  1. Some of us in the thread have feelings that are uncomfortable should LL get involved with things that could be viewed very Adult and/or controversial. I don't have any else to say other than...I am entitled to own feelings as are you. The "icks" in SL create feelings in some. If LL were to do those things, the same feelings would probably occur. But, it wouldn't be our peers doing it, it would be the "General and his Army" sort of thing are doing it. However, I still have said on the other hand LL has a right to do with their business whatever they want. Each would have to decide what is too much "ick". I live with the ick here now by doing my own thing and ignoring it.
  2. SL is almost all role play, believe it or not. So, is this Casino. This Casino could be described as role play Casino since one cannot win. If there are other icks in SL, that is all mostly role play, too. Many of the icks in SL have nothing to do with a person's real life.
  3. Excuse me for the second time? Ick is all about "feelings". I was explaining my particular situation when meeting with Lindens.
  4. Excuse me? Sniff or paddo's, I have no idea what those are AND...wait for it...big, big ANNNNNNNNND don't need to know. Dinkies and Tinies of the Shire often are role play but not all role play. We are small animals that have the wonderment of a child of about 3 or 4 years old. We see the world as everything "new" like a child, and are dependents as we are small animals. So, in that environment, when the Linden's visit the Shire for the jousting tournament, because that is our character of about a 3 to 4 year old tiny animal with human feelings, the Linden's are like our parent or friend. I would appreciate to have my own feelings and not have to make a discussion out of it. Good grief.
  5. This is true to some extent with a few exceptions in my own opinion. IMO, the one's who do not care about each other are the one's LL is seeking. Your post above says LL have been on a decades quest for "better" clientele. I'm not sure what that means either. But, I think LL are looking for quantity over quality with mobile because the screen is so small I (right now) can't see it appealing to many more than those who are looking for a quick cybersex experience without caring involved; an emotionless experience. I'd guess no different than those who are looking for a video chat on FB or Tik Tok. There is no reason for a video chat unless someone wants cybersex, imo. My friends have been hit up for that. It's real cringey to all of us, that video chat thing on FB or Tik Tok. But, even this "social casino" could support my theory about mobile. Quick and emotionless sex "hook-ups" at a Casino because that's what a lot of people want. (Although I still have belief this Casino thing is more than meets the eye.)
  6. What does "culturally homeless" mean? If it has anything to do with art or music, it wouldn't be correct as there are many, many fantastic artists here of all kinds. It's part of the reason why I am here - it's creative and the art is excellent all around, suburb even. So, I don't know what culturally homeless means? Is that a real term? I didn't look it up.
  7. I was going to say something about this for the Dinkies and Tinies of the Shire. The Linden's joust with the Tinies of the Shire once a year or thereabouts. So, for the Dinkies and Tinies, the Linden's are like parents. They have a warm presence around them like parents. I dunno how to explain it perfectly because it's trying to explain a feeling. But, they are parents and friends of the Shire and getting involved in ick could change their image. Linden's becoming involved in Brothels? Wouldn't that make them pimps? That's not their image and it's not them. The Linden's are parental figures, I think, and they play games with us sometimes and arrange charities. Maybe Scylla or someone has insight as to why the grown humans might feel uncomfortable if the Linden's got involved in controversial businesses in SL. (Not that they didn't already do that but I'm not so sure this Casino is what it seems - and where is the Casino advertised? I haven't seen that.) But, I'd rather the Linden's remain friends and parental figures to remind us of charity, etc, plus things that bring us all together. But on the other hand, I also agree with Sid, it is their business first and foremost.
  8. Yeah this ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ 100% I've learned to cope as best I can with "the ick" that exists is SL, not built by SL nor LL. I deal with the ick here because there is ick in real life too, and we cannot control it all. So, I still want to enjoy what isn't ick in SL. As far as this Casino, I mentioned that with the loot boxes for children anyhow it was how the loot boxes would make all these sounds and particles would go off, and articles have cited it was like a slot machine going off. The dopamine rush for the kids came with the sounds and particles going off like it was their birthday or something. It made them happy. But, there was most times nothing in the loot box that was useable for their character nor anything that could help them advance in the game. But, even adults in the Casino want to hear all those bells and whistles go off when they win. And, then they want to jump up and down and say "I won! I won!" while the slot machine is going crazy with all kinds of sounds. That's the goal basically and for money to come out. Half of me, though, still feels Qie might have hit the nail on the head - that this is some kind of way to burn the extra lindens. I'm still waiting to see if that reveals itself. Something is very strange here... no grand opening, no advertising on the front page of the website. Something is just not adding up here.
