  1. Pet peeve: having to remove a load of posts discussing a locked thread.

Please don't.  It's against the forum guidelines:

Sure it's not those products from a supermarket somewhere in SL?

Long ago I seen someone build a great SL version of a Kroger's store.

It would certainly be on-topic for a thread about SL supermarkets or reproductions of First Life stores,  but I struggle to see how it would be on topic for a thread about Have the forums changed?

  3. Judging by the number of reports that have been submitted about particular posts in this thread, tempers seem to be becoming rather frayed.   I haven't seen anything that seemed to me to be worth removing, but please everyone bear in mind before posting that others may take some remarks more harshly than they were indended.

Also, I think the topic was fanboys and fangirls, not social justice warriors,

The only really good mole work in my opinion is that of professional, well known content creators who LL hired for specific projects in places like Belli.

While the team has certainly expanded while we've been working on Bellisseria to cope with the extra workload, Many of us involved were, I think, Moles before that project started (including Ancient and Magic, who've made most of the houses, for which Dyna and I do the scripting).   I can't think of anyone who was hired specifically to work on Bellisseria and nothing else.

  5. Folks, while I confess I've not been following this thread in detail, I struggle to see how a detailed discussion of the OP's SL relationships and sex life are on topic for a thread entitled How Does Your SL Look Today?, which is why I've just had to delete rather a lot of posts.

Please, let's stick to the general topic, and try to avoid this turning into a vanity thread or someone's blog.

  6. Whether or not the the Motown radio HUD or the Motown Styngs* are available in a particular country is determined not by Linden Lab but by Styngr, the company which licences the Styngs and which has agreements and licencing with Motown that determine the countries to which the tracks may be streamed.

The music is streamed from Styngr's servers, not those of Linden Lab (which is why we have to use shared media).  Styngr's servers will not stream the tracks unless the IP address to which they're being streamed is on a list of countries to which Styngr is licenced to stream them.

Linden Lab is not involved in this.

*Styngs are gesture-like sound clips, licenced by Motown, delivered by shared media, with custom animations.

  7. Don't forget that there are the known unknowns of future themes we're working on but for which we haven't yet started to build regions , and the unknown unknowns of what comes after those (several possibilities are under discussion, but no decision has yet been made).

They will all have to go somewhere.

  8. Your friend should certainly AR the person concerned for Harassment.    There's no need for her to provide transcripts -- governance can find those on the server logs -- but it would help them if she were to  check her chat logs, if possible, to provide dates and times.

In answer to the specific question, the Linden Lab Official:Residents' privacy rights say, among other things,

    Quote

Sharing or posting a conversation inworld or in the Second Life forums without consent of all involved Residents is a violation of the Terms of Service.

NOTE: This does not include posting of chat to social media sites or other websites. Posting such logs on web pages, emailing them, or printing them out and posting them on utility poles in the "real world" -- are all actions beyond the scope of the Second Life Terms of Service. ; while that might be illegal, but those laws must be enforced by the proper law enforcement agencies.

"Conversation" means text that originally came from Second Life chat or Second Life instant messages. If it's totally unattributed, then it isn't considered disclosure. Additionally, Residents are not punished for sharing or posting a comment such as "Bob Resident said, 'You're the greatest!'"

Like yeah, no. I along with a slew of others don't do hunts. Just finding some Saturday sale items is enough of a hunt even with Area Search. Without it, I would like not even bother to look unless it is right there at the entrance. I swear some Store owners seem to think that putting out sale items should be a hunt so you pass by all the other items they have available.

While I think a discussion about both the advantages of Region Search and  the objections to what @Coffee Pancakecalls "firestorms brute force kick the crap out of the region approach"  would be very valuable, I think it would better held in its own thread.

When we locate an object, can we click on it and move it? For a rug, it would be moved up.

But I will not derail the thread more. I can try it, if I remember when I log in next time...

Since you raise the question, I'll answer it: yes -- find the object using Pathfinding>Region Objects, open the edit window (CTRL 3), and select your object in the Region Objects window.   Then you should be able to edit it (there are some distance restrictions that I can never remember, but if you're looking for stuff you've buried in a wall or under the floor you should be good).   Or you can use the buttons in the Region Objects window to take it back into your inventory, or return it to yourself, without needing the edit window.

But  you're right, let's try to stick to the mentorship programme rather than discussions about viewers.

If I was in the house next to them and they IM'd me to ask how they find the rug, I would start to talk about how I do area search in Firestorm, and we would run into problems. Because they can not find what I suggest for them.

When residents of Bellisseria ask me that question I refer them to Build>Pathfinding>Region Objects.   Works in both the Official Viewer and Firestorm, and has the advantage that it shows only objects that you can return, which is generally what you need when you've lost something.
