  1. See, I've been here almost 9 years and never knew that! Okay I've heard something about collada but I never bothered exploring that... well damn, now I learned something new! Or at least learned there's something else for me to play with. It's good to have alternatives! Thanks @Trinity Aironaut! 😲👍😁
  2. Thank you @Chic Aeon and @Selene Gregoire. Much appreciated.
  3. @Alyona Su; so is that a zipline shown in the left hand side background of the picture there? As much as I'd love to log in to explore I'll wait and be amazed when it's officially released; just curious.
  4. Keep trying. As horribly disheartening as it is to hear others are grabbing them, I'd expect today and tomorrow we're likely to see an influx of more abandons (or at least an increase in them compared to what we usually see). So keep refreshing and don't lose hope. If you don't catch an abandon you may have better luck when the campers go live, whenever that will actually be.
  5. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays have always seen the most abandons (for me, anyway) but now word is catching on that the campers are being moved over I'd imagine there will be more than usual over the next day or so at least as folks who wish to grab one prepare themselves. 🤔
  6. Yes. He updated it regarding giving notice for the Squishy Pickle release. Stands to reason that's where the notice will be for campers too.
  7. Exactly. Region releases aren't part of the "official" release process, meaning only that we don't get warning as to when they are likely to be released. They happen when they happen. But for larger-scale releases, that is with several regions at once or many (sometimes hundreds?) of homes/boats as the original LH release and Squishy Pickle there was some prior warning. I think from memory 24-48 hours warning before release. So it pays to watch that official update thread especially as we get closer to the camper release. From Patch himself (first post of that thread):
  8. Look at that landscaping... dammit I was trying NOT to get a camper because I like my house prims... *shakes fist* Damn you LDPW! 😲❤️
  9. I don't know if others are seeing this but seem to be catching a lot more abandons now. I've caught two already (and tossed back). The micro-exodus has begun... 😏
  10. Are you asking why do people keep posting the link to that thread, or something else? Sorry if I misread the question. If its the former, that's the thread where @Patch Linden officially notifies us of updates regarding the releases, and there hasn't been an official release in a few months to notify us of so you won't see anything regarding it there - YET. But when he has something to say that is where he will say it. And as much as we like to laugh and joke that Patch and the LDPW are shady and love to play games and keep us guessing I trust that when they have something to say it's worth reading direct from the source. Getting facts from that thread is more reliable than all the speculation we Residents love sharing among ourselves. If you don't follow that thread you won't stay informed. That's why.
  11. Yep, spotted both a Trad and a house boat within minutes.
  12. If this has been answered, forgive me (and point me in the right direction by all means) but regarding the changing of names; I've been reading posts for a while now and getting a little confused with conflicting info or speculation (and my eyes are glazing over now. Can't see the proverbial forest for the trees me thinks). I understand that we will (eventually pay for and) get to choose last names from a selection but do we get to change first names too? What happens if someone picks the same first and last name as you; is that possible or is it a case of first come, first served? 🤔
  13. Watching this as we speak. Some "lighthearted" TV before bed. 😷
  14. I use Mesh Generator; you can buy it from the Marketplace here: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Mesh-Generator-Convert-Prim-into-Mesh/5445477 You build your object using prims, drag and drop the script provided into the object's root prim then use the Mesh Gen object to generate a .dae file to upload back into SL. That's the basic premise of it. It's relatively quick and easy to use when you get the hang of it, and though it is expensive to buy, uploads are cheap compared to similar products like Mesh Studio. If there was a way to bake materials as there are in Blender it would be perfect (for my uses at least).
  15. Yep, I know about the importing but I won't profess to saying I've mastered it yet. I know I can do better. At this point it's still easier and quicker for me to mesh straight in SL.
  16. Thanks @Matty Luminos! ❤️ (On first glimpse I thought that was Abnor Mole in the background there and you had one of his hands! 😲 At this point decides its probably safer not to ask 😆)
  17. Today I am pressing on with more of the Blender 2.8 tutorials. I spent the last week procrastinating and putting it off but as it's Monday now and the start of the week its time to knuckle down and get back into it... even if I'm at that stage where it almost feels like climb every mountain again. The good thing is I know more than I did this time last year or even this time last month; not that long ago I couldn't even build a cube beyond the default! So it's baby steps but progressive steps. I just wish I could wrap my head around UV mapping and unwrapping... ermaghad! 😫 EDIT: Added pic; this is where I'm at with the tutorials as of right now (just taking a break while I make a cup of tea). We're making a robot! Not really too interested in rigging (as will happen in later chapters) but learning to create shapes with loops and bridges instead of relying on default Shift+A shapes has been an eye-opener for this noob. It's time consuming, fiddly, and headache inducing but the end result is much more organic and polished looking as opposed to straight edges and again standard default shapes.
  18. Princess cruises (and having traveled on one for the first time ever at the start of the year I can say without hyperbole that these ships are amazing!) ❤️🚢
  19. Two Traditionals (or maybe the same one thrown back?) shown in the last minute or so if anyone wants to know. And fooey if you don't, I've said it anyway. It can't be unseeeeen! 🤭 And again just now. So that's 3 abandons spotted in the last 20 mins. Not bad really.
  20. The colours, the lighting, the composition; all of this is stunning! You're rocking a young Demi Moore look here. Can I ask where did you get the outfit because I think I absolutely needs it! (Not to help clean up the leaves though, sorry, I'll leave you to do that).
  21. Region releases happen during the week but without any officially set times. You can read back further in this thread to read the times that others have documented on past releases to perhaps give you some idea when the releases might happen, but the fact is no one knows for sure. A larger official release is happening but again we don't know when. If you haven't already, read this thread here and follow it to stay up to date when official releases are set to happen: If you want other information you might find some answers here: https://community.secondlife.com/forums/topic/441469-help-and-info-to-get-a-new-linden-home-or-try-to/ Good luck!
  22. I like the longer windows for the reasons @Elora Lunasea mentioned. Plus with avatar height discrepancies being what they are in SL taller windows (like the much-hated taller door ways) accommodate for more, depending on whether or not you actually intend on selling the add-on. If you are selling it I wouldn't worry about what to do with the space under the stairs and leave the space vacant for others to fill as they see fit. If this is for you and you're looking to fill the space without using too many prims, how about a corner utility room or corner pantry? The pantry itself doesn't need to be filled; a closed door gives the illusion of a room, but just like in real life we don't usually leave every door opened and rooms on display unless we're using it (or at least I don't. Can't speak for everyone of course). But if you did want to fill it you could still do so with relatively few prims by creating your own packaging or a few boxes on shelves for food packaging and cylinder prims for cans. Meshing them as part of a shelf will save you prims, and you can always rez one or two food clutter items amidst it and link to lower LI again as needed for full effect. Beneath the shelves have more taller boxes for vegetables; again they don't need to be anything more than solid shapes; you create the effect of bins and packaging with a few textures. It's pretty basic but doable in SL or in Blender. To my way of thinking a pantry or utility room could be in any corner, not just the center of the kitchen cabinets. Perhaps here in the bottom right you would have more space if you were move the center counters upwards a fraction closer to the wall/windows? That would help fill that empty space in the center of the kitchen instead of the standard table too if you don't want to have a larger table (or just feel you need to have one to fill the space), meaning you could turn the top left corner into a booth/nook area? Just thinking aloud is all.
