  1. Forum marketing? There would need to be two subforums, to keep it honest. 1. Stuff that definitely won't migrate to SL:TNG 2. Stuff that probably won't migrate to SL:TNG
  2. Is it a good time now to remember the start of World War I a century ago? In which more horses were killed than women. And considerably more men died.
  3. Phil Deakins wrote: I still believe that NZ threw that race intentionally, and not through complacency. I think more to the point is that the US team, with or without any supposed New Zealand leadership, were a bunch of losers until they employed Ben Ainslie (English) as " tactician". After which the "real" NZ team got stomped.
  4. Scylla Rhiadra wrote: And it would take a very special kind of cynicism to imagine that she deliberately provoked vile and often frightening responses from the more misogynist elements of the gaming community merely to capitalize on them. Naive much? Both yourself and her. And anybody reading who might agree with you (I edited out the phrase in your post that made neither grammatical nor logical sense.)
  5. Scylla Rhiadra wrote: Feminists != humour. Right?) If you say so. Viewed slightly differently, I did once win a bottle of champagne from The Sunday Times because they claimed that there were no jokes about lesbians or economists, so I offered them enough that they ran them in their Business Section for a couple of weeks. In the third week they printed a letter pointing out that the competition was flawed, and should have been based on the premise that there were no good jokes . . . (I used an alt for the latter letter.)

  8. There is no such thing as a hardware ban. It would be stupid to believe there was, and even more stupid to admit in public that you had such a belief. I am not sure, however, in which category you wish to be classified. Might I also point you in the direction of Robert Heinlein's oeuvre, which might offer you some enlightenment on my chosen name. His SF is much more credible than the fantasies espoused in the bible, to one of which I presume you refer.
  9. Since it's already Friday on one of those islands just off New Zealand that time forgot - actually, the whole time zone is still in 1974; dig those loon pants - I thought I would initiate a deep and meaningless general discussion regarding annoyances! (The exclamation mark is compulsory.) So . . . in what order (1=most annoying, 2 = almost as annoying, 3=still extremely annoying, 4=annoyingly stupid) would you place the following. 1. People who are paid to be annoying. 2. People who are not paid to be annoying but do it intentionally because they enjoy being annoying 3. People who are annoying without realising they are being annoying. My own order would be 312. Note that this is very relevant to Second Life, Linden Lab and these forums in particular.
  10. There are two types of stupid people. 1. Those that are obviously stupid. 2. Those that try to pretend to be stupid in a vain attempt to convince others they are not.
  11. Scylla Rhiadra wrote Maybe Sy thought that I actually *was* Anita Sarkheesian? I doubt that Sy confused you with another self-serving sufferer of victim syndrome, if only because Sarkheesian has no sense of humour. Even if your own was principally demonstrated by using a male alt.

Unless, of course, Norway became a French departement when I wasn't looking . .. welcome to the making stuff up thread (: here you can learn all about stuff that is not true. That you never knew before or ever imagined could be so not true. Why? bc. Why bc? Just bc. Just bc why? Just bc we got nothing better to right now can have as many goes as you like ok. The more imaginative the story the better (or worse as you like). For better or worse try to include at least one indisputable unfact ok. Otherwise people might get confused. Which for some people is their natural condition so they are fine others tho they not so confused before they start. and they sometime struggle when they do get confused. So we need be mindful of them ok like they might have to go and have a liedown. bc they now so confused that their brains hurt and in danger of melting. Something they not have much experience at. Well not yet anyways. When they get to the end of this post then they will (hopefully or hopelessly even) have lots of experience by then. Even if they still sometimes have to go and have a lie down afterwards. If they havent gone already + you doing great tho your story is the most untrue so far I get it - you live on the underneath part of Earth and because you are upside down all the blood drains into your brain and stops it working. Or maybe you are unintentionally demonstrating the well-documented inability of certain genetic groups to cope with alcohol.
  14. As an aside, you know what big feet REALLY means? Big Shoes!

  18. Actually, the flashing isn't an erroneous artefact caused by partial driver incompatibility; it's an entirely accurate reflection of the virtual world's environment. It's the vigiSLantes bombing Ebbe's home sim because they are annoyed at not being able to migrate most of their stuff to SL:TNG.

  21. Whereas LL signally fail to do so in respect of mortals - admittedly long-lifed ones . . .
  22. I had my say some time ago about sexism in gaming (girls shouldn't wear pink fluffy headsets if they want to be taken seriously) but when I discovered that authoress Jennifer Egan, the self-publicist instigator of the "Everyday Sexism" movement, was an alumna of my old college I almost returned my degree and asked for my money back. Almost, because my MA only cost two guineas - at a time when they didn't allow women to study there.
  23. This thread demonstrates why I don't ride buses any more. Apparently I have the kind of mien that attracts "care in the community" types who want to sit down besides me and tell me when, how long and what colour their first bowel movement of the day was. And then there's the crazy lady who exudes the funny, fishy smell, who sits behind me and tuts at everything and runs over everybody's feet with her shopping trolley when she struggles off, complaining that the bus used to stop much closer to the shops. Plus the retired corpulently balding gent who is still wearing the fair isle sleeveless sweater his mother bought him the Christmas before she died, just after the Queen's 25th Jubilee, and who insists on telling the asbo-flaunting posse that they shouldn't be putting their feet on the seats. Then there are the two furtive straggly-bearded semi-anorexics up at the front discussing something incomprehensible in broken English, because they are inextricably linked by being illegal immigrants from countries on different continents which speak completely different languages. Inter alia.
  24. In answer to your question: Lots. But stupidity is the main problem. As conspicuously demonstrated throughout these forums.
