  1. According to the support team from Firestorm, "On Windows 7, if you find yourself being able to talk but not hear what others say, then a possible solution is to use the sound drivers from Vista." For other suggestions, see >> http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/fs_voice
  2. Without any information from you, we can only guess. Here is a pile of generic answers >>> http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/fs_very_laggy . Chances are good that your own lag issue is related to at least one factor in thai list. Tell us more and maybe we can narrow it down a bit.
  3. To do what? There are dozens of answers to your question, so it's impossible to say without knowing what you are trying to do. You can add that important information to your question by clicking on the Options link in its upper right corner and selecting EDIT. Please do NOT start a new thread.
  4. I like Innula's concept. It sounds like a good approach to the project. If you are trying to write the script yourself and get stuck along the way, come back here and post what you have done. There's usually someone willing to help another scripter over the tough spots. If you aren't interested in doing the scripting yourself, though, this isn't the right place to ask. You really ought to post in the Wanted fourm or, if you are hoping to hire a scripter to do a custom job for you, in the InWorld Employment forum.

What I'm asking is if there are scripts I can purchase or can someone link me a tutorial on how to make this. I'm mostly confused about how to make the HUD change the nail textures for the sculpted nails..Do I have to place scripts in all 10 sculpted nails AND the root prim and child prim? So sorry if I'm confusing anyone >_<, This is a perfect example of the HUD I'm talking about, a friend of mine purchased these nails and I think they're gorgeous; *Sexy Mamas* Manicure - Sculpted Prim Nails I'd really like to start making nails so any help is appreciated, thanks! If you're interested in making a HUD, it shouldn't be too hard, in theory. There are three fundamental tasks involved. 1. You need a way to change textures. The llSetLinkPrimitiveParamsFast function has a PRIM_TEXTURE parameter that you'd use change the textures on one or more prims in the same linkset. If you're really doing individual sculped nails, my guess is that you'd need two linksets -- five prims on the left hand and five on the right -- but you'd need only one script in each one. 2. You need a way for the HUD to communicate with the scripts in the nail linksets. There are several possibilities. Perhaps the easiest is to use llRegionSayTo, which lets you send a targeted message directly to a specific object. 3. You need a menu system to let the user select among nail textures. For that, you'll need to use llDialog and do some handling of lists. You may want to take a look at https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/DialogMenus to get a feel for what's involved. If you have done any scripting, this is not a difficult project. If you are still new at it, take it slowly. Make each of the parts separately and test them alone until you get them right. Of course if you are not interested in doing this yourself, you should take Darkie's advice and post your request in the Wanted or Inworld Employment section of the Commerce forum.
  6. Nope. The prim allotment for any parcel is directly proportional to the area of the parcel. A 512 m x 512m parcel has an allotment of 117 prims. If you want more prims, you need more land. Since you can't change the size of the parcel that a Linden Home is on, your only option is to buy or rent a larger parcel somewhere else. You can abandon the Linden Home and apply your 512 sq m free tier toward another purchase on the Mainland. Remember, however, that a Linden Home is peculiar -- it doesn't count against the prim allotment of its parcel. If you buy or rent a larger parcel and put your own house on it, the house's prims will count against the parcel's allotment. The bottom line is that you need to learn to economize. You can do a remarkable amount of decorating with 117 prims if you shop (or build) wisely. When I was new to SL, someone gave me a prim rose in a vase that is made of 78 prims. It's beautiful, but I have rarely chosen to rez it. I have since found a sculpty rose that is just as pretty and uses just 3 prims. Shop around and stay within your prim budget. You can do it.
  7. Nobody here can "check" anything for you. We are all SL residents like you, not Lindens. You will have to check your Transaction History yourself. To get a record of the individual items in your order, open Marketplace and click the My Marketplace menu at the top of the page. Select My Account >> Order History from the pulldown menu. If you do not receive items within about 24 hours, you should cut and paste the information about a missing item from that Order History and send it in a IM or notecard to the merchant, along with a polite message requesting redelivery. Most merchants are very kind and willing to redeliver. This happens all the time and they are aware of it. Do be patient, though. Not everyone logs in to SL every day or checks their e-mail. If you still haven't heard in another day or two, follow it up with a second polite note and finally, if you STILL haven't heard, file a support ticket at https://support.secondlife.com/create-case/ , selecting Marketplace from the pulldown menu.
