  1. we can also be seen on the map, minimap, in Nearby dialog and by a script the basic rule of SL is: if you can see me then I can see you. This is a anti-stalking measure not that you are a stalker and I get why you would want this bc of immersion in a roleplay + it would be possible for LL to implement a complete Hide system for a dedicated type of Roleplay sim I think. A case would need to be made tho, and if there were enough people to tier this type of sim then LL might look at doing it

Could make about 380L a hour then Wow! 48 is the best I've managed so far. 40 is fairly easy but I think you need a bit of luck to get much more than that. Still, lots of people keep their SL and RL money separate for various reasons and you can make enough to rent a nice little house and buy the things you need with Linden Realms money. I'm beginning to think this is a better option than those fishing games people are playing. It's certainly more fun. yes. Is quite fun just running round. Fishing is ok tho if we mostly just into sitting and chatting + in the beginning the greens used to come every 15 minutes. The blues every 30 minutes. 2 blues and 4 greens and 36 orange per sim on the beta hardly anyone was on my evening. Most of the time I would be by myself and could sweep all 12 regions in about half an hour the game used to get reset every day as well. So for the 1st 2 hours about, a lot less crystals were stuck in trees and rocks now the game only gets reset once a month. So lots of crystals get stuck and stay stuck where we cant get them easy + when the crystals did get stuck we used to be able to dig them out by camming and double-click teleport on the ground underneath them inside the tree/rock object. But then the bots came and teleport got disabled so no more digging the easy way is still possible to dig in a different way but I not get into that here + the greens come about every 2 hours now as well. I think the blues are at 4 hours now. I never timed the blues tho to be sure about that and a lot of blues and greens got turned off as well bc of the bots that used to come. The puffers and disabling double-click teleport have pretty much killed the bots and speed devices, so that was ok

The Celts were pretty much in Scotland, Wales and Ireland, so didn't add much, if anything, to the final 'english' result. That might not be 100% accurate but it's a lot more accurate than your equation. i should have said norse instead of viking. To distinguish them from the danes the celts had a major impact on what is now England, particularly prior to the arrival of the roman empire. We should probably add roman/latin in as well, from a cultural pov

And those who come after us (our descendants) do the same in their times also culture is ever-evolving. It always has been and always will be i give a example: briton + celt + angle + saxon + dane + viking + norman = english and no doubt each of the forebears lamented the perceived loss of culture as they understood it to be
  8. is all good (: cankles. Yes we all dont like them much pretty much the standard now is Slink feet. Most of us end up getting them or Slink compatible feet. Is a zillion shoes now made to this standard. They fit perfectly is still possible tho to get shoes with sculpted feet. Where the shoe and foot are created as one object, and we try to match any part of the exposed foot to our avatar skin with varying degrees of success. Can get a whole lot of these now oldschool shoes inworld for free when look round the shops

  10. classic system feet and shoes can be pretty tricky to work with sometimes in the folder with the shoes, you should find: 1) a shoebase which you also wear. It changes your feet (which can look a bit odd sometimes as is) but 2) also in the folder there should be a alpha which you wear also that will hide parts of your feet so that your shoes fit a bit better then sometimes they still dont always fit so: 3) We have to edit our shoes into position the easiest way to do this is to get a POSESTAND (is some free ones on the Marketplace so get one from there) 4) then we need to rez the posestand on the ground (drag drop from Inventory onto the ground) and then Sit on it. (if dont have a place to rez then search inworld for a REZ ZONE). The posestand will keep your avatar still, so you can zoom the viewer camera and edit your shoes 5) to Edit then right click on the shoes you are wearing. In the Edit dialog then can move the shoes into position editing can be a little bit frustrating when we first learning how to do it. But perserve tho and you will soon be a expert at it like everyone else

