  1. Make sure that you're right-clicking on the item you want to wear, and choosing "add" instead of "wear". If you choose "wear", it replaces whatever you already have on that location. If you "wear" eyebrows, which applies to the face, it will remove anything else you're wearing on your face. If you choose "add", then it does exactly that. Adds that layer on top of whatever layer you already have. If you need to change the order of a layer, then use the method above from @elleevelyn
  2. When you hire a singer, of course their fans will follow them. I assume that's what you're hoping will happen. Are you making it clear that you would like people to hang around after? It sounds like this approach to finding your own group of friends isn't really working, and it likely wouldn't. Those people already have something in common, they are fans of that particular singer. It sounds like you may just be finding and hiring singers without, yourself, being a big fan. If you were, you would probably also be in one of these "cliques", as you call them. Fanbases, is what I call them. Soooo, it seems, from this, that the best way to find a group of your own, is to find people with whom YOU have something in common, rather than just expecting a group of fans of a singer to know you're looking for friends. There are a lot of groups in SL, so maybe search out groups which fit your interests. Or, maybe, if you like hiring singers, try attending several of his or her performances, first. If you do that often, you'll be seen as part of their fanbase, too, and the group will naturally start including you. Especially if you're a cool person, and make good conversation. Light jokes and banter aren't just 'inside' things. It's part of social interactions and conversations. It's how people bond. I think maybe you would have more success in what you seem to be looking for if you stop expecting everyone to come to you, just because you're shelling out lindens for a singer on your parcel, and start going to them some of the time.
  3. I'm glad you don't. However, when I weighed my marriage, at the time, and family against...well, let's be real...a game/creative/social platform, the household won out. And, for the record, this isn't even close to why we split up. It was actually rather trivial in the grand scheme of my life...both then and now.
  4. I deleted an account in late 2008. I was able to have it reactivated last year. No inventory, of course, but it was still nice to see that account again. The profile was still intact. Why would anyone delete an account? Wellllll...there ARE reasons. In my case, because my (now ex) husband, who also had an avatar, got jealous because I was making friends, and issued an ultimatum requiring that I delete that account. He didn't give me the option to "just leave it be and walk away".
  5. Is this for real? This has to be one of the most entitled things I've read on an SL forum. Ever.
  6. I change all of the time. I have a few favorite skin-makers, but even that changes from time to time. I'm so fickle when it comes to face skins. I don't change bodies, and I don't change heads, but head skins and tones get changed whenever I see a new one I like and buy it or just because. The underlying shape is always close, just tweaked to fit a particular skin a bit better (maybe a slightly less wide mouth or something). My favorites right now are DeeTaleZ, Amara Beauty and Mila. In the past I've favored The Skinnery, Not Found and Glam Affair. I still mainly stick with those 6.
  7. I've been having the same issue. With eyes more than anything else. I used to use solely appliers, but switched to BOM recently, and they often don't update when I change them. I normally just add or take off another BOM layer and that seems to kick it.
  8. Have you actually tried any EEP's made FOR PBR? There are some very low priced and free ones on the MP. Just try searching "PBR Windlight". You can't use the same Windlight settings and expect everything to look the same as it did. PBR renders lighting very differently, so you need different lighting. And if your homes or furniture do not look at all good, try adding some reflection probes. There are some video tutorials on how to add them to homes and areas to render the lighting correctly. It makes a big difference. I think everything looks much better with PBR, but I also don't use the same lighting and environment settings I used before I downloaded the updated Firestorm.
  9. Second Life is very different from The Sims. I'm not very familiar with the free Legacy body, so hopefully someone else comes along who can help. You might want to search YouTube for tutorials on Second Life and setting up an avatar.
  10. I don't think I EVER have. I'm almost positive I walk though a small gap beside a window every time I go there. It can't be a door...
  11. If you don't have BOM activated for the eyes, you'll need to wear the Lelutka eyes and one of the included alphas, based on whether or not your head and body are BOM or you use applier skins. If you don't want to wear the alpha, you'll need to activate BOM on the eye tab in the Lelutka tab. At least, to me, that's what it appears is happening, but someone else may have a better answer.
