I was wrong about privacy
Chris Corvinus replied to Chris Corvinus's topic in General Discussion Forum
They can, yes. Online trackers. -
I forgot about trackers! You can pay $229/mo for a full region from Linden Lab and still be on someone's tracker and harassed from their alts. So yes, privacy truly does not exist in Second Life. I think as a premium member, you should have the option to not be tracked at all.

How do you know they didn't read it? They could have and just gotten confused even more since their group problem wasn't even mentioned. Thing is, Second Life has this massive learning curve. The more you try to explain it, the more confusing it gets. Then on top of that you're being called a troll when all you wanna do is figure out why and how you're in a bunch of groups you have no interest in. Poor guy just wants to drive around in an animesh car.

There is and there isn't. Half are helping and half are thinking he's a troll. Some are being condescending in their "helpful" responses. And personally I think its a horrible idea to come here to the forums asking for help. He is obviously pretty lost. Whether or not he went through "orientation", we all know that doesn't help anybody new. All the info required to actually begin in SL is located here: And nobody just starting out is going to know this quickstart guide even exists. There is literally nothing about it before you create an account, download the client and log in for the first time. You're just expected to stumble upon it, I guess. Just like youre expected to stumble around SL until you "get it". Or do like most do and leave, delete, and never return.

This whole thread is why Linden Lab has issues retaining new people. Good grief....

Relax buddy, I’m not looking at your girlfriend!

I can show you once I find my giant turkey leg slapper. Also, you can just bump into avatars. (Well, you as a human being sitting behind the computer doesn't physically touch the avatar. Your avatar touches the avatar. You control the avatar touching the other avatar so in a sense, you're touching an avatar so that means you are, in fact, touching an avatar in this reality and you're not at all detached from it. It makes more sense in VR.) -

Alot of people don't understand comedy and I find that far more tragically sad than David's crosshair situation. Jesus. -
Sell me on SL as compared to up-and-coming offerings
Chris Corvinus replied to ethnya's topic in General Discussion Forum
The biggest issue SL has is lag. And it always will. Its just the way its built and there is no fixing it unless they tear it down and rebuild it. That won't happen either unless they create a way to import everyones inventory over but...that would also negate creating SL 2.0. -

Thats hilarious LOL. People are absolutely ridiculous. I mean, I have a 'look but dont touch' policy with my girl so....perv away with your crosshairs haha! I really only say something if youre actually in her box hitting her up to come to your place for "pictures" because youre a "photographer" and she should be totally naked (be more obvious, please).. In which case, I will troll you mercilessly for hours for my own amusement or until you block me. 😂 -
Posts like that happen all the time on forum sites. At least that one was deleted pretty quickly. Theres soooo many forums riddled with that and spam junk. This is by far one the cleanest forums ive been on.

What would be a good entry then that doesn't look better than the mesh bodies currently on the market? I did say the current default bodies needed an upgrade. First impressions will be visuals and ease of use...and ease of use has NEVER been Second Life's strong point. The UI has always been atrocious and a mess. Second Life has always had retention problems because it simply has an identity problem. Nobody outside knows what it even is. Is it a game? A virtual world? They come in and have no idea what to even do. They have problems rezzing (blurryness), the world looks like something from the early 2000's. Are they supposed to talk to other people? Build with prims? (they dont even know how because theres no tutorials they can find immediately). Its like using photoshop for the very first time, youre not going to know what anything is. It goes far beyond the avatar when addressing retention numbers. I think the first thing Linden Lab needs to do is figure out exactly what Second Life is and start selling it as that.

It's totally normal for LL to screw up rolling restarts. They need maintenance for the maintenance.

Saturation -- Too many events -- Survey of sorts
Chris Corvinus replied to Chic Aeon's topic in General Discussion Forum
Neither the seller nor the buyers are doing anything about oversaturation in the market and that's because nobody wants to regulate. Everyone is fine just complaining about it. There is zero self regulation in the SL market. Have you seen what is done to those who copybot and steal and sell others work? Nothing. And its super rare when something is done. And copybot items are in extreme abundance and people still buy them because buyers don't care. The market here is mostly comprised of items that were bought from a full perm creator and rehashed over and over and over from different stores. That's why you see the same thing in different textures at events. Rarely is anything actually new. I've personally seen quite a few at big events. What Second Life has is an unregulated free market economy. Period. -

We talking about too many shopping events, not feminism. Both of you stop it and stay on topic. I like this thread and don't wanna see it closed. -

I highly doubt it. Might see more new events tho. Dollholic just came out so that's 1 😂 -

Honestly, everything in Dollholic can easily just be thrown into Kinky Event. There's zero need to create another event for that. -

Even a free market is self regulated. It just doesn't exist in SL which is why there's problems with over saturation.
