  1. And of course you can rent a piece of land without being a Premium Member. However, you may find that with both purchasing and renting land, you have no control over what your neighbors put up on their land (unless you are renting on a private estate where there is a covenant).
  2. Sitting on the southern tip, I can see non-Linden land if my draw distance is set too high, so I just keep my draw distance around 200...I'll see the continent but nothing on it.
  3. Some more: Angelic Visions Antiques - http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Folsom Creed/179/206/3003 Bentley Furniture - http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Bentley Homes East/116/74/803 (although, many of their living rooms are modern) Marketplace Only: Shadow Dreams - https://marketplace.secondlife.com/stores/52254 Indulge - https://marketplace.secondlife.com/stores/106362
  4. So, I walk out the front door of my new Victorian Linden Home today and see this across the street: I am hoping that the "boards" which have pictures on the other side of them, are simply a "mood board" and temporary. Hopefully this is a "non-functioning" antique store and the owner understands you can't use the Linden Homes for businesses.
  5. My revised list, with additions, in alphabetical order, I don't really count places like Fancy Decor which might have some ornate brass beds and a few accent pieces, but are otherwise modern. Don't get me wrong, I love Fancy Decor, I just don't personally put it in the category of carrying antique/vintage style furniture. 6. Trying to put together a list of shops for those looking for more "traditional"/antique furniture (ie, not Contemporary, Urban Rustic, Industrial, Modern or Mid-Century Modern). Some of these shops have furniture that fits into those other categories as well as other pieces that are more traditional, and other shops in this list have mostly traditional or antique furniture. Note that there are some great stores that are not included on this list (Fancy Decor, Floorplan, Loft/Aria, etc.) because the great majority of their pieces fit into the Contemporary, Urban Rustic, Modern, etc. styles. 7. I assumed that part stays white, like it’s trim...
  8. Here's another shop I went to today that has more "traditional" furniture...http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/La Galleria II/185/157/26 Not specifically Victorian, but mostly not modern. I'm thinking about the white or cream camelback sofa and chairs for the spring.
  9. Yes I'm very happy with the beachfront and don't plan on abandoning again.
  10. OK, have moved from the east coast to the west. Bertram, 1 row away from the ocean. Issues with moving around, will take my graphics preference levels down and log in again if needed. EDITED TO ADD: Spoke too soon. The property didn't give me control over it, so I abandoned. EDITED TO ADD: Far south, on the beach. The Elms. Needs some grass, but since its waterfront I will be keeping it.
  11. Thanks...just am debating over abandoning what I have. There's a few quirks going on since there's nearby property that is still unreleased. Can't even walk down the street without things weirding out.
  12. Are Victorians still available or are is it pretty much just abandons now?
  13. I personally came back to Premium (and actually back to being active in SL) because of the new Linden Homes. I fellt that with Bellisaria, SL is finally on the way to realizing the potential it has had since the beginning of really being a VR social community. Not only for events and specific groups, but for all premium users who are willing to be just a little bit outgoing (with events and public land open to non premium users as well).
  14. Just went to Apple Fall today and noticed that they have some wingback chairs near the back of the store that are $0. There were a whole bunch of folks there which was rather surprising to me.
  15. I am guessing that they are trying to build up enough inventory to remove the old style homes as an option when selecting a home...
  16. OK, with my main avi - first one: controller set far away from house, still deeded to Lindens and did not work. Second one...ok but very land-locked (not surprising with the Victorians). Decided to try one more time...just a block away from the islands, will keep this one even though houses to the right are still being bug-tested and have the red text that shows through on my house...but I figure that will go away very soon.
  17. Just got one with my alt. Landlocked but right across from a small pond. If they are still available when I get home, I’ll abandon my traditional and get a Victorian, then abandon the alt’s Victorian
  18. Prior to Christmas Decorating, I had the house done in a very light wood style. Here's the kitchen.
  19. And here's the family room in the addition, looking out towards the front.
  20. Well, I've maxed out my prim allowance. I do have one of the larger extensions on the house, but only a VERY LI Skybox. Upstairs in the addition is empty. Three Christmas tress in the house, though.
  21. I was wondering if these. houses are partly a result of feedback on the Traditionals. For example, the increased size overall. The fact that so many people in the Traditionals have put up add-ons even Even Victorian version of the one story is a lot larger and has more rooms. I also think it's not a bad idea for Linden Labs to have their first several themes be styles that would be more popular. As a business, they're got to balance the creative urge with pleasing the highest number of customers (and attracting new premium members if possible). I know that there are people out there looking for something more interesting and exotic, and. hopefully more themes will continue to be released.
  22. Also...with those two houses across from one another, the one that apparently had the fog emitter (never fully rezed for me) actually had four or five copies of it on their land. No wonder that nets were laggy there!
  23. Well, I jumped on my scooter tonight and took a spin through a number of neighborhoods.. Less than 5% of the homes have already begun the decorating process outside. The worst case I've seen is two obnoxious homes right across from one another...one with a snow particle emitter and the other with some kind of fog emitter (both with lots of other decorations). Needless to say its rather laggy around there.
