  1. Did you apply for one? See http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Linden-Homes/ta-p/700103 . If you tried that and you still have trouble, please start your own new thread. Do NOT add your question to the end of someone else's really old one, where most people are likely to miss it .
  2. The Marketplace censor isn't easy to figure out. Without seeing the ad itself, I'm going to guess that it doesn't like the provocative sentence: "Suede high thighs mesh." See if it still objects if you say "Suede mesh thigh-high boots."
  3. Just out of curiosity, has anyone else had trouble getting the list of prim owners on a parcel to update properly? Recently, if I look at About Land >>> Objects to see who has prims on my parcel, or if I use llGetParcel PrimOwners to do the same thing, I find that the list doesn't update. I can add a pile of prims, or have an alt rez stuff, but the list stays the same. I've tried toggling the Refresh button, teleporting out and back in, relogging, waiting 24 hours ..... and the list is the same as it was last weekend. Same avs, same prims per av. Very odd.

  5. You can't. No transfer is No Transfer. If you are landscaping for a client, you either have to buy materials with transfer perms or you have to get the client to buy the materials and rez them on site for you. Then the client has to add you as a friend and give permission to modify their stuff, at least until the job is done.
  6. Syncing animations on two poseballs is rarely a clean operation because lag will affect each person's experience differently. Still, you can get close. You need to write two scripts (one in each poseball). When one of them is activated, it has to wait for the second one before it activates its own animation. When someone sits on the second poseball, that script takes note of the precise time (call it X) and sends that information to the first poseball's script. The first script receives that timing message and then both scripts trigger their animations at precisely X plus 1.000 seconds. Because lag will generate accumulative errors, scripts are typically written to re-sync every couple of minutes with the same procedure. It's mildly tricky to script -- not a newbie exercise - but it's been done many times. You can easily buy pairs dance poseballs that follow this scheme. As for moving your avs forward or backward, ....... Your animations can be making the av do all sorts of twists and turns, leaps in the air, somersaults, and whatever but as far as SL's servers are concerned, your av is standing dead. The animation is all peformed locally by your viewer. To actually move the av, you either need to use your keyboard arrow keys or a cheater movement control panel on screen, or you have to do it with a LSL script.
  7. There is no "login URL" for Second Life. This is not a web-based virtual world.
  8. Yes. Many people do it every day. To quote our resident Win 8 expert, KarenMichelle Lane..... All Windows 8 Users 1) Manually apply ALL the Required and Important patches for Windows 8 from Microsoft. A new Win 8 PC needs 4-5 iterations of this to get them all. The easiest way to do this is to: a) Enter Desktop Mode b) Launch Internet Explorer c) Right-click on the options area of the Browser and turn on Menu & Status Bar [and any other of the old standards you like] d) Tools / Windows Update. e) Select the CUSTOM button so you can monitor and select the downloaded options to install e) Repeat until all are DL'd and installed Note: Don't install the Bing Desktop. Also, don;t install any Windows Live components unless you have an email account with Microsoft. 2) Identify the Video / Graphics system in your PC and get the Windows 8 drivers direct from the Video System manufacturer. http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect/graphics 3) If you just performed the items 1) & 2) above, please reinstall SL again using the official version from Linden Lab. [be sure to do a clean install http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/How-to-uninstall-and-reinstall-Second-Life... Here is the Windows 8 Manual System File cleanup procedure since it's not in the procedure above. Windows 8 1.Using File Explorer -> Libraries / Computer / ( C: ) / Users / 2.Press the Continue button to get permission to obtain permanent permission edit this directory. 3.From the View drop-down menu option select Options & Change Folder & Search Options 4.Select the View Tab 5.Under the Hidden Files and Folders options click on the - O Show hidden files, folders & Drives radio button 6.Push the Apply Button then the OK button. 7.Open C:\Users\\AppData\Local and delete the contents of your Temp folder and the SecondLife folder. 8.Uninstall Second Life using the Programs and Features tool in the Windows Control Panel. 9.Download and install the latest release of the Second Life Viewer from http://secondlife.com/support/downloads/. You should be up and running in no time. P.S. I recommend these steps on all Windows 8 PC's and Laptops, specifically designed for Windows 8 with high-end Graphics Sub-Systems or Graphics Cards. P.S.S. - On Upgraded PC's & Laptops - If your computer was not designed specifically for Windows 7 or Windows 8 these steps may still help. There are many "Designed for Vista" PC's that don't upgrade well to Windows 8. If your PC was designed for Windows XP, Windows 8 is usually NOT a viable option, practically speaking.
