  1. The curious thing for me is the premium gift remains physical, doesn't attach and yet goes to zero land impact against the sim when you sit on it. Oh wow! I'll check that as soon as I can get back inworld. But... if we sit on it, we become attached to it. Anyway, thanks for the info. I wonder if all vehicles creators are doing it wrong, though...
  2. @Wolfen Greggan @nikita Jefferson Please, please, if the issue persists, write your experience on the comments of my JIRA at https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/BUG-6735
  3. Really? I was trying not to complicate things and mention a very old bug that's an exception arising only when crossing a sim boundary directly into a parcel without enough prims. That's supposed to be the only case where the recipient sim will (usually) return the vehicle before it realizes it's a sat-upon vehicle. So if you're seeing that, yeah, sorry; I omitted it on purpose, but that may have been a mistake. If, on the other hand, you're seeing other occasions where sat-upon vehicles are returned (or generate that funky "cannot enter parcel" message) not involving sim crossings, then those may need new jiras. It is definitely not supposed to work that way. Sorry, Qie, I know you usually are well informed, but you may be wrong this time. Vehicles do count on parcels. I've been testing that on different parcels and sims, and each time a vehicle set physical (with someone sat on it, of course) enters them, the number of prims available is reduced by the count of the vehicle's LI. Maybe it is a bug, but then it is present all over... Maybe it isn't, and that's just the way things work. If you have nothing more interesting to do, you can check that sometime. But I did test it using both sailboats and an helicopter.
  4. This is good news Dunno... Attention is all a troll wants and needs, even if it it's a kick. :smileywink:
  5. You all just gave him what he was looking for. :smileyvery-happy:
  6. I sure will, Caleb, thanks for your concern. All seems to be OK now.
  7. As of 10:20am SLT I am recieving "Unable to Connect to Simulator" Login Error messages. Right now I am assuming this is caused by ongoing maintenance but I was able to log in yesterday without any problem. I have tried my last location and home location and its the same deal. Is this really due to maintenance because the SL Grid Status post doesn't mention login issues as one of the expected problems? Edit: Nevermind it seems to have been a case of I just had to keep trying. Though it did take me about 12 tries before I finally got in. I do believe it was due to the maintenance, yes. I had the same issue and it went away even before the maintenance finished. And this time I couldn't login with any of my two accounts, which was something different than the issue that made me start this thread and file a JIRA. All seems to be OK now. I've been logging in/out and in again without problems.
  8. My login fails today (for the last 1/2 hour or more). I have this problem intermittently. Please write about your experience in the comments of the JIRA I filed (https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/BUG-6735) or create your own. Not sure if your problem has the same origin or even if you get the same error message, since you didn't provide any info besides your login is failing.
  9. Now, that's something I would vote for, but L$50,000 sounds a bit excessive. Do you remember the ridiculous L$10 prize for all those who would login on a certain day a bit more than one year ago? So, I'd be happy with L$5,000, but of course the overall would be a lot of fake money (L$) that could be converted later to a real currency — at least, part of it. And considering the total number of premium accounts, that might hurt LL a tiny bit...
  10. It ain't gonna happen, so better find something else to vote for. :matte-motes-wink:
  11. Thanks, Qie, I always assumed that was normal and not a bug. But I'll watch for those from now on.
  12. Usually you get a "Parcel is full, can not enter parcel" warning. Exactly, Perrie, the same has happened to me too many times. Qie Niangao wrote "once you sit on it the Land Impact doesn't matter anymore. (That is, sat-upon objects do not count against the same 15,000 prim limit per sim, nor parcel limits.)" but my experience tells me something entirely different.
  13. A flat, 2-d image of the ship, inside a bottle with a bit of sand. LI is 27! Given its size, with proper LOD control on the mesh model, it really should not be more than 2 or 3. I can't concieve of uploading such a resource hog, if I wanted to build a similar ship in a bottle. The thing is, the Lindens don't know what prims limitation is. And, of course, they'd love that us all would buy more land from them so we could rez that thing.. er... airship. Which once more shows that at least for some of them their concerns about our user experience is just blah.
