My oh my, when that pendulum swings. ... the Scots, who will doubtless take their local landslide as approval to secede from the UK, thereby sparking an internal banking crisis as the new Scottish currency loses parity immediately against the Pound Sterling, Rumor has it the new currency will be trading as bitcoin. You can bet on it! Of course, the other main winners will be the English, who will cut off those moaning northern ninnies, who don't seem to have noticed that their recent comparative affluence was a result of North Sea Oil and Gas, the flow of which has now almost completely dried up. This model worked perfectly well for the Greeks. Pretty soon every nation in the EU will be looking for a handout from the Brits, Germans and French fries. Me? I gave at the office. If only there was an equivalent of the San Andreas fault along Hadrian's wall, so Wales could float off towards the Atlantic, and apply for membership of the USA. Welcomes his Welsh friends. I'll have a Martini ready. I realise that the globally dispersed participants of SL's forums are probably as disinterested as I am in British politics, but I thought I would update you so you might appear to be informed next time you venture out into the real world and come across a potential mate who has wasted their university time studying International Relations. If this post is useful, I am happy to accept contributions to the "Don't Vote - It Only Encourages Them" movement Politics, and especially British politics interest me. Jeez, it was only 70 years ago the British ruled the world! .

Now if it was written as: "Chaos is no more than a few posts away . . . ." perhaps I would have better understood.
  4. Bree Giffen wrote: I only have one issue with your describing SL as free to play and pay to win. SL is free to play. I agree. It is not pay to win. Pay to win games are games where you must pay to get ahead and actually win. E.g. buying items that make you fast or make your weapons stronger so you can kill your enemy and win a match. If a game offers only cosmetic items, e.g. color your weapon pink, that do not give you a winning advantage, then it is not pay to win. Ergo, SL is not pay to win. But the rest was pretty good stuff. I agree.

[Whatever - M Houellebecq. Translated from the original French, which may account for it being a bit weird.] PS Houellebecq advocated the use of mathematical problems in literature. So maybe it's not necessarily the translation that is weird. I quote the above only because I want to re-read while I type my response. I need more time to digest the meaning, the intent, and then the French way. It's a difficult OP for me and I need time to think through a response, I need to learn the players. So I am off to the bookstore. PS Once again my ignorance is on display.

Everything that happens in SL happens in RL (except for the real stuff like violence, sneezing, breathing, death, cheating in relationships, and I can go on and on). -- I hate the period on the outside, but I digress. When not enjoying the art of SL, then SL is words. Whether they are typed in German or English or French - SL is words. And just like the art, It's how we comprehend the words is the culture of SL. PS I can always forgive a TOR user for lacking format in their post. Just sayin.

  12. Celestiall Nightfire wrote: Forgot to add: If you're using wi-fi, that is harder to run SL. (wireless) Make sure (or try) to get your computer cable connected. Yes, it's better to be tethered, but SL and wifi doesn't have to be so difficult. Sure, it's all about the bandwidth you pay for and a good, well configured router. Simple configs to router settings can exponentially increase wifi performance. One example is either configure or disable QoS. Most would not know how to configure so the next best thing is to disable your Internet providers default configuration (because of course they want to throttle your streams.) PS And sometimes even some edits to the viewer e.g., bandwidth totals helps increase performance - even over wifi.
  13. NO Terse and crisp. Directly to the point. No punctuation (extra keystrokes) because it's just not needed; a no is a no. Ergo, perfectly written English. A well crafted post.

Even SL furries don't endorse this kind of madness. This happens every day in SL. In SL some adopt human adult avatars and put them in a diaper. The second line above was a FIFY. And lastly, seriously? They're SL furries for crying out loud; the absolute definition of madness, imho.

My dear friend Storm (no relation to you, I'm sure) once asked me the same question. I told him if you have nothing to write then fabricate stuff. In other words make up stories. IT'S THE INTERNET! And confidentially speaking, he did. PS I suggest you get your writing skills in order if you want people to read.

If that's true there's no reason SL should be such a bandwidth hog as to not allow anything else to run well. There is nothing about SL that can knock your modem offline, to the best of my knowledge. Hi Dillon Did I ever tell you I love when you techie talk. I really do. Even when you don't know what you're talking about. PS You will never earn a helper pin that way.

  20. When I read your posts I feel like I am reading the (London) Times crossword puzzle trying my hardest to understand the slang - failing miserably. But it's a fun read
  21. bobparaclete wrote: Ah, good Herald. So nice to see you once again. I did hear your trump and did in great haste make my way to see what what has alarmed you so. And what do we have here? Randall? What Randall makes you think simply posting a picture would make one a fascist? It is a perfectly innocent picture of a section here set aside to ask questions and for others to provide answers. Someone posting that is presumed to be a fascist? How do you come to that conclusion? Do you find that road signs or billboards are fascist representations? Do communist or democratic countries not have those? What are you seeing that others do not? What is glaringly obvious from your post is your propensity to make value judgements without the least amount of thought. Are you suggesting that the picture alone carries some emotional valence that is imperceptable to most others? Are you certain those value judgements are not the product of your own psyche? Perchance you are projecting? What else could explain your reaction to the posting of such an innocuous picture. Some may even believe it to be helpful to others unfamiliar with the site, directing them to the proper area to gain knowledge from posing their questions. You must let the hate and the anger you hold close to your heart go. Be at peace, Prepare for the Day. And now good Herald, take up thy horn and blow something from The Master to ease sullen hearts. Heavy stuff, brother. You need the 'light' more than I. Ask for the light. . .

  23. I can not tell you how much I appreciate the depth of your humor and knowledge on a topic for which I have so much passion. I like to laugh at myself and my industry. Thank you.