  9. Someone must be. That's a mid-range integrated graphics chip designed for noteboooks. My guess is that you will be able to get medium quality graphics in SL out of it. You may want to ask in the General Discussion forum.
  10. Did you request a Linden Home? You are entitled to one as a Premium member, but you have to ask for it. Será que você solicitar uma residência Linden? Você tem direito a um como membro premium, mas você tem que perguntar para ele. http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Base-de-conhecimento/Resid%C3%AAncias-Linden/ta-p/700441
  11. Good luck. You can submit a support ticket to Linden Lab to explain the situation and hope to get the IP block lifted. I suspect that they will force you to jump through a lot of hoops and supply a ton of documentary proof that you are who you say you are, if they listen at all. After all, you could just as easily be your little sister, lying to get back in world.
  12. Last winter, when most merchants migrated over to Direct Delivery, the advice was the following: Q: I am getting told that I need to Create a Store, but I already am a Merchant. How do I get the Merchant Outbox to work? A: Use our Merchant Outbox Project Viewer to repair your Merchant Outbox. Here are the steps to follow with this project viewer: Download and log in to the project viewer. Select Me->Merchant Outbox. After the outbox has initialized, add a test item to the Merchant Outbox by dragging it to the Outbox. Click Send to Marketplace. If you you see the items removed from the Merchant Outbox and added to your unassociated inventory on the marketplace, your Merchant Outbox has been fixed. You may now go back to using your viewer of choice (as long as it supports the Merchant Outbox.) If you get a success message, but your items have stayed in your Merchant Outbox, do the following:Move the item from your Merchant Outbox to your main inventory. Find your Trash folder in your inventory, and right click to Empty Trash Move your test item back to the Merchant Outbox and click Send to Marketplace again. Your items should be removed from your Merchant Outbox and appear in Unassociated Inventory Items on the Marketplace. You may now go back to using your viewer of choice (as long as it supports the Merchant Outbox.) If none of the above work, please submit a support case. HOWEVER, you will discover that the Merchant Outbox Project Viewer is no longer available, so the only option you have available, I think, is #6.5 above....... Submit a support ticket >>> Marketplace Issues.
  13. They're both pretty straightforward tools for land management. Essentially, they allow you to write a script that lets a landowner automate the Return to Owner functions that are in About Land and the Region/Estate tools in the viewer. Landowners can return objects that do not belong on their land either by saying "return all items owned by this specific person" or by saying "return the specific item with this UUID." With these two LSL functions, a landowner can write a script to perform those functions for him/her. We have several other LSL land management functions (for banning or ejecting avatars, controlling media streams, etc.). These just add two more.
  14. Contact Live Chat. They should be open for business very shortly. You paid for that service with your Premium membership, and that's the sort of thing they are good at fixing.
  15. So long as you have the UV map for whatever you are texturing, it's the same whether you are using GIMP or Photoshop, or whatever. If you don't, then you'll have to apply a temporary grid texture to your mesh object and then use that as a guide while you're creating the texture in GIMP. As a dirt-level intro to creating textures with a UV map, try Natalia Zelmanov's tutorial >>> http://www.mermaiddiaries.com/2007/03/day-181-creating-clothes-with-gimp.html . It's obvously intended for people who are making clothes, but it doesn't make any difference what you are making. UV maps all work the same way. They describe 2D "puzzle pieces" that wrap onto your model to describe its 3D surface.
  16. All you can do is call the Linden Lab billing office and ask. You can't be the first person who has done that, unlikely as it seems. If you have a non-technical issue related to billing concerns, you can call the Linden Lab billing team at the following toll-free numbers: US/Canada: 800-294-1067 France: 0805-101-490 Germany: 0800-664-5510 Japan: 0066-33-132-830 Portugal: 800-814-450 Spain: 800-300-560 UK: 0800-048-4646 Brazil: 0800-762-1132 Long distance ( not free, but you can use Skype to save some cost ) : 703-286-6277 **Note: Support is offered only in English
  17. Did you set your preference in Search as well as in Preferences? You have to do both. The G, M, A check boxes are in the upper left corner of the window in Search.