  9. There is no relation between the two. Just the pro and anti gacha crowd wanting to bring up gacha again. Social Casinos claim it is not gambling since there are no payouts for the coins/chips/tokens you buy with real money. Gacha was a fair comparison because (some) in the SL community saw Gacha as gambling since one could not see the prize they were getting plus it was considered addictive. Others, considered it much like loot boxes, except the loot box problem, as written up in several news articles, was it was all unseen junk which couldn't even be used by the avatar one was in the game nor did the items help the player advance in the game as per the gimmick of loot boxes. Many articles cited also kids were addicted to the sound and light spectacle loot boxes would make when they purchased one (or parents would actually purchase). The sounds of the loot boxes were cited as being like the sounds a slot machine would make. So, here we go 'round the maypole again'. According to the official blog released by LL, Gachas became against their gaming policy but there is no actual USA nor otherwise law stated as to why Gachas were banned. The blog talks mostly about it's against policy now to have "unseen" or "unknown" items for sale. Everyone must know what they are buying. With fishing the blog stated one knows they are buying bait. With this casino one knows they are buying tokens. With Gacha, the prize was unknown. So, I posted all that so we could all see what was the actual problem with Gacha. It wasn't really gambling although it was considered addictive. LL made the decision here, but no actual "law" against Gachas exists: ______________________________________________________________________________________ LL: "We did not make this decision lightly and we understand that it will impact creators as well as event organizers and certainly the shoppers! We look forward to fun creative ways of engagement that will come instead. We realize that this announcement may leave the community with questions." https://community.secondlife.com/blogs/entry/8586-policy-change-regarding-gacha/
  10. The main point in the article is that a product for sale or maybe even FREE cannot have an unknown product in it. I think what the article is saying about not calling it Gacha, is if you come up with another game - don't call it Gacha. And, btw, the convenyor belt thingy below sounds fun! Here I will copy/paste in plain text, from the SL article; and, in plain text, the link: Additional FAQ’s for August 5, 2021: Q: Should any newly developed sales mechanism or newly created items be called “gacha” going forward? A: No, as we would like to eliminate any confusion with the usage of the term going forward. Q: Is a game that requires skill to win the prize you want permitted going forward? For example, you throw a dart and you must hit a certain number to get the prize corresponding to that number. A: This would need to go through the Skilled Game review process and be presented in a Skilled Gaming region, if approved. Q: I am selling an item that is known, paid for and delivered to a purchaser, and for each purchaser they are entered into a prize drawing where randomly selected people who bought the item may receive a rare item as a result of the drawing, is this permitted? A: You must also provide a free, concise and easy way for anyone to enter into the random drawing with an equal chance to win. Q: Can I sell an item, and also then include an unknown random item attached as a bonus? For example, Like a buy one, get one free (BOGO), but the free item is the random/unknown item. A: No Q: Could a “conveyor belt” system work? Example: The vendor board selects an item at random and displays it for purchase. That item remains on display and available for purchase until a buyer touches the vendor which locks it to them for purchase. This allowed the buyer to purchase the item and deliver it. The vendor unlocks and then selects another item at random and displays it for purchase and the cycle repeats. Example image here and credit to Nadi Vemo for the approved vendor design. A: Yes, as long as the item currently being purchased is known. Note however that you should discontinue the use of the “gacha” term for these sales. Q: But what about breedables (again)? A: If you buy a brown cat, and a blue cat (as examples), as long as you knew you were getting a brown cat and a blue cat at the time of sale, this is acceptable at the present including the various unknown traits they may come with or develop. Secondarily, when those cats make little kittens with unknown outcomes, this is also acceptable. Lastly, the resale of any breedables will require at the time of purchase that the purchaser knows what they are purchasing at the root level (for example, it is a blue cat). Q: What about my specific idea, you didn’t cover it here? A: We wish we could cover all the great ideas we’ve seen proposed to date. Sadly we can’t address them all and if there are any questions or proposed ideas that would suggest any other permutations on the policy, we recommend a simple and thoughtful approach to stay within the boundaries of the policy. Failing that, please feel free to contact customer support. https://community.secondlife.com/blogs/entry/8586-policy-change-regarding-gacha/
