  1. I currently have the EVGA GTX 650ti card in my system right now. It can run dual monitors no problem. It is also a short two slot card so it will fit most cases. One thing you will want to make sure of, if you get the 650ti is a power supply that can run it. You will need atleast one rail(6 pin connector) to be rated at atleast 20 amps. For my power supply upgrade, I got an Antec 650 watt. Be sure to check the specs on the power supply. Would be better if it has more than 1 rail that both rails are over 20amps (My Antec is 23 and 20 amps). I got my video card at Best Buy - $199 on sale Antec Power supply was $65. After tax, I spent about $286 on just these two components. Anything more than the 650ti or the 660 is just overkill and not needed.
  2. Yes, they can read what you say unless they have muted/blocked you also. In Firestorm, they become a green cloud once you block them. You will look normal to them, again, unless they have muted/blocked you. For the idiots that I have had to mute, I also derender the cloud.
  3. Not to be a party pooper, but I have no family that is close and I can't travel 2000 miles to see them, so I just splurge on myself throughout the year. Some of my recent purchases have been: -EVGA GTX 650ti Graphics Card -new smartphone -lots of smaller items
  4. They don't like you, you apparently don't like them. SOLUTION IS SIMPLE! DO NOT GO BACK. Coming to the forums to whine and complain will get you no sympathy. As they pay the tier on their land(not you), it is their rules as long as they don't step over the LL ToS. They have a right to deny service to anyone, for whatever reason. Just like Walmart can kick you out of a store and ask you to not return. ETA: You can post what you said in IMs, that is in no way related to disclosure.
  5. Peggy Paperdoll wrote: My experience with threads from people with constant (and freguent) crashes and/or disconnects is their readiness to blame the problem on the Second Life servers (and/or the code that runs the servers), or the viewers. They all but refuse to even look at their system (and to a smaller degree, their ISP). Totally agree with that statement 100%
  6. I very seldom crash Czari. Just when sims go down and I am in that sim, same as you. That was in a later post that I had made on Page 1. Wieless connections are not good for SL. Even LL recommends that you not run wireless. Signal degredation is a issue with many wireless routers. This is just not limited to a particular viewer. You could run the offical SL viewer and the same stuff will happen. Any little bit of interference can cause you to lose connection for a split second that will cause your disconnection from SL. The possibilities are endless really as to what can cause a viewer to disconnect frequently. We just dont have the information from the OP to help her resolve the issue.
  7. I have no problems with Firestorm. I never crash unless the sim happens to crash. For me, Firestorm 4.3.1.31155 is very stable. I personally need to have HTTP Textures and HTTP Inventory turned off. My ISP hates those and when enabled, I get logged out frequently. 8. Try any number of viewers...Singularity, CoolVL, Exodus, Nirans(great graphics engire and looks beautiful but won't run on low end machines). Here is the link to the TPV Directory. What works best for you will likely not be the best for someone else. Third Party Viewer Directory Crashing is a part of SL. Try disabling HTTP Textures if you have it enabled, or turn it on if it is off.
  9. Log into this region: Kanin It is always quiet. If your inventory still won't load, trying typing like A into the search. That should help it along. Most avatars will not load and will appear as a cloud until the objects you are wearing are loaded into the inventory. Another thing to try is to turn off http textures. Some computers like it, others do not.
  10. My sentiments as well Griffin and Cade. Firestorm runs flawlessly on my system. I haven't touched Phoenix since the actual release of Firestorm. I won't be sad to see it go. Firestorm is definitely the wave of the future.
  11. You will have to wait for LL to do it. Very seldom will they ever come here to read these forums.
  12. Your run of the mill laptops generally are not very powerful for gaming, and most are barely usable for SL because of having integrated graphics, even if they are combined with the processor such as those in the i3 line of processors. You could have 2gb of video memory on one of those and it will still be slow with terrible framerates because everything is routed through the processor. If you wanted/needed a good laptop, you will need to buy a gaming laptop. Alienware is a well known brand that has been purchased by Dell. There is also the XPS line from Dell. This is a steep cost as you will likely be dropping $2000 or more for such a system that has a minimum 15" screen. An 11" screen is not feasible at all, so just steer clear of those. If that is not an option then you will more than likely need a desktop that you can upgrade the PSU, graphics card, RAM on.