  18. It sounds like a technicality, but ALL textures in SL are in JPEG2000 format, regardless of what they may have been on your computer before you uploaded them. The difference you are thinking about is that a JPG image cannot have the extra 8-bit channel that we use for transparency. Of the uploadable choices we have to work with, only PNG and TGA do. So, if you want transparency you have to start with a 32-bit TGA or PNG file and upload it. If you don't want transparency, save 25% of the file size and upload the texture as a 24-bit image. When SL receives it, the image is converted to JPEG2000 and retains your transparency information. It doesn't make any difference what you apply the texture to ... mesh, sculpty, or native SL prim. They're all mesh objects anyway. It sounds like you are seeing an alpha sorting issue. You;re overlaying two 32-bit textures on adjacent clothing items. The only way to beat that is to use a 24-bit texture on the one that's underneath.
  19. You might have happier customers if you wore a sign (or a floating tag) that said "I know a great club for newbies. Ask me." Even first-day newbies learn quickly not to trust strangers who give them stuff.
  20. You're in luck. I spotted your private message in this ancient thread just now. Welcome to SL. There's much more to an "excellent" Internet connection than bandwidth. It may be just fine for web browsing and some on-line games, but it needs to be very stable and responsive to handle SL. If you have been using wireless, get off it. Check to be sure that your computer meets Linden Lab's recommended system requirements (see https://secondlife.com/support/system-requirements/ ). If you have tried to download more than one time, be sure that you are removing all traces of the last try before you do it again. Here's how >>> http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/tkb-p/English_KB%40tkb . Finally, check to be sure that you do not have a firewall blocking entry to SL. If you still have trouble, please start a NEW thread instead of attaching your question to the end of someone else very old, archived question.
  21. If you have an account with either Google Translate or Bing's translator, you can enter your account number in Preferences >>> Chat >>> Text Input: Choose translation service: You may select one of two online providers to handle the translation: Bing: You need to supply an API key, which you can obtain from Bing (click the underlined link to go to the web page). Once you have done that, click Verify to have the key checked. After that, translation should be available. Google: You need to supply an API key, which you can obtain from Google (click the underlined link to go to the web page; you may also obtain pricing information). Once you have done that, click Verify to have the key checked. After that, translation should be available. These two are perhaps the most versatile and reliable services. The Gooigle translation service charges a fee. Bing does not, but you do need to open a free account with them. Otherwise, you can buy a translator in Marketplace. Use the keyword "translator" in Marketplace Search.
  22. Be very careful about what you click. It is impossible for anyone to take L$ from you without your permission, but it is very easy for someone to trick you into giving permission. When you click an object that expects you to pay it, it will always display a message that asks permission to debit your account. If you aren't paying attention and just click without thinking, you can be allowing it to transfer every penny in your account. The bottom line is: NEVER give permission to debit your account unless you know who you are giving permission to and understand why. Also, beware of phishing scams in SL and occasionally ones that spoof SL web sites (including these forums). Some sites are designed to steal your login information. With that, they can have direct access to your SL account, and possibly your RL accounts. Read this information very carefully. Also http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Scams
  23. All SL viewers handle Voice the same way. Viewers play a minor part in voice functionality. The bulk of voice support is given by the external application called SLVoice, which is made by the SL voice provider, Vivox. Voice failures are almost always due to one of the following reasons: Your ISP is throttling or blocking the voice service; failure of the Vivox service; voice issues on the region you are on; voice being throttled by bandwidth set incorrectly - please check it by following the instructions here; voice hardware (mic, headset) not configured correctly in your operating system settings; voice hardware not configured correctly in the viewer; another application has your voice hardware in use (example, Skype); your anti virus software has “mangled” the voice application; see here. Please go to Voice Echo Canyon when trying to get voice to work. If voice is working correctly for you, anything you say there will be echoed back to you. For more specific suggestions about dealing with Voice issues, see http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/fs_voice
  24. That's right. It's not a perfect solution, but if I understand correct;y, it does solve the immediate problem. Clearly someone is going to have to fix the underlying bug. I'm not really convinced that it's relevant to this OP's problem, of course. It's just the only thing I could find that even sounded like it might be relevant.