  11. Just to expand on your post with more info, Prokofy...Basically, banning Gacha from SL is because of SL itself then? They decided that from resident pressure, I'd assume, since real arcades are allowed in RL where the item is not known in the USA. SL has it in their policy that one cannot sell an item that is not "known", meaning one cannot see it, so doesn't know what it is. Here is some copy/paste from LL @Cinos Fieldand all the things one needs to know about why Gacha is banned here in SL, as are any games where the item is unknown. This copy/paste link I'm pasting below (if one opens it and reads it) states fishing is still allowed because when one buys the bait it is a known item that the purchaser is buying. I believe we are allowed to give away random prizes, such as a raffle, as long as it's free and equally fair to all to have the same chance. Or, something like that. (Link below). I have eyedrops in my eyes, so I cannot see too well at the moment. But, here's some copy/paste and a link.... 12. I have been wondering lately why people are so keen on this redelivery feature and what it's for, even being a miniscule MP merchant myself. So, I got to thinking about it one day, is the redelivery feature's great relevance in that there would be hopes that when new bodies come out, the clothing item one already owns will be updated for that new body? I hardly ever need redelivery - Dinkies are one size fits all (even if we change Dinkie shape) and I mostly make my own stuff in SL. So, I dunno what's so great about it? I understand the need for redelivery when our basic body has updated - even Dinkie bodies needed an update for BOM. But, redelivery overall as something spectacular, I'm not sure why? It rarely has become a need for me. As far as MP, I search in the stores themselves. Just searching Google could give me enough new good stores to last for months of looking. Google search has a link to take you right to the item on MP. Google Images search may help filter out old junk. The trick is learning to be a good keyword searcher on Google. In MP stores themselves, use newest first for those who do not know. Newest First is found in a dropdown menu near the top to the right where it says RELEVANCE.
  13. I dunno? But, to Jackson's OP and comments, banks opt-in to this, and they want banks to opt-in to (or it is opt into? lol) FedNow because it's in the beta phase. Tilia nor Paypal are banks. Tilia is currently a licensed money transmitter; Paypal is an online payments option. Again, neither are banks at this time. Paypal was at one time a bank but that was a long, long time ago. The article (I shared on Page 1 of this thread with the FAQ) also states FedNow is to transfer super fast from bank-to-bank working alongside companies such as Paypal. So, I went off topic when I found out what Linden and Tilia mean because there is nothing to discuss here really that pertains to SL. The Linden and Tilia are trees that are used for wood and that wood is used for building. And, I thought that was interesting as there is nothing to discuss here regarding FedNow and SL, and never may be. Tilia could someday become a bank. Who knows? But, none of this is forced. And, currently this topic has nothing to do with SL @Jackson Redstar because Tilia is not a bank and, even if it were, banks won't be forced.
  14. I know. It just thought I'd use the word a lot in a sentence and spell it correctly and then add additional things about my post regarding the Lindens and Tilia, both trees, both woods, SL is building. I can see how SL picked their names Linden and Tilia - these are woods with not a lot of wood grain. Most of my post is not directed towards you specifically, anyways.
  15. The Lindens seem to like wood a lot, and then having a nice cup of tea. Makes me want to build something with the original built-in prims in the viewer. You all should try rezzing some wood prims and build something at least once in your SL. Happy Hippo just advertised a build your own home class just last week. I hope you all try it just once. You right click on the floor and select create from the pie menu and then tap the floor where you want the shape to generate. You need to select which item you want to generate from the top of the edit menu if you want something different than a box shape. Then, stretch them to make something like a wall or if you select another shape resize it to make the shape of a seat for example. There is also Sloyd, a free AI sculpty-looking stuff generator and you just pick a whole object to generate. You can learn to manipulate the object that is generated in Sloyd. There are some tutorials on Twitter about Sloyd also. Sloyd to me, looks great for youngsters if you have any. Just passing this info along, especially for those with kids. These AI objects could be used for many games, I'd assume.