(: dont worry about it the good thing is that in raising this topic you started a discussion, to which others (incl. myself) have been able to contribute and also shows that you are on a journey of discovery advancing your knowledge and skills as you go. Thats really good. The willingness to undertake that journey and to also share what you are discovering along the way and for sure in undertaking journeys then we can get shoulder bumped sometimes to help point us in a direction we can think about taking i get shoulder bumped quite a lot myself on all kinda stuffs. And is all good. And if I ever did know everything about everything then I wouldnt have anything much to talk about (: + ps i got jelly'fied the other day on another thread on another topic on here . Was like: oh! man! I am so jelly about that but now I know what I never knew before about that. So now I get to have jelly as well as icecream for pudding (: (:
  12. Phil Deakins wrote: I've just been round a number of inworld stores that sell sex beds. Some are copy and some are not (and some are utter crap ) - probably slightly more copy than not, but only a little more, and one offered a choice, presumably with a price difference. It's probable that most of those that are sold in the marketplace are copyable, or it may be that the no-copy ones just happen to be near the top of search - unlikely but possible. a lot of whats happening is being lead by mesh modellers, where modelling is their core skill they buy builders packs of animations and also builder pack full-featured scripted pose systems. Which they then incorporate into their models also as well quite a few animators who do sell the packs are using mocap now. The mocap animation packs are not always cheap, however when the modellers do have them and are making a new product then they tend to load them up with the animations they have. Is no extra cost for them to do this also I see in some shops now 3 levels of animation. Can buy G model, M model, and A model G is no sexxors animations. M is gentle love + G. A is G + M + bit more hardcore. And the prices often reflect this when offered by the same vendor. G is cheaper than M which is cheaper than A. Basically nawti costs more
  13. Phil Deakins wrote: Would that type of thing be sold as copyable these days? yes in the house I am in at the mo I have a swing for upto 4 people. It has 86 animations in sets for singles, pairs and 3 and 4 group. Is copy and mod i have a hanging bed for upto 2 people, singles and doubles anims. 28 altogether. Copy and mod i have a shower. Again for 1 or 2 people. 20 anims. Copy and mod i have a dresser and stool. 8 anims. Copy and mod i have a lounger. for 1 or 2 people. 92 anims. Copy and mod i have a bean bag for 1 or 2 people. 14 anims. No-copy and no-mod. The only reason I have it is bc was given to me for free as a shop gift

  15. Phil Deakins wrote: Just to reiterate in different words - selling copyable furniture, at the normal price, is a ridiculous business idea. Why would anyone think that it's a good idea? I haven't seen anyone write a good reason for it, or any reason for it at all. the main reason is that is mostly only landlords who provide furnished accomodation who rez multiple copies of the same furniture inworld. The numbers of these landlords are quite few relative to private owners and renters of bare parcels most of the bare parcel home owners and renters also dont rez multiple copies of the same lounge suite or table in their house what people like tho is to have a inventory backup for the times when they accidentally delete or destroy a furniture they have rezzed inworld and there are lots of furniture makers who cater for these home owners/renters

