  1. Or it's trolling to find out if we have money. So I am going to change my post to say... I have no money, none, nada. I'm beginning to think this kind of thing is more trap than trolling. Even the "do you voice" threads could be scammers looking for those who DO NOT voice so they can try to befriend us inworld with a different avatar and try to get us to click on something and start keylogging us. I don't trust that trolling thing anymore. I think there is more to it. Scammers. So, btw, OP, I have no money, none. Now, maybe to anyone in the general audience, you could say, Elise is getting paranoid or maybe wising up in her old age? Hmmmmmm....trolling or looking for information?
  2. Well, you asked in your OP and included brothels. If LL got involved in adult things that include over 18 avatars as well as the real people at the keyboard such as a brothel, it wouldn't bother me. I doubt they'd be interested in it either, however.
  3. You said, in your post above quoting you "there's a crazy lack of protection for buyers on SL and it's weird that it hasn't been addressed". It's been addressed as far as I am concerned in their TOS that's why I copied and pasted it. You have to take any concern you have with an item to LL directly if you have a problem. That's why I told the OP to report it. They, don't, however, let people know the outcome of every single case. Items being pulled for DCMA infringement is the biggest problem in SL. What problems people generally run into with products on SL...I've not had any, other my blunder to rush into buying my first mesh heads which ended up not being what I really wanted until I finally bought my third. But, I haven't had any problem except one who had the wrong perms but I got over it.
  4. I meant the portrayal of a child, meaning 18 or under, because that will be what the definition of child is on the internet in California beginning July 1, 2024. So, any child portrayals, no way. So, no baby girls under that age would be okay with me, think of this Epstein debacle which is, of course, way worse because it's real life. As far as LL getting involved in anything as a business in SL of their own, that's what the OP is asking. If the avi's are over 18 or mature enough looking, it's consenting adults to me. The other side is those who sneak on here who are underage. That's much harder to figure out. It's also complicated that brothels are mostly illegal but they are sort of legal here. I don't understand it all either. The line blurs at times since this is a portrayal and not real life.
  5. Even though I don't run in those circles, it's happening. Posters have even written about their experience with being "hit up" by these young looking avatars in Adult clubs. I believe they were telling the truth. There was one guy who even had a photo in their profile of the child-looking girl in the Adult club in the almost no-clothing see-thru type of almost no clothes on. It's happening. I saw the photo in his profile. He reported it. He was a nice guy.
  6. On the other side of screen at the keyboard, possibly, but that's not the portrayal of the Daddy Dom's and Baby Girl's in SL on the screen. If the avi's were 45, there'd be no need to make and sell all this "stuff" for certain child-like portrayals. But, anyhow, I don't think LL would ever get involved with that *portrayal* aspect of SL. It's far too super ick for most people to even want to talk about.
  7. How so? Daddy Dom and Baby Gurl is included in the list of "things" in the OP as things that would or what not be too much "ick". How old are these "baby gurrrrrrrrls", btw? Child in California on the internet will soon (in about a year) be defined as all those under the age of 18. And, I'm talking portrayal of child exploitation or portrayal of physical child abuse which is sold on MP and inworld because the OP asked about SL. Buut, not only is this crap sold but goes further than just a picture inworld. We all know it's happening. It's just not in areas I've ever seen.
  8. Their Terms and Conditions states in the first paragraph though, very clearly, that if you don't agree with their policy, you should decline. If you do not so agree, you should decline this Second Life Policy, in which case you are prohibited from accessing or using Second Life. https://www.lindenlab.com/legal/second-life-terms-and-conditions
  9. Well, that's what I said, if LL willfully and deliberately got involved with child exploitation or physical child abuse, which I doubt LL would ever get involved with, that would too much for me. As far as other icks between consenting adults, I already deal with it already mostly by avoidance and that each person involved in adult activity is an adult and needs to take care of themselves and they can shut the viewer down if something in SL is too much for them. Not to mention there are loads of non-ick things they can go to and try. Nothing is forced on them here.
  10. Wow. When it's been floated around on the SL forums for years that LL should include "gaming" elements to attract new users, I never thought it would be something like this. I thought it would have something with incentives like win a little bit but I guess that would be bot farmed if one could win lindens. The one thing this Social Casino does do, as far as games, is detract the bot farmers. Social gambling does have a bit of "sexiness", I guess. Start out in a virtual world in a Casino with hot girls/guys as a hot girl/guy and order a Martini...and so on...no stress of learning...just relax and meet and greet and play.