  13. It seems this study is based on how we react after reading something from a brilliant scientist. The questions asked were basically along the same lines from pretest to posttest. Now look pretest and posttest scores. Did you score higher or lower on the posttest than you did on the pretest? If you sit back and give it a moment of thought, the science behind it is pretty solid, atleast IMHO.
  14. OMG OMG OMG!!!! Hilarious! Great laugh. Thanks guys and gals.
  15. Could take a look at Connors, Jpdsg, Zakar, Kauna, Sheep Door, Chronokit, !go!, Ispachi, Pixlights. The Men's Dept opens tomorrow for their December run. Lots of great stuff from awesome designers. ETA: I forgot to add this one....Scars
  16. It is still integrated graphics memory that pulls from system memory, which you so conviently forgot to mention. I will give you a suggestion tho. Give Phoenix a try. This is lighter than Firestorm. You will notice significant texture lag, and even more so in busy places. The HD3000 is just not made to run well in an environment such as SL.
  17. And that is all you will get because you have not posted any specs.RAM? Processor? What don't you get about that? Using a low end Vista laptop is really not all that feasible for SL. You will lag constantly and probably not even be able to move. Your graphics card is probably not supported. Here is what LL recommends: NVIDIA GeForce 6600 or better OR ATI Radeon 9500 or better OR Intel 945 chipset
  18. You could try any number of viewers, but this will come down to one thing. How it runs on your computer. There is no way that we can tell you. Try the Official SL Viewer or any of the number of Third Party Viewers.
  19. Recreate Firestorm's Bridge. Avatar >> Avatar Health >> Recreate LSL Bridge Make sure you are in a script enabled area otherwise it will not work. Then relog. Your friends should then show online.
  20. Why pay someone when you can find a gif making tutorial on the web. Do it yourself and save the idiotic prices that people charge.
  21. Linda Brynner wrote: Actually, i would not concentrate on Phoenix anymore. It's too heavy, lacks latest tech and certainly lacks the modern rendering 'machine'. It's not flexible in terms to transfer it into an LL variant. Firestorm (a modern variant of Phoenix based on LL-2-3-code) does actually try to, however it's heavy as well and therefore very laggy. And it's always behind on LL. Firestorm is not heavy to a new computer. Stop using old technology from 5 years ago. Common sense does apply here. A stock 2005 Camaro will not outperm a stock 2012 one. You follow? And another, EVERY SINGLE TPV is behind LL these days since the shared user experience was put into place. TPV's can no longer just create addons. They need to be submitted for LL approval first. They cannot add it into their viewers until it is in the Official LL viewer. LL viewer code is handed out to the TPV's after they roll out new features. Hence every single TPV will be behind the Offical LL Viewer. This is just a way to try and get people to use that hunk of garbage. Sadly LL, it has not worked and probably never will. Which leads me to the viewer tags. LL hated seeing Phoenix/Firestorm/Singularity etc plastered all over a product that they designed in which fewer than 20% use the Offical LL Viewer.
  22. Jadeclaw Denfu wrote: SL did get laggier. It is not only the viewer, that needs more graphic power, it is SL itself as well, especially the 'lag attacks'. You walk normally, suddenly everything slows down like slow motion video for a few seconds, then reverts to normal, often followed by a massive jump forward. And it happens in completely empty sims, where I am the only one in that sim. When I signed up in 2009, that never happened, when there was lag, there was a real visible reason (Sim full, griefer attacks, etc.). It has gotten this worse in the last 6 months. Oh, and it doesn't really depends on the number of breedables in a sim, that only increases the length and depth of the lag attack, not necessarily the number of attacks. (I can rule out a local problem as I'm through 2 reinstalls, 2 Mainboards, 1 Graphics card, multiple router resets/reconfigs, and a bunch of viewer updates.) You do know that there can be up to 4 sims on a single server in SL right? That means it takes only 1 sim that is being griefed, busy, or whatnot to cause the other 3 to lag. Secondly in regards a local problem. If you are running a wireless connection to SL, that alone will cause you to lag as packet loss will usually be quite high no matter how many times you reset or reconfigure your router. You would be surprised at how much in your immediate environment can mess with your computer. Big one being the electrical cords next to net cables, intereference from appliances, phones, and more.