  16. That's probably why most people call it "Belli". Most of us know what "Belli" means. Fun or not so fun facts: Actually, the Linden is a tree with it's flowers 'the linden flower' often made into tea. Tilia is a genus of trees or bushes. lin·den noun a deciduous tree with heart-shaped leaves and fragrant yellowish blossoms, native to north temperate regions. The pale soft timber is used for carving and furniture. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Tilia is a genus of about 30 species of trees or bushes, native throughout most of the temperate Northern Hemisphere. The tree is known as linden for the European species, and basswood for North American species. Wikipedia Scientific name: Tilia Growth rate: 13 to 24 inches each year sfgate.com Family: Malvaceae Kingdom: Plantae Linden trees produce soft and easily worked timber, which has very little grain and a density of 560 kg/m3.[17] It was often used by Germanic tribes for constructing shields. It is a popular wood for model building and for intricate carving. Especially in Germany, it was the classic wood for sculpture from the Middle Ages onwards and is the material for the elaborate altarpieces of Veit Stoss, Tilman Riemenschneider, and many others. In England, it was the favoured medium of the sculptor Grinling Gibbons[18] (1648–1721). The wood is used in marionette- and puppet-making and -carving. Having a fine, light grain and being comparatively light in weight, it has been used for centuries for this purpose; despite the availability of modern alternatives, it remains one of the main materials used as of 2015. In China, it was also widely used in carving or furniture, interior decorating, handicrafts ... etc.[14]
  17. The No Grand Opening nor advertisement along with the pay-to-lose Casino idea, are the reasons I think there is something else going on here. It's like a clue game, although I think Qie is on to something with the burn idea, but that's still only a possibility. The problem is if people stumble in there and see it's a Casino, they may just assume you can win. Which is a very sad predicament.
  18. Something that is possible in the speculative sense is a Linden Whale wanted "out" and this way instead of said "whale" dumping all at once, SocialCasino Linden could cash out slowly. I think it's a new burn mechanism of some kind but I am not knowledgeable about the way it works. If this is a burn mechanism it would have a way to keep track. Well, I think they are doing 'something', it's just not clear what it is yet. I doubt very many residents would buy these tokens for those prices when the only option for playing with the tokens is that you lose.
  19. I think you hit "bingo". I think that is probably exactly what they are trying to do with these lindens...make them go away. We just don't know the full reason why yet.
  20. If they "burn" them wouldn't that reduce the supply of lindens, thus creating more value in the Linden because there would be less lindens? What do you mean by "burn" them exactly?
  21. First off, yes it's Tilia. T i l i a. Tilia has been one of the most misspelled words to exist in SL. This is the first I've heard of FedNow. Here is an article I came across with the FAQs (frequently asked questions). Basically says banks opt-in and they *may* start a CBDC (central bank digital currency). Article says we can still use Paypal, etc. It's from Forbes, but it's a free to read. https://www.forbes.com/advisor/personal-finance/fednow-faqs/#:~:text=Does FedNow Replace Money Apps,Cash App%2C PayPal or Zelle.
  22. Since SL is run by what could be thousands and thousands of inworld sellers, SL is basically a buyer beware policy alongside the good faith policy by individual sellers. LL doesn't have the staff to cover all the SL stores. And, it would be expensive to hire the help to do that and that cost would be passed onto us. Plus, it's not really LL's problem anyway as they did not set up the vendors. I suggested you ask because I did not know the store you were speaking of and it could have been a store full of empty vendors for all I know which would be a fraud. If there were a store like that, LL would shut it down I'm going to assume. However, I should have stated were LL to find such a store with all empty vendors, they might not even let you know, but they would just shut it down most likely. And, that would be a good thing for all SL users. The vendors are filled by a human being who is prone to human error and can make a mistake. I double and triple check my vendors to make sure everything is in there and it takes hours of work just doing the double and triple checking. The person might have gotten a little lazy, or tired, or something in real life happened to distract their filling the vendor. Wait another week or so. There is still hope you may get your item. Also, open the local chat for that group every day and type in that group chat if there is anyone who can help you...as your item was not delivered.
  23. Okay, first of all I am sure it is not a "glitch". What could be the problem is the vendor you paid had individual dances and the full fatpack in there (supposedly for sale). However, the seller may have forgotten to load the fatpack of the dances into the vendor. It could have been a human oversight but if there is no communication on this, I'd suggest you contact LL so they can check the vendor itself. See, how vendors work is the seller has to put all the items in there and this one may have ended up in human error in the loading of items into the vendor. Alert LL about it.
  24. Did you relog and check if it's there? Relogging sometimes has to be done with MP purchases too. It's the only glitch I ever get but every time I relog, it's there. Also, could you describe the glitch? What happened? If it copies, it copies; if it delivers content, it delivers content. Did you crash? Crashing hardly ever happens anymore. Ever.