  14. I don't think that any creators/merchants left SL to go to other grids I know a couple who did. One is an art creator and the other is a builder (Koshari Mahana - http://kosharimahana.blogspot.com — I have a couple of her buildings I purchased before I started building.)
  15. I have read about a lot of issues involved on it like they delete you or block your account that make me think twice Are you thinking about giving LL any reasons to block your account? If you are, you shouldn't even be in SL. If you're not, then enjoy your premium membership, and I even recommend that you upgrade to an annual one.
  16. If you consider LL's gift as competition for you, then you must be thinking in terms of selling your airships. You may now have 5 sims and half a million prims to work with on another grid, but what you won't have are customers. You can make the best airships ever but if none of the 12 people who populate the grid you're on want to buy it, you're sunk. I'm exagerating about 12 people, of course, but I think it makes the point. That's right, Phil. I believe that those creators/merchants who left SL to another grid will be back sooner or later (sooner, most probably) or will be out of business. All those grids I checked are so poorly populated that I didn't even bother to create an account and peek into them to see how it is there. Also, it's easy to rant about SL's technical issues, but I'm sure other grids have similar problems, while not having the same level of features, and by far not the same population. SL is way the best grid there is, but that doesn't mean it couldn't — and shouldn't — be better. Of course the Lab is aware of this, and that's why they keep working to improve it. Still, some decisions like this silly premium gift are highly questionable, in this case under a premium member's perspective...
  17. Oh, yes, that's a perspective I can agree with. But, as someone pointed earlier in this thread, the thing is, they could have thought of something that would give real value to premium memberships and wouldn't make existing premium members feel kinda insulted. The Lindy airplane is crappy flying, but at least it is low prim and pretty. The Christmas set... well, parts of it can also be used without much impact on one's parcel. But this airship... almost made me speechless when I rezzed it. As for flying it over the Blake Sea... (grinning here) I just hope someone, sometime, comes up with the idea of setting a race there for these airships.
  18. I'm not going to pay LL to compeat with free stuff Do you really think that... thing... can compete with any decent airship? Kelli is right — it can't be considered competition. Actually, I'm still trying to find out what it can be considered as... But I can say this: it's kinda offensive that LL believes anyone would spend 502 prims (or more, if flying) to have that rezzed over their land.
  19. You're welcome. The main problem is that airplanes are a bit too fast for the open spaces available, but helicopters are just fine. Anyway, if you keep flying over water, I'm sure you can do it for hours. :matte-motes-sunglasses-1:
  20. so i decided lets try the big on at the corner of 4 sims Sim corners are never a good idea for any vehicle, so it's amazing you didn't have a really nasty crash and get "ghosted" there... But then you've been trying it at low busy sims, right? The best way to cross sims is doing it perpendicular to the border (90 degrees) or else the region may not be able to perfom the hand-off in a fashionable time/way.
  21. (how big is it size wise? that picture makes it look massive) It is, well... BIG. The picture shows it rezzed at a premium sandbox. That thing hits a sim border it's going to explode Only unaware people (if anyone at all besides the Lindens) will try that, I believe...
  22. I'm thinking about using it for a party set of my club... at a sandbox. :smileyvery-happy:
  23. They could have at least again given us something that was edible. Now you're talking! :smileyvery-happy:
  24. The new Premium gift — the Linden Marauder airship — is 502 LI when moored and 571 LI when it becomes physical. Is it a bad joke?
  25. You can try the whole Blake Sea, for example. In most cases, where there is water there is space free of ban lines. Again, as a mere example, you can take-off from here: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Honah Lee Trudeau/97/132/21. If you fly N/NE, you'll find the Hollywood airport (http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Santa Catalina/67/232/21)
