The chat box will flash when any message from any object on your land or from the veiwer or frome the server. It will also flash when your friends on log on and off the private function only keep people from seeing you if they are not on your parcel If they fly above it they can see you i believe but i could be wrong. it wil not prevent text from objects on other people parcells they would have make their parcel sounds and texts heard only on the their parcels.

yes there are because their is no skill involved. I know you must be thinking that you see them everywhere. LL does not actively look for them. But they will get involved and remove them if they are sent a complaint.

Don't know if this will help you but could windows defender becausing your problem? Are you on a router? If you are could that be preventing you getting through. Are you using wireless? Could that be where the problem lies.