  11. Yes, and that's what makes it lame, that side-stepping. However, I cannot see my state legalizing online gambling, it would be far too costly in real jobs. It's not only the jobs from the taxi drivers to the Casino owners and everyone in-between, it's all the small businesses that surround the Casinos. The cost in jobs would be astronomical. As far as back on topic, what is too much of an "ick factor" for LL to get involved with as a business on SL. The real "ick factors" of SL to me involves something I do not think LL would ever get involved with which is willful and deliberate child exploitation, and the other, physical abuse of children.
  12. No, I meant when Social Casinos were created, there was no legal online gambling back then, not that I've ever heard and this Social Casino thing was lamely created in it's stead. I read an article back to 2013 about Social Casinos. From what I know of now, I think gambling is legal now in about six states. How LL would separate the legal states from the illegal states if they wanted to bring real legal gambling here, I'd have no idea how they could do that but that isn't even what I was talking about. I'd think if legalized gambling ever came to SL, they'd want more states than just six. Many states have fought online gambling because they don't want to lose the real jobs more than is it ethical or unethical to gamble. The main reason is they do not want to lose the jobs period.
  13. Yes, this is how it was. ^^^^^^^^ Now that's changed. I had never heard of Social Casinos before and when I first came to these many threads on this Social Casino by LL, it was stated this was like a role play Casino. Now, after reading and learning more information in these threads and by reading a few articles, these Social Casinos date back to 2013 per an article I read with that year. I still cannot see it as any way but to intentionally lose real big money if one isn't just using the free chips, and that I don't understand the draw of it. Now that I know these have been "a thing" for quite some time, I think it has been a draw for people on mobile phones plus, since legalized gambling wasn't allowed on the web, this was created lamely in it's place. The reason I mention mobile is because SL may have difficulty running much on mobile and LL thought this is the way to get people into SL (mobile). But, to have it free, that would be a huge bill on LL for all those servers for all those people who may want to play for free. LL simply might have seen this is the way to draw people into SL on mobile when that time comes. If my suspicions are right, I wish they would have thought of something else. I can't see newbies going for much beyond the NUX avatar and looking for quick hook-ups with this set up for mobile SL. But, then again, gotta get this thing off the ground first. The saddest part of all is people are addicted to their phones literally.
  14. I believe there are two main types of gamblers: one is considered a professional gambler, the other a compulsive gambler. The one in the middle may be considered a social gambler. It's the compulsive gambler that could have a problem with these types of games where one really doesn't win anything of value a professional gambler would be after. ____________________________________________________________________________________ Def. of professional gambler: They are skilled in the games they choose to play and are able to control both the amount of money and time spent gambling. Thus, professional gamblers are not addicted to gambling.
  15. I'm not so sure, Qie. How can you say the winner of the National Poker Championship isn't after both money and bragging rights? I would think the winner of that would be after both. But, this is winning tokens as the only thing one can win, so the higher the tokens the more they feel they are winning or gaining some kind of self-esteem which I translated into bragging rights. I just don't get this kind of thing where people would pay this kind of money where they really cannot win anything of real value except some kind of score and free plays ad infinitum. I can understand those who play for free with their free tokens every day as a kind of pastime, however. ETA: After thinking about your whole post above, Qie, oh, I see, I think what you are saying with your post above is it is just a compulsion. Ok, that I understand now.
  16. We posted at the same time. I am wondering this too. This kind of SL Social Casino is out in the open. But, what is it that would drive people to pay these kinds of prices for SL tokens? Does anyone know? Sometimes, I feel there is something we don't know yet. I have an idea but don't want to say what I think it is at this time. Plus, time has been fleeting here and if my idea was correct, I think they would have said something by now.
  17. No, I meant at SL. What else can one actually win here in SL other than bragging rights when other avi's are around? And, this is a social casino in SL, with avatars that could be around at the time of high stakes betting, how are they going to hide this? I gather you are speaking of prior casino games people were playing online in private. This is out in the open now. What would drive a person to pay these kinds of asking prices for these SL tokens? What is the driver?
