Roblox are publicly traded (NYSE:RBLX). You can just look that information up .. and that kind of tells you everything you need to know. Roblox is an absolute juggernaut, we're not even at the same table.

Lets not even look at 3.6 That could easily be a substantial obligation... should probably have a lawyer look over this before you agree to anything. Who will likely say "to be clear .. this is so you can make pretend clothing that sells for pennies, for an intentionally disposable avatar.. you're going to need to sell hundreds to settle your account here"

Linden Lab do not need to ask you send them things in a specific format if you have uploaded it. There is no "form or format" anymore. If you keep reading it then goes on say. "providing to Linden Lab such information and assistance as Linden Lab deems desirable" They could ask you for literally anything under the sun without limitation. That is literally what that means.

Then why would they need to specify or even ask. Files "in SL" are only in one format, and they have them, they can just grab them right off the asset servers. LL do not need special permission to look in your inventory 😂 They are asking for files they don't already have. Source files.

Would such a person even be recognized and listened to.

Why. if I make ugly garbage with the dev kit .. it wont be seen by new users, it wont be in starter area, it will (at best) be hidden away on the marketplace. The poor new user wont ever know my ugly garbage exists. Just me and whatever Linden I might have to send my files to for inspection .. I wonder, are they going to want the .blend, that would be incredibly silly considering that file can contain unrestricted python.

Access to such funding is a rare privilege, unlikely to be something anyone invested in this platform as a user will ever be able to obtain. Any attempt to rejuvenate this place must start by answering one simple premise; Given the range of available options for creating and publishing suitable content, why should anyone (hobbyist or professional or studio) chose to do it here and what prevents them from doing so already.

Why aren't we doing this. Why don't we have a turbo boost start .. $30 and you get to pick an premium 3rd party avatar and outfit. Put your money in and scroll though a load of body and outfit combinations. Allow any and all avatar creators to submit avatar bodies and outfit to the pool. Let people see numbers for the popularity of the component parts they are buying. Offer full ready to go Human, furry, everything, avatars. Users get a head start for less than the cost of shopping the parts, brands get a captive sale as part of on-boarding. The very best SL has to offer right at the door. You enter the world set. Made. Ready and in good standing. Why is this all so hard. Why is it always up hill both ways to a result no one actually wants.

Are you going to hold up a release for all bodies while waiting for LL to sign off on the Senra version? What happens if they ask for source files. Who gets to see your secret sauce .. a Linden .. a Mole (as in .. another resident, likely with a store, operating as a contractor under a pseudonym). What happens if they disprove of your work. What happens when your customers get in touch asking why their foolish newbie purchases don't work with <brand> body, are you going to explain how that works or ghost them? If all Senra does is deliberately waste a newbies money, do we even deserve a second chance ?

They don't get Ruth .. they get dog bag lady and disco stu, and then immediately discover they can't dress it and need to spend money on a socially viable avatar. No one is digging Ruth up and giving her corpse a spin just in case.

That's an expensive way to learn "clothes bought for one body don't work on another".

It's not just that. This creates a situation where the best (and most ethical) advice for new players is "don't buy stuff for your Senra avatar, save your money till you get a real mesh body".

There is no one magic bullet, what works for one person might do nothing for the next. But the the point was to try doing things rather than nothing, and well .. we've gotten very used to accepting and being happy with nothing. Mobile will live or die based on how the experience pans out , which honestly, is very much in question. How much SL is anyone going to get done on a lunch/poop break? How does SL work with intermittent glances while busy or commuting or at a job? How does that experience change the world for the rest of us, did all the ghosts standing in silence really just become tabbed out mobile users? We needed mobile a decade ago, then we would have an evolved and complementary mobile product today. What we need LL working on today is generative AI leveraging the 20 years worth of data we have provided them.

But here's the rub .. It has been falling for 14 years. We have always managed to have just enough new people. We're bleeding out and though some lucky happenstance, can make just enough new blood by chugging water from this jug. We wont ever address the bleeding, or take steps to close the wound, we're just assuming the jug wont ever run out. That noise .. oh just crunching up the ice, bound to be more water soon, it's summer .. and you know.

That's how this works and why these forums are dominated by a few regulars and so deeply out of touch with the subject matter. The majority of people who post here don't push back and hang around till they fit in, they just never come back. Kind of like something else that happens, if only I could put my finger on it. This is an echo chamber that's borderline hostile to bulk of the products user-base. yet somehow still remains relevant from a policy perspective. I can't imagine how that ends badly, but here we are.

On the contrary, I love SL and am deeply invested. I'm just not a fan of the forum games. I'm heading towards my 18th year on this platform, so please understand, when I say "things are very bad right now" I have direct experience to compare and contrast. I'm sure if people here logged in more they might notice. But this is the forum, so who cares about any of that when there are personal victories to be won, scorn to be unleashed, straw-men to build and then murder.

This summer has been brutal. It's one thing to opine on it being summer and post covid and all so understandable .. but my reading is that should SL fail to uptick after summer (and that uptick is not historically assured), it's in real trouble. When one person leaves, we are all poorer. When an entire social block up and leaves .. we just wiped out, even if you personally don't see it as a loss. Every group I'm connected to is now struggling, this is a very expensive place to call home.

Bias challenged. I'd suggest you go join a panther camp and find out for yourself (it might amaze you, but it can be done in an entirely non sexual way with zero non-consensual play), but those days are pretty much over. Find out who owns or builds what few Gorean regions remain. The cites here used to be very tourist friendly, you could explore and talk to actual Gorean men and women, in their RP, in a way that does not break the rules of the RP or single you out for unwanted advances. You could look up the staggering amount of Gorean writing online and check the gender of its authors. Check Gorean groups on places like Fetlife. Join a Conan server. Listen to the Gorean Whip radio station. But in 14 years of SL you haven't done those things because it was easier to believe a simplistic narrative cooked up by people outside the group. The saddest part is you might actually have enjoyed it at its peak. Seriously though, Who do you think organizes all of this? Certainly not Mr StereoType with his enormous belt buckle that's for sure. The guys only show up because their are girls to play with. Except when the guys are played by girls .. because that happens a whole lot and they are devastatingly good at it.

If only there could have been a Furry Gor in SL .. oh wait! It has! Furry Gor was totally a thing. What happened to Furry Gor .. no one played and the owners did something else with their land, turns out .. the fun part of Gor for the furry community was trolling "Goreans" in their own home and crying about it. Fursecution is not a thing. (I am a multi international convention badge carrying member of the fandom. The furry population is overwhelmingly gay male orientated which makes conventions as a girl somewhat fraught .. either getting hate, ignored, or groped .. because what even are boundaries). No Love, That's not actually the case either. Gor is almost entirely run by women for women. But no one listens to women ... Every single furry con I have ever been to. Every. Single. One. Room parties are wild.

Let me just peek in to kill this one dead. There are no furries in Gor because Gor has no furries. It's that simple. This is not "fursecution" and all the fluff entitled furries with little regard for other groups boundaries is just that, entitled fluff, and a decade long pathetic whine. "I went to a place and they banned me, there must be _REASONS_ other than you know .. the big obvious one reason." Deliberately going to Gor and getting banned was a right of passage in some furry circles, yet no one thought to consider the other side ... we're trying to have a thematic fantasy RP here and these furry trolls keep showing up to deliberately poop in the middle of the room and then cry about it not being ok. 🙄 There are no Storm Troopers in Star Trek.