  8. At the risk of repeating myself yet again (and again and again)..... You are not the only one. Look down the list of questions before yours and you'll see several others for the past two weeks. In fact, it's almost always a good idea to try searching first before you post a question that someone else has probably asked. Some people who have ATI graphics cards are having the pink problem with the most recent V3 upgrade. It affects any of the newer viewers. See http://jira.phoenixviewer.com/browse/FIRE-4945 . For a quick but temporary solution, go to Preferences >> Graphics and disable Basic Shaders. For a more permanent solution update the 12.1 Catalyst driver from http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/radeonmob_win7-64.aspx?type=2.4.2&product=2.4.2.... or run the AMD driver autodetect tool to update: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/auto_detect.aspx. Updating your drivers will probably also clear up the funky black lines. If not, go to Preferences >> Graphics >> Hardware Settings and disable OpenGL VertexBuffer Objects (VBO)
  9. People are also confused about where to post. We get questions here that are very similar to ones that are posted in the technology forum, and a lot get posted in General Discussion too. Some of the "how to" questions that we get should really be in one of the Creation forums, but then the Creation forums have their own problems to deal with. People keep posting "I need to find a script ..." or " Does anyone have a texture....?" there instead of posting in Wanted. I'm not sure that stickies would make any difference, unfortunately, because the people who really need the stickies don't read. (Can't write either, but that's another issue.) I guess what I'd really like is more room to create macros. The nine that I use most often are handy, and I'd use more if I could store them.
  10. You can't get anything without paying for it, unless the item is free. If you paid for something and it wasn't delivered, though, that's different. To get a record of the individual items in your order, open Marketplace and click the My Marketplace menu at the top of the page. Select My Account >> Order History from the pulldown menu. You should cut and paste the information about a missing item from that Order History and send it in a IM or notecard to the merchant, along with a polite message explaining what happened and requesting redelivery.
  11. Follow their advice and file a support ticket at https://support.secondlife.com/create-case/
  12. You need to learn a lot about your house and about groups. Asking questions here helps if you are willing to ask one question at a time and wait for an answer, but it's much faster to read in the Knowledge Base about both topics. You may find answers to questions that you never thought of asking. For Linden Homes, start with http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Linden-Home-FAQ/ta-p/700101 For groups, try http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Groups-overview/ta-p/700081 and http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Group-owned-land/ta-p/700079
  13. It sounds like you have a local connection problem with your Internet. Reboot your router by unplugging it from the power for a few minutes. When you are in world, check your Statistics Bar (CTRL + Shift + 1) to see whether you have excessive packet loss ( > 0.5%) or Ping Time ( > 150 ms). Either of those could generate a data integrity problem, messing up your locally cached copy of inventory, and might account for the 404 error with Live Chat. See http://blog.nalates.net/2011/10/26/troubleshoot-your-sl-connection/ for more detailed suggestions regarding your connection and https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Lost_inventory for suggestions about recovering lost inventory.
  14. They never started. With only a very few exceptions, LL does not accept prepaid credit cards.
  15. With a premium membership you can: Own land on the mainland, including a Linden Home. Get free exclusive virtual goods Have access to premium sandboxes Submit support cases for an expanded set of problems. Initiate live chat sessions with customer support. Get a weekly stipend of Linden dollars. For more information, see Linden dollars (Getting your premium account stipend). For more information, see Premium membership.
  16. And there are plenty of us in SL who have achieved fame and glory without ever using voice too. Voice is highly overrated. Silence is golden.
  17. Start at http://blog.machinimatrix.org/jass/ and read about JASS2, which is what you really need. Notice also that the site also contains a mountain of excellent video tutorials.
  18. You can't log in to SLExchange because it hasn't existed for over a year. You need to log in to Marketplace >>> https://marketplace.secondlife.com/?lang=en-US . If you have actually tried that and it still doesn't work, try using a different browser.
  19. All of the best answers for your question are right here >>> http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/fs_voice
  20. That's a temporary fix. You still need to update your graphics card drivers.
  21. I agree. This is a very confusing message. You can't "rex in" your cat, but you want it back? You bought two homes and were "looking forward to buying land" , but you think that you already have land? Somebody (?) told you that you don't have land? You're going to have to be much clearer about what the problem is if you want any help solving it. Don't start a new thread. Just click the Options link in the upper right corner of this one, select EDIT, and add some clarifying information.
  22. Yup. If you took everything back in one lump and you picked up Linde plants in it, you'll have to rez the coalesced object in a sim where you're allowed to do that. Torley has a sandbox where you can rez Linden plants here: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Here/7/7/69 . Unless he's changed it recently, you ought to be able to rez there.
  23. Yeah, I haven't gone back to limit the memory on the ones I wrote for myself.
  24. The owner of the land you are trying to enter evidently has a script counter and you seem to be wearing more scripted items than he is comfortable with. They are probably in your hair, unless you are wearing a ton of script-heavy jewelry. The number of scripts you are wearing doesn't make a lot of difference, but the amount of time that it takes the sim to process them does. The sim's servers process scripts in their spare time -- quite literally -- so if they run out of spare time, everyone's scripted activity starts to lag. Landowners usually don't understand, or don't have an easy way to measure script time, so they just count scripts instead. They make the somewhat reasonable conclusion that someone wearing lots of scripts is probably also using loads of time and will make life miserable for everyone else. Once you use a script monitoring tool as Angel suggested, start taking off your prim items, one at a time, to figure out where the real culprits are. Then either remove any unnecessary scripts or replace those objects with less heavy ones. There's no strict rule, but you should aim for wearing fewer than 50 scripts and using less than 2 Mb of server memory for them. Those and benchmark numbers that many landowners seem to look at. I rarely have more than 10 or 12 scripts myself, for a total of about 500Kb or memory.
