  1. I'm pretty much the same way. And I've run into the same thing continually. The only "extras" I have are the fitted mesh Lolas, and only because I can make them smaller. To me they just have a better shape than the slider breasts. And I also refuse to switch to a mesh body. I don't think they look as good and it's bad enough having to shop for clothing based on the Lolas, much less the body itself. The bottom line is it's your SL, be what you want and make the way you look so that it pleases you. If the guys you date can't accept that, you may be dating the wrong guys anyway.
  2. No more annoying than said 50 year old white dude tryin ta be all ghetto yo. word
  3. I was in another platform for over 2 years and was getting bored. Then someone told me about SL. I chaecked it out and then, finding it new and more interesting, got all my friends form the old platform to move over. Of the 20 odd people that came over to SL with me, 16 are still here and still friends I hang out with regularly. So, were SL to shut down I would find something else and pass the word to the friends I have. Hopefully most of them would migrate with me again and we would go on as if nothing happened. I have been to InWorldz and have 2 sims I have already set up. So that would be a good candidate.
  4. "/me points to his explanatory post just above this one which exemplifies and vindicates his observation so well that you might erroneously think Rhys might be a sock puppet . . . . . and realises that he should have also mentioned something about most forumites' inability to construct their own sentences, albeit brief ones, without their including at least one egregious grammatical, spelling, or orthographic error. /me recommends that such people should stick to Twitter, where their limited cognitive capabilities won't be stretched . . . too much." So, because you don't like the way some people reply in the forums, make spelling errors, find your longwinded, rambling post boring, etc you want to get rid of them. Who are you really, the Representative to SL from ISIS?
  5. Since a lot of the coverage on the landing was pushed to the side for coverage of pictures and stories about Kim Kardashian's bum it seems to me they might have been better served landing a probe on her assteroid The benefits would have been: It's almost as big as the one in space. It's easier to find and reach. It would have saved years and billions to accomplish. No one knows what would likely be found there either. It is more hospitable for future manned probes and exploration. ESA could have probably financed it with a spin off reality show, and no one watching it would have been offended about the scientist's choice of shirt. And as an engineer, I'd like to know how the damn thing seems to defy the laws of physics.
  6. Look up the word "Sardonic" Nova. Maybe you'll learn something. Though I doubt THAT.
  7. Rant begins here: So, you've lived somewhere for years, invested time and money in your home. You spent money within the community to support the merchants and contribute to the local economy. Participated in events to support the community. Then one day word comes down that there are plans to raze your home to the ground, burn all the clothes you have bought from local merchants, destroy your planes, boats, cars, motorcycles and all the things you have invested thousands of dollars in. All for some glorious new idea. But they would like you to stay, start over, invest thousands more to rebuild everything you already had. All for "the common good". What would your response be? What would you do? So I wake up this morning to this. According to a recent post on the Phoenix Project blog, this is exactly what LL's latest "Great Innovator" has in mind for us all. Rise up and revolt SL Residents, because it's pretty revolting. http://www.firestormviewer.org Now I won't attempt to delve into this post bit by bit, please read it and decide for yourselves. Jessica Lyon tries to be a real Rah Rah cheerleader, though from her " I will do my best to keep my opinions out of this post while promising I will voice it sometime soon..." preamble. it make me question if her heart is really in it. For me it comes down to one main point. "Possible" Loss of inventory. I have been in SL for a little over five years. Doing business with SL and it's creators, spending by my count nearly $9,000 for clothes, toys and tier. Now suddenly SL decides to say screw you, it means nothing to us. We are going to make a new platform. And all the things you have acquired, that's all gone. If you want to stay you will have to start over from scratch. As it is now LL, you want to make changes, add things that no one really wants, but that some techno geek thinks would be cool. So you disrupt things for months at a time, and screw the users. The mesh and pathfinder roll outs come immediately to mind. (Mesh roll out, and mesh can;t cross sim borders? It took months to fix that. And I have noticed most regions have Pathfinder disabled. If it's so great, how come? And how about the new fitted mesh. On-Line users have a different experience with that, it totally screws up their screen. Remember "Join On-Line", LL's last brain storm?) After 5+ years here is what I have learned. The SL viewer keeps getting worse and the TPV's generally give most users what they want. That's why they are vastly more popular than the official viewer. They listen, you shove your "Improvements" down our throats. Instead of giving us a stable, secure platform that works, you want to add B.S. gadgets and gimmicks, thought up by some REMF nerd that's probably never been in-world. I can't see into the future. I speak for no one but myself. But if you deem it necessary to wipe out everything I have worked to build for myself here over the last five years, force me to start over, it won't be SL where I begin again. So for me the bottom line is, if my inventory is gone, so am I. (And I'd suspect so are MANY others.) And, just like when I first came here from a different on line world, I will convince my friends and family to move too. I know you don't really care, and that's the problem. You want to make a new world and to hell with all the user's who have been here supporting you for years. Not that you've EVER seemed to care........... P.S. - Did it ever occur to you folks at LL that the best way to get new users is to keep the users you have happy? P.P.S. - Other On-line world operators (I know you have people monitoring blogs and spying in SL), this might be your big chance to pick up a lot of new customers. Rant complete - massive Caffeine ingestion beginning.