  12. I would check Fashionably Dead, although they might be shorter than you want, also. Spectacled Chic might have something, as might Coco. Sorumin has one which might be about mid-thigh, or close, if my memory serves.
  13. My question: Why do they stand right at the TP landing point so other avatars aren't landing on their heads? I usually take a couple of steps away from it as soon as I land. It's pretty much a habit. As for foot height...I change mine to suit what shoe I'm wearing. I wear low or flat shoes as often as high heels. And for photos, I'm very picky. Very careful to use a foot height which makes sense with the photo if I'm not wearing shoes.
  14. My SL partner of 11 years and I talk most of the time we're on SL together. But we use Skype or something instead of SL voice. I'll admit...the first time we talked about, well, actually talking I was nervous about hearing him, about him hearing me. What if one of us DIDN'T like the other's voice. Would that change things in SL, spoil the immersion, etc. Luckily, he has a great voice, calls mine 'warm and soothing' and I now can't imagine having to constantly type in text when we're shopping or exploring or just hanging out. I do think that hearing a voice of an avatar, and not enjoying it for some reason, could probably change things for almost anyone. Humans are highly visual. And hearing a voice will often form a picture in your mind of what that person may look like or even how they might present themselves. I've done that before with radio personalities. I listen to the Elvis Duran morning show on my way to work. I've looked at their website...only a couple of them actually resemble how I imagine them. I can't fault the OP at all if what he pictures wasn't jibing with what he finds attractive. It's not something you can really help. (My SL partner and I have exchanged photos, he's seen my RL Facebook, etc, so at this point, he's who I picture when we talk. Weird thing is...his voice also fits his male avatar pretty well)
  15. I 2nd Ikon. Also Avi-Glam. Those 2 are my favorites when it comes to realistic eyes. A couple of others to check are Euphoric, Sequoia and Shimm.
  16. Phew! That's good. Because it would have quickly become obnoxious.
  17. I would imagine we'll be seeing this more and more. Times do change. Are you going to post about each one losing your business?
  18. If you're wearing a body skin and head skin of the same tone, or even similar with a neck blender (if the head skin doesn't blend in already), then if you're seeing a 'seam', it's likely you have materials on in one (either the head or body hud) and not the other. Check things like 'environment', etc, in the head hud. Try setting everything (sliders or buttons in the material section of the huds) to nothing in both and see if that's the problem.
  19. The "pain of whitelisting"? I have Avast and it took me all of 3 minutes. Other than what I've picked up just from being a PC user for the last 30 years, I know nothing about technology. It was the first time I ever whitelisted anything with my anti-virus. 3 minutes. Such "pain". I'm not one crowing for everyone to update NOW!, but we're all grownups. People need to read a little and learn to do a few basic things. I mean, even just to use a computer you should be willing to learn a few things. If 3 minutes of following well-written directions on FS's website is "pain", then people are going to be going through a lot of self-imposed suffering from here on out. People should also be well aware of PBR's introduction. It hasn't been a secret on SL's website. They need to take some responsibility and actually pay attention to the information on the website for the platform they're using.
  20. I've had that happening, and have been doing a quick avatar rebake after I land. That fixes it instantly. I'm going to reenable teleport screens again, too. Thanks!
  21. Might find something like that at Gabriel.
  22. I like it so far. I don't use it too much, but then, I'm not very "social". So far, though, from what I've seen, it's nice. Like @Rowan Amore, said, though...I'd like to be able to have a little more control over having to scroll past a lot of Ads before I see original Avatar content/posts. Otherwise, it appears to be taking off nicely and I'm sure, over time, other features will be added.
  23. You don't have to pay a thing if you don't want to and posting within the TOS which I both read and agree'd to, as should have everyone, isn't difficult. I don't know Luke, only signed up on PrimFeed yesterday and as of now, don't plan on paying for it, at least not in the very near future. I still plan to use Flickr for the bulk of my photo uploads as I'm a Pro member there. Having said that, PrimFeed seems okay so far, as far as social media goes. But I don't personally want an untamed jungle. I prefer some moderation on sites, or we'll be stuck with a "formerly known as Twitter but now a cesspool" clone.