  18. With loot boxes and now internet pseudo-Casino games (not even sure what to call them), the only thing people who spend considerable amounts of money on these is for bragging rights. When Gacha first started I'm sure people were addicted not only to completing the set but the bragging rights to say they were the first the get the rare. It was like a race. After some time though the market was flooded with Gachas, so bragging rights went down considerably. Although with loot boxes, bragging rights continued as a major hook and that's why people kept buying. With this Casino, I see bragging rights as the main hook for the ones who keep buying the tokens because they are not going to actually win anything else of actual value except some "hidden score" or as a few others have said in this thread, a few people who cheer them on to win at their big bet and turn some heads their way.
  19. I'm not talking about people who play over and over and over - that's the addicted. I was speaking about the occasional "oh, I'll give this Gacha machine a spin" but in my mind I'm still saying "even though I know I am going to lose and not get the object I want". I could justify this occasional-use playing by the simple fact the creator did NOT have a tip jar out. So, I'd spin, full well knowing I am not going to get the prize I want. But, heck since no tip jar, at least I got a try at getting the object I wanted. I never got an object I wanted out of any Gacha machine. It was all lose. It wasn't until items became second-hand that I got Gachas I wanted. I wasn't speaking about those that do keep playing and cannot stop. That's similar to drinking. There is no stop mechanism for alcoholics until we create one ourselves and with perseverance utilize our stop mechanism. I still see similarities in the playing to lose with all of them. But, I think there is another addiction in some of these games (Casino, Gacha, Loot Boxes) and it's called "bragging rights". I think many were addicted to bragging rights.
  20. I was thinking "kind of" like loot boxes or Gachas but there is a but. With super minor Gacha players who would throw 50 linden at a machine perhaps once a month we knew our odds were to lose but it wasn't all that much so I did that every once in a while - threw some money at a Gacha machine but I also looked at it as even though I know I probably won't get what I want, I'm supporting the creator by occasionally giving them some lindens in lieu of them not having a tip jar out. But, I was never addicted to it. I mostly bought second-hand what I wanted. But, I think I see a link in addicted to lose here because of so many posts on Gacha I saw on this forum that said I never get what I want - so it was a lose game to most and most people couldn't be bothered with reselling it or trading it. With loot boxes, same, people knew mostly lose, but for some reason kept buying them.
  21. It's beginning to sound a little like loot boxes then or Gacha even, although with Gacha at least one could sell or trade the item they didn't like. Loot boxes eventually just became full of junk that wasn't even useable for the character nor to advance in the game and people were spending a lot of money on those as well just to lose like this premise until eventually parents and others began to say "no more" and were trying to ban those loot boxes - because it was an addiction to losing.
  22. Maybe, kind of like arcades, but I think those arcade games have some kind of hand-eye coordination and some people can become very skilled at those but, then again, I guess there is a little skill here unless it is a script that just keeps repeating the same sequence over and over. Me just touching on gambling and addiction: I always thought the addiction to gambling and/or betting is that one believes (almost delusional) that they will win one day and win big and be rich! It's often portrayed in movies that way. It's like give me the money just one more time, I know this time I'm going to hit it big! It's a very sad thing overall to lose all one's money until even the house is gone or is in jeopardy of being lost. This is a game where no one can win money. That winning part is gone. Some say it's like a game Candy Crush which I've heard of that is pseudo-gambling too. I just don't see how it could be as addictive as the real thing where one can win big and win it all and be rich! (Yeah, typical movie portrayal) but I've been in Vegas a few times and other Casinos elsewhere and I overhear paying saying "did you hit"..."did you hit". The thing they seem to want in Casinos is for it to "hit" which means all the bells and whistles go off on the machine and money comes flying out. And, they keep doing it until they "hit". Yes, I watched in a Casino my first time because I did not know what to do, so I spied around. The thing they want is for the machine to "hit"! and hit big! This isn't going to do that.
  23. Many of the things the OP lists as possibilities for ick have no specific sexuality, they encompass many sexualities. So, I don't think straights or "normal people these days" has anything to do with what is a good role model at all. For just one example, this Casino is for all, sexualities plus includes no sexuality too, there are no boundaries here. What is considered an ick with the Casino can interfere with all our lives and it's called addiction. The OP, I think, is asking how far can this go before it's too much. It's like one person who posted LL is doing what? Huh? Some people are baffled. I think perhaps because it was banned, now it's not banned but has loopholes.