  8. Communism, and vis-a-vis socialism, is the refuge of idiots, losers and the lazy. It's never worked anywhere it's been attempted without the use of force, and never will.
  9. WOW, I'm glad this seems to have finally petered out. I was so worried someone would expose the fact that ONI is spying on the sailing community. Now I can send a report to the Director that our secret is still safe, and still make my tee time at the Fort Meade Golf Course.
  10. Also because different viewers have nit just the standard features, but some little extras that help in doing different things. And since SL started revamping after V1, they've add junk that really is useless that not everyone likes or wants. TPV have always tended to give better performance and can be much more stable. In short, the post V1 SL Official viewer sucks. .
  11. You are welcome to your own opinion. But as with my RL, my SL is defined by me. What some else's definitions are, of either, are immaterial to me. Define it any way you want for yourself. But as with RL, trying to force people to see things according to the way you see them is a very egotistical approach. It shows not only your self centered attitudes and opinions, it shows your ignorance and smacks of fascism. Sieg Heil SL Nazi, have a nice day.
  12. Even though the US Spook Services are dual about this "Darknet", schizophrenically perceiving it as a brave online freedom initiative which facilitates uprisings in previously non-USA friendly nations, while also expressing deep paranoia regarding its ability to support what it considers illegal information trafficking relating to crime, terrorism and official government data embarrassing to the current and recent administrations. At this moment I think they are watching the internet more for an uprising inside the US than outside.
  13. So another end of SL post. You come here just to vent or to actually ask for help? My guess is the former since you've not replied to any of the people who've been kind enough to reply to your OP. I've been a resident for a little over 5 years now. In that time I've run SL on various desk tops and lap tops of different ages and capabilities. Most of the time on TPVs. Some have worked better than others on different computers, but with a little patience and trial and error I've always been able to find one that suits the computer I was using at the time. Instead of whining, take the initiative to ask around and try some of the other platforms. FS and Singularity both have very helpful support groups.
  14. It's just one omore example of the dumbing down of students.
  15. Switch to a TPV. I've been is SL 5 years now and haven't used one of their viewer beyond my first week. I don't feel like I've missed a thing since most TPVs seem to listen to what the users would like more than SL ever has.
  16. Read the article and watched the video. You can have my share of CHUI. Watch as more people using the SL Viewer switch to TPVs. Instead of new Geekness, how about fixing border crossings? You know, something actually useful.
  17. An Irish priest and a Rabbi get into a car accident. They both get out of their cars and stumble over to the side of the road. The Rabbi says, "Oy vey! What a wreck!" The priest asks him, "Are you all right, Rabbi?" The Rabbi responds, "Just a little shaken." The priest pulls a flask of whiskey from his coat and says, "Here, drink some of this it will calm your nerves." The Rabbi takes the flask and drinks it down and says, "Well, what are we going to tell the police?" "Well," the priest says, "I don't know what your aft' to be tellin' them. But I'll be tellin' them I wasn't the one drinkin'."
  18. As far as I can tell, there is no AR category that applies to STUPID.
  19. When you assign someone in a group to the owner role you get a pop-up that clearly states: You are about to add group members to the role of Owners. Members cannot be removed from that role. The members must resign from the role themselves. Are you sure you want to continue? You as the owner of the group must clearly acknowledge this to complete the assignment to that role. What was it you didn't understand?
  20. God Bless All Here! Happy St Patrick's Day! Now since me Irish ancestor always seemed tohave found themselves on the side of the rebel cause: Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to Cohan's Pub to meet me friends to talk a little treason.
  21. People talking about money doesn't bother me. As long as there's enough time to get them to the Justice of the Peace anf have the will changed and filed before I pus.... they accidentally fall down the stairs and break their rich neck. :matte-motes-little-laugh:
  22. Why not just make everyone submit, by certified mail, a sworn and notarized affidavit that they've read the TOS? Then, a griefer couldn't create an account and get on line 2 hours later. It would take a couple weeks, and if they violated the TOS you could have them prosecuted for perjury and sent to prison. Makes about as much sense.
  23. Yes, it's a pain in the neck, pardon the pun, to have to wear the necklace to opt out. And the Bloodlines ghouls hang out at info centers and hubs, along with the freebie places just so they can prey on unsuspecting new residents. It's unfortunate, but it has been that way forever. Just tell your friends to file an AR for griefing and send a notecard to the head of whichever Bloodlines clan the offender belongs to. That should solve the problem.
