"better people" is not literal better people, it's a fictional cohort that LL have bet the farm on more than once, and the same fictional cohort that Meta just crashed and burnt trying to attract. They don't exist. There is no magical group of people who want to dump huge amounts of time and money into a virtual world without social cohesion, a core feature of which is adult interactions and content. We all do other things, and it's just as insulting to suggest those here for the sex are only here for that, or that they should be shunned and attacked for it.

Scale matters. All the book clubs in SL contribute to LL's bottom line. 100% not doubting or dumping on that at all. As a huge fan and collector of books I am all behind this. The hundreds of full region sex places pay for considerably more. Fiscally. No they aren't. Even if no one visits either location, a region owner is measurably more important to the bottom line. (snipping because there is a lot here to reply to, I don't disagree)

I'm sure these hidden virtual worlds are in cahoots with all the hidden book clubs. The point remains though .. you couldn't find any.

Someone would need to file a JIRA, there would need to be a meeting, maybe two, cost and assign a developer, review and quality control the changes, performance analysis and metrics, perhaps some kind of double blind study to gauge the impact of such a UI change ... (and they call it agile .. )

5 digits in tips does not pay the bills, that's pennies for LL. People buying whole regions to host massive sex clubs pays LL. The massive economic churn around dressing for bed pays LL. Yes adult venues fail, because the costs to run them are so high. That book club is sat on someone's free teir. I hope LL don't spend the $4 a month they make all at once.

That the point though. The adult community has had NOTHING from LL for 20 years. We got some regions at SLB20. That's it. Every niche and "better people" community gets talked up and written about ad nauseam. Isn't all this art wonderful, LL are putting the full weight of the platforms mouth piece behind it and you can join 4 other people there right now. The adult community is the biggest and most important community and we have been shunned and hidden away since the start. SL is in a hole. The "better people" marketing fails and has failed since the start. LL built a whole new world just for the "not sex" demographic and then sold it to someone else and it's still a complete disaster. I would like LL to start talking, positively, about the biggest demographic we have. At all. It's not about "more focus" .. its not even about "proportional focus", can we have "any focus at all". Please. Adult content and those who participate are paying all the bills and have been since day one.

Yes. Obviously. The point isn't that my crappy search didn't find all 7 hidden book clubs, its that the same crappy search found hundreds and hundreds of sex places. Imagine all the hidden sex places I didn't find (SL has a rich legacy of sex places that didn't work out and still exist, there are more dead locations left to rot than the hundreds and hundreds of active ones). Also .. obviously .. I had hoped it would be understood there is a huge difference between a venue that operates for 3 hours a week at odd times and a social hot spot that packed and busy 24/7. Which one's participants pays the bills? The book club that's empty 99% of the week, or the sex location that isn't empty when logins are broken.

No. It's us and VRChat ...and the people here in denial really should't peek under VRChat's skirt, UWU. Every other open ended virtual world project, bar none is a complete turkey. There is a case for places like WoW being a virtual world, but that's not what we would consider one. If SL launched today, cold, it would tank. We have social momentium keeping us going and nothing more. A good analogy would be a club in SL that's packed, but is actually just a empty field / room. It might have stared out with all sorts of things and a build, but over the years has all been refined away. The place is popular because it's popular. That's us now. We have a tiny niche with an absurd amount of loyalty and social cohesion that's built upon adult content. No one likes having XXX ads, even the people into adult stuff. The state of the land market is a separate thread and a big discussion we should be having. It is not good. The roads in Zindra (and Horizons on the crossings) are a disaster, I have no hope they will ever be reworked.

This is the (intentional?) misinterpretation that happens on the forums. SL sex undoubtedly keeps the lights on and is a (if not the) major draw. This use case gets ZERO from LL. Adult content got a few regions at SLB20, the first time ever. That's it. That's all the inclusion that isn't triple gated away behind hidden menus and options. But if anyone asks for anything .. suddenly, that means SL is pivoting to be 100% sex and all 3 of the book clubs no one visits will have to close. It's disingenuous and in my view harming the platform from both a user needs and developmental perspective. We have had 20 years pretending this mess is pure as the driven snow and only caters to the higher needs on Maslow's pyramid. The reality is we're all down in the muck and for some reason, everything is sticky.

LL should include some mention of the adult communities in SL on their website and acknowledge our existence. Believe it or not, adult users of SL are not served AT ALL. It's not unfair to want SOME inclusion in promotional material or sex positive informational resources, or to believe that the full on denial is actively hurting the platform. Yes, my searches will never show the a wellness group that meets for an hour every Thursday. But that wellness group is not keeping the lights on for SL, it's probably costing the platform money.
