I was thinking that. Another MMO my man played recently started the cryptocurrency stuff. They made the log-ins harder and started using the silly hCaptcha crap. A couple weeks he quit that game.

Thought for a moment I was looking at an new MMO game!

When in involves an investment company taking over and running things --- the bean counters go into overdrive to bring maximum revenue into whatever they took over. I do expect more stuff and fees to come.

There's a difference between a bank and playing a toon in a game/virtual world. I left a bank due to 2FA when using a ATM machine at their own branch. I fired them and went to another. If some shenanigans go on, their fraud department will call the house phone to alert me. I did get a call at 2am one night and found out ordered some model train stuff on the phone from a train shop. $350 for a miniature version of UP's 4014 steam engine?

It should NOT be required --- have it as an option for those who really want it. The "requirement" may knock out many residents who chose not to use it. SL has done fine for almost 20 years without it.

Technically it is --- since it has "games" in it like Greedy Greedy, and the game of keeping your boat afloat crossing sim lines.

Was going to put something down --- but it's been said many times in the thread already.

Many mboards do that and it's been an option for most forum software since when the dinosaurs roamed the planet. But many services don't do that option any more or if they do, still require the phone, like my old bank I fired.

Too many things are depending on the phone.

If it became mandatory, I'd be done with SL completely. As for RL financial stuff --- I recently encountered an ATM at my own bank that started 2FA to get your cash on top of entering on the machine itself. I ended up calling the bank and told them and I don't use a smart phone. They said "Sorry, that is our new policy to protect our customers and if you don't have a phone, we have a partner carrier that can set you up." I ended up leaving that bank after a long time.

Some just don't care about them.There about 16 people around that are smart phone free or just have a flip phone, like we do. It's used for it's intended purpose --- talking.

Hopefully the new company that took over LL not planning more surprises. Like: Log in fee. TP fee. Purchase transaction fee. Per message PM and Group chat fee. Fee for having more fees. Hope I didn't give 'em ideas!

Next your it'll probably go up to 10% plus a fee to log in! But the map is fixed!

My man plays League of Legends and another MMO and the accounts username is different then the avi's name in world. Just doing that would be a big help and no 2FA needed there!

Got a message from the person I sold my club to and she became aware of the fee changes and stuff. She plans to shutter the club soon and sell the land as well as drop down to basic level before the yearly fee hits.

My man had cataract surgery and opted for long distance lens --- he loves not wearing glasses!
