you belong to, if the group allows that. And you can set Home on land you rent or own.
  9. Please IM me in world. There are several trance machines, besides the K&K models. You should check them all out...you might find one you like better.
  10. Once you abandon your Linden Home, you may buy up to 512 square meters anywhere else on the Mainland, and pay no monthly tier on it. If you buy more than that, you will pay tier on the land in excess of the first 512 square meters. There's a table of tier fees under the "Buy Land" link at the top of this page. You don't actually have to abandon your Linden Home. But if you keep it, you don't get the free tier deal. If you lease land on a Private Estate, that deal is between you and the estate owner...it does not affect any tier you pay LL (and in fact, you can get land on a Private Estate without a Premium membership.) I teach a class on Second Life land every Friday, at Caledon Oxbridge University, at 5 pm SL time. It's free to attend.
  11. If diapers are available, they will be sold by the same merchant who sold your baby.
  12. The graphics driver issue applies to Radeon cards, not Nvidia ones. So that isn't it. Could you maybe have transparent texture visibility enabled? Hit CTRL+ALT+T to toggle it.
  13. If you own a Private Estate, you can place your own Infohubs there (ones that show with the "i" symbol on the map.) The Caledon Estate has several.
  14. Ewwww. Try the suggestions on this page: http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/crashes_and_graphics_glitches However, those are mostly for YOUR avatar looking "off". If you see everybody this way, it could be your internet connection, or your graphics card. You can re-set your internet connection by logging off, and turning off your computer and your internet modem and router. Wait a minute, turn everything back on and reboot. Graphics card: Open your computer case. Make sure the graphics card cooling fan is running. Blow out the interior of the case with a can of compressed air. Wiggle the card in its slot, wiggle all power connectors to make sure they are seated. If it's more serious than dust bunnies or loose connections, you may need to replace the graphics card (or possibly the power supply).
  15. As iCade says, you're out of luck. If you place a bid, you will be held to it.
  16. If the delivery said "failed", first check your Transaction History (under your Account menu on the Dashboard page) to see if you were charged for the item. If you were, file a support ticket. But, chances are, you were NOT charged. Just go back to the Marketplace, and purchase the item again.
  17. You can put a landmark (or any other object or a notecard) into a notecard. Just drag the item and drop it in the open notecard. You cannot put a notecard into a landmark. What you CAN do is rename the landmark. You can also change the description of the landmark, in the landmark window.
  18. It's an object (or more than one). This griefing device, when rezzed, sends copies of itself to all your friends, plus it stays where it was rezzed and spams anyone in the region. Anyone who, knowing no better, accepts and rezzes it repeats the process and spreads the nasty thing further. What's more, most, if not all, of the people who are doing this are innocent dupes...and yet their name is listed as the object owner (because, of course, they ARE!) This leaves a lot of innocent people liable to be Muted or Abuse Reported. I saw a blog comment from someone claiming to be the creator of the object, and he said that he was just experimenting and the thing got out of hand. He may be trying to cover his butt, or he may be telling the truth. There's nothing so surprising as a script gone horribly wrong. If you get an offer of this item, no matter who it's from, refuse it. If you have a copy of it in your inventory, delete it.
  19. Z position 128??? I thought all the Linden Homes were at ground level! But anyway...you may be seeing a bug that was supposedly corrected. Try rezzing an item near the center of your home, not out near the walls. It may take several tries to hit the "sweet spot". Once rezzed, right click and Edit the object into its final position.
  20. RIGHT click, RIGHT click! "Right click" means use the right hand mouse button.
  21. Those two computers are not all that different in terms of having good components to run Second Life. But the common factor is, of course, your internet connection. That is probably your limiting factor.
  22. You can get more information than you can shake a stick of RAM at about the performance of all the latest hardware, at http://www.tomshardware.com. Pay special attention to the graphics and CPU hierarchy charts. They're updated quarterly.
  23. What Rolig and Valerie said. Look, Linden dollars have value...they can be exchanged for Real Life money. Nobody is just going to give you money for nothing. You have to buy it. Or, you can earn it. By selling your creations, or selling a service.