  17. Malinda am not picking on you ok. Or on Maddy either. bc you both right in your own ways i just think that is important to add to the convo given our readership on this scripting forum and why people come here + learning how to use bitwise in our apps is well worth learning. There are times when this is really useful. Particularly when we start getting into logic programming constructs i give a snip example of logic programming using the tests scripts as a comparative integer glb_tog;default{ state_entry() { llListen(2, "", llGetOwner(), ""); } listen(integer c, string n, key i, string m) { // expects m to be in the range "0".."4" glb_tog = glb_tog ^ (1 << (integer)m); llOwnerSay( "Bit-flag" + m + " is toggled " + llList2String(["OFF","ON"], (glb_tog >> (integer)m) & 0x1) ); }} + is when we use logic programming in conjunction with relational bitwise storage that we start to get worthwhile gains when using imperative programming constructs (which most non-professional LSL/VB/C#/JS/etc scripters do use) then the benefits of bitwise storage for its own sake is pretty marginal. And can often reduce the readabilty of imperative programming codes considerably. Which confuses the junior coders and drives the seniors nuts (: the seniors go nuts bc we are mixing our imperatives in with our logics and functionals for no good reason at worst and marginal benefit at best, and the resulting mess of code often shows this. Cue Maddy in here (: + i suggest to anyone reading (who doesnt know already) to study up on and try grow your skills beyond imperative programming into both logic and functional programming when used appropriately the rewards of this can be quite considerable in the LSL runtime environment
  18. yes. I take your main point is often way overrated by some practitioners of this art. And even more overrated by some who hope to get some monetary advantage from it altho as you say, for the unaware on the receiving end, it could be, and is already in some cases, the overrating can be quite damaging in a cumulative sense + about wisdom i remember a while ago now Hamlet posted a upcoming inworld event. A talk about AI and what that might mean for humanity, and what if any, safeguards we might need to have or put in place so I thought I will go. And I did. bc I find this stuff quite interesting. The person who gave the talk was quite knowlegeable so was pretty good. The audience was quite a good mix as well. From philosophers to computer scientists, behavioural experts thru the simply curious lay people to a few singularists as well and the Q&A at the end reflected this, and was quite interesting overall. For me in these kinda forums then is more about what questions are asked, than is so much about what answers are given but anyways in the comments of the post a person who seemed to wish to promote the event made a kinda bold claim about where we are with AI and I went hmmm!. and I point them here: http://prize.hutter1.net/ then the person came back and basically went pffft!! thats not AI which was ok, until another person who should know better given who they actually are in the realworld, climbed in as well, and went pfftt !! also and I end up having to point out the blinking obvious the good thing tho was that the person who gave the talk did know their stuff, and was really interesting + eta: i change to the exact link for the hutter prize problem

Once we complete it then we dont get another a go it. Pretty much most people do complete it I find. And quite often I see new players running with the quest globes on + i love playing this game for its own sake. For sure I am always happy to take the little L$ rewards I do get. I find it quite soothing tho in itself. Just going round and round grinding it. Is quite relaxing for me to do

  22. ran into another viewer crasher on the realms. kaboom! oh! man and I think lets see how good you really are dude !! so anyways I relog bc I am crashed. I use the standard LL viewer out-the-box. So i change to my tuned viewer settings. And turn on my computer tunings as well. Bring it dude !! and he has another go at me. And big fat zero. And I shout: Good luck with your viewer crasher !! And he starts chucking alsorts at me. And i go: hehe loser !! and I get in front him and run the 2 crystal line leaving him the 1 crystal. (: he went bananas and then he resort to brash kicker. How sad is that ! jejejeje (: And now is 3-way combats is me and him and the puffers in the death match the first death match was a draw, we both made it to the next sim. I go: loser! in the chat and then run back on the arena he follows right and I start run the 2-crystal lines again. And he brash attack me again. And he was toooo slow and he got killed by the puffer and sent home. I am the winner !!! then about a few minutes later this other person came and I let them have the sim (:

  24. about big data i think that is not so much about what algos can find and tell us. Is more about what they cant tell us. At this time has been billions of dollars and hours spent on this. Yet what results we do get, in any general form, is not all that great. People ordinarily are aware of this and take it into account when looking for stuff on the internets. Searching MP is a simple case example, when see what the ordinary shopper has to say about this at times + the next thought is what Perrie is touch on. What can/could algos tell us, but the narrow interest of the holder of the data precludes us from knowing what that might be the narrow interest is not necessarily malicious or secretive, is just more that the big data holder cant see any value for themself (typically monetary but not always) in what could be known i dont think that Alphabet/Google or Microsoft/Bing have reached this point yet. They might one day in the future, but I would personally bet that they dont i bet that the algos never reach the point where they produce so much relevant information that the big data holder has the luxury to pick and choose what is relevant and what is not, from the list of all relevant things + for sure software can deliver a list of relevance even now today. However a quick look at the list by any pretty much ordinary everyday user can attest to how relevant the items on the list are, to them is a long way yet to go on this I think before the luxury of relevant point is reached. If it ever will be aand I have doubts about it ever being reached unless there some massive breakthru. Probably non-silicon based I think that slices time and space into an order of what is relevant, and able to be viewed from many different perspectives simultaneously by a multitude of viewers which is basically: How many ways can a list be ordered
