Yes, they have.

I hope this is the right place to open this topic.
I don't know how SL is different from other virtual worlds out there. But there are games like VRchat that gives the player an option of a house to return to.
In SL everything costs money (a lot of money) and in-game currency is not really a thing, unless you have a job or successful business.
Since my first day in SL I don't understand why we didn't get a private place that we could call home. A place to rezz things in instead of looking for a sandbox. Change clothes, work on our shape freely instead of looking for an empty place to do so. And so on. The minimum is to get a completely empty place, not necessarily a furnished house. Just a place that will only be yours.
Why do you think free houses don't exist in SL?You can use the private changing rooms at the Welcome HUB
http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/WelcomeHub/81/145/25
and the Welcome HUB sandbox at

I think we need to add a new rule to the forum guidelines.
Better?

I'm locking this thread because the question has been answered. I've left it up because both the question and replies apply equally to Second Life (and it became clear that the question was about Open Sim only at the end) but please note that posts about other grids are off topic for these forums.

Using this thread to try to re-open a discussion that led to another thread being removed would be an absolutely terrible idea.
Please remember that the Forum Participation Guidelines prohibit
QuoteAbuse of Moderation or Moderators: Moderation decisions are made to provide you with a productive environment for conversations about Second Life. We understand that sometimes those decisions may not be the popular one, but we ask that you understand the moderation decisions are always made with the best of intentions for the community. We prohibit
abuse of our moderation process, including the following:
- Posts that discuss or re-post material that has been removed or locked by a moderator
- Posts questioning a moderator’s decision
- Posts that discuss the status of any Resident account (e.g., on hold, suspended, etc.)

I'm locking this thread because it's pretty obvious that the resident was the victim of a scam by another resident, and I think everything that could usefully be said on the matter has now been said.
I can only add the advice provided in Linden Lab Official:Scams:
QuoteInworld vendor scams
Unscrupulous Residents can sometimes steal your Linden dollars by placing invisible prims over a scripted vending object, or by interfering with the data being passed between scripted objects. Report any such activity as abuse. See Filing an abuse report.
In cases where someone not involved in a deal intercepts payments, or causes a script to make fraudulent payments, Linden Lab will attempt to identify the abuser, and apply discipline as appropriate.
Separately, Linden Lab may be able to recover some or all lost Linden dollars, and return them to the correct Residents. Any restitution depends primarily on the recovery of lost Linden dollars from the abuser's account.

Please remember that, if you feel you really must draw attention to what you see is the failings in other posters' character or personality as revealed by their comments, even indirectly, you should do it in personal messages or in-world IMs, not in public posts in the forums.

It does start first thing on the morning of Thursday October 12. Because of a snafu, the message the buckets say when they're touched didn't get updated when we finalized the start time.
That's now fixed, and all buckets rezzed from now on will say the correct message, "It’s The Great Trick or Treat Event, Bellisseria!" does not start until October 12 2023.
If you have already rezzed a bucket, then delete it and rez a new one. Otherwise, the bucket will correct the message itself over the next few days.
Sorry for the confusion.

So basically, once the thread becomes a burden to the server due to its enormous size, that will be the end of it.
No one really listens and no one cares about the damage done. I never should have gotten comfortable in the only place I have to communicate with others. Story of my life. I've never believed in fate before but now I am starting to wonder if it isn't my fate to be alone and without any meaningful human contact for life.
Crap. What a waste.
The Linden Lab Official:Forum Participation Guidelines say
QuoteNo Discussions Not Directly Related to Second Life: Please keep all threads relevant and directly related to Second Life and Linden Lab. Anything unrelated to Second Life is subject to moderation. This includes, but is not limited to, politics, social issues, current events, and Non-SL discussion posts (Examples such as tell me a joke, make me laugh, etc). If the thread could exist on a non-Second Life Forum, that is probably a good sign it doesn’t belong here.
Note: Posts made before 7/29/2022 will be left open unless policy violations cause them to be closed.
I have no idea what will happen if "the thread becomes a burden to the server due to its enormous size," or when , or even if, that is likely to be an issue.
What I do know, and what Dyna and I are both doing our best to make sure doesn't happen, is that if grandfathered threads, like this one, get closed down for policy violations, it won't be possible to reopen them That's what worries me.
What happens if the thread becomes so large it gives the server indigestion is another question, and one to which we haven't been given an answer, but I'd like to think that the thread will survive long enough for that to become a real rather than an hypothetical question.

Please, let's stick to SL with this discussion and not get sidetracked into discussions of incels or trans-non binary in First Life.

As Sid says, discussion of political and religious topics is off-topic for this forum. Turning this thread into a vehicle for them is likely to get the whole thread closed.
Please bear this in mind. If this thread does get locked, it won't be possible to start a new one.

Why not send the LM or s slurl to the OP in-world?

The resident who started this thread says she's looking for Jewish Faith Creators in SL.
Please restrict the discussion to ways she may find them. Discussions of her motives, or of religion in general, are not on topic.

I was VERY careful not to dislose whose alt the reporter to you mods obviously was. It is a trouble causer, pure and simple. But it is not Luna and as Luna has left the forums it is only fair to discount her.
You quoted a post that I had to hide, so I removed yours because, had I left it there on its own, with your quote of the hidden post redacted, it wouldn't have made a great deal of sense.

Gentle reminder that
QuoteDisclosure: Sharing personal information of any kind about another Resident is not allowed anywhere in Second Life. This includes, but is not limited to, sharing one’s real-world identity, location (beyond what is provided by them in their user profile), contact information, private text conversations (chat, IM, email), and alternate account names.
This includes speculating about who may or may not be whose alt.
Please don't do it.

Dyna has had to go to attend to First Life for a bit and has left me minding the store.
To reiterate what she said, this thread really is teetering on the brink.
If people really must pursue arguments about whether particular terms are justified or not, they should do it in personal messages or IMs in world or somewhere other than this forum.

Gentle reminder not to let the thread drift off into a discussion of First Life lotteries, contests and so on.

I think it would be preferable to confine this discussion to SL and Linden Lab rather than allowing it to become a broader discussion of San Francisco in particular or US cities in general.

Can we talk about creepy food though? hehe....j/k
We're not looking for reasons to close the thread but when people report posts, we have to act on them, and after the proportion of noise to signal gets consistently too high (or we get tired of cleaning things up) threads get locked.

Enjoyable though food derails certainly are, I think it's a bit too soon since the previous one to start another, unless it's a way of indicating that people are bored with the notional subject of the thread and want it closing.

So I am into the findom fetish, and if I use rlv to take money from someone then they regret it can I be in trouble?
in Linden Dollars (L$)
Posted
A scripted object belonging to you can take money out of your account and give it to someone else if you rez it and grant it debit permissions. It can't, though, check your L$ balance, either with regular LSL or with RLV. Neither experience permissions nor RLV can automatically grant debit permissions to a script -- they have to be granted manually, by clicking OK in the big scary debit permissions dialog box.
Once an object has debit permissions it could drain your account very rapidly, using a method I won't spell out but which will readily occur to most scripters, which is why you should never grant debit permissions to an object someone else gives you unless you're very sure you trust them, but it can't check your L$ balance and remove the lot in one go.
If the person who'd given you the L$ filed an abuse report, the Governance Team would investigate the matter. The outcome -- and consequences for for you, if any -- would, I assume, depend on the specific circumstances surrounding the case.
I'm locking the thread, since the question has been answered and because tempers seem to be getting frayed.
