  1. Hey guys! I have had another * idea! If you have a * SL business (say a * club, or you're a freelance * DJ) you could always hang around this * thread preying on * friendless people suggesting they * subscribe to your mailing list * add you to their friends list. It's * warmer in her in the * forums compared with hanging around * chilly * Welcome areas handing out * flyers. *** Rudi *** ETA No! You mean someone's thought of that already?
  2. Hey, I've got a * great idea! Why don't you * posters desperate for * friends make friends with each other? In fact, why doesn't * LL create a new subforum where people that want more * friends can just make one post saying they want * friends, giving hardly any * information about themselves (just like * Facebook) and then * disappear without making any further * contribution to the * community? *** Rudi *** ETA Such a subforum exists? This is it? Ah, my bad!
  3. The key word here is "sick". *** Rudi ***
  4. Ian Undercroft wrote: Seeing that Rudi's now taken an interest in this thread, isn't it about time he posted a vanity pic of his avatar? What do you think ladies? Do you think you'll be able to keep your hands off him? Erm, I am currently in a committed relationship. I'll think about the pic though, as long as you promise neither of them will find out about it. *** Rudi ***

Better a Trogg than a troll. Did you know that Reg Presley spent all his royalties trying to prove that crop circles were made by aliens? Then, when the guy that had been making them for forty years admitted it, Reg went into denial. *** Rudi ***
  6. Void Singer wrote: thanks I try if nothing else to be pragmatic... but that depends on your goal.... my goal in pushing buttons is to hear "oh, god!"... on reflection, maybe that's yours too? Especially if they are an atheist. *** Rudi ***
  7. That's OK, Mel, pleased to help anytime. *** Rudi *** ETA Ooops, you were talking about the land mathematics problem, not the "other thing", weren't you.
  8. Innula Zenovka wrote: Sorry. I don't normally see much that happens outside the Scripting, Animation, and Adult Content forums. I tend to rely on Pep's blog for word of what is happening elsewhere. You didn't ask about it in Scripting Tips, did you? /me scratches his head and tries to work out how he could introduce incest into a Scripting Tips forum; perhaps a challenge for another day...? *** Rudi (laughed) *** ETA Don't trust Pep's blog. He makes most of it up!
  9. Void Singer wrote: wrong * buttons It depends upon whose moral code of behavioural strictures you observe - or more to the point, upon the personal prejudices of the guy with the big virtual stick. But you are, in pragmatic terms, absolutely correct. *** Rudi ***
  10. I push lots of * buttons. Then I am * forced to * take involuntary * forum vacations. *** Rudi *** ETA We're probably OK until Monday now though! Let your thoughts run free - and delete the posts on Sunday night.

  13. Innula Zenovka wrote: Your posts on the topic in the thead Sex and Vampirism were still there last time I looked. Was there another thread you were posting in, too? Thank you for your concern Innula. I have posted in (cough) quite a few threads; perhaps the perpetrators gave up because they wanted to go home early for Thanksgiving. Or maybe posts in the Vampire thread take more killing than normal ones . . . *** Rudi ***

LL are begining to remind me of the boy who ran away from the circus because it was too exciting for him. Although he ended up as he English Prime Minister John Major, didn't he? *** Rudi ***

  16. Rolig Loon wrote: WooHoo! My followers have disappeared too. (Well, all but one, but that's a great improvement). That's something to be thankful for, a good way to start the day. :smileyhappy: Give it until * Monday. You'll probably have 'em all * back then! *** Rudi ***
  17. Try * SLU, they seem to * post there much more * often than * here. *** Rudi ***
  18. I thought it would be appropriate to bring to the attention of the Community - and possibly other Linden Lab authorities who may not know that such activities are being conducted in their name, despite a historical public commitment by Lexie, who I understand may be returning to her post next month, which can't be too soon! - that posts are being deleted from threads without any notification to the posters (and not as a side-effect of the deletion of other posts, which is the usual excuse given for stealth moderation) or indication left in the thread that such censorship has been effected. This is despite those posts not contravening ANY elements of the forum Guidelines or Terms of Service! To explain: I am currently considering an involvement in role playing of a family/relationship nature, but my previous experience went really sour when I was involved with a blue werewolf with whom I had twin hybrid progeny, care of whom I initially entrusted in my partner, who brought them to maturity quickly and then proposed multiple incestuous relationships. I was horrified! There was no sexual ageplay involved, and it seems that incest is not forbidden by the ToS (I checked) but I am afraid that my underlying moral framework generates a repugnance of even virtual incest. Therefore, whenever I am investigating a potential rp relationship, the first question I ask is - in an entirely neutral fashion, so that the response is not skewed by expectation bias - what their views on incest are. This generally provides me with sufficient information to know whether I might wish to proceed with further research regarding the opportunity for involvement. I have asked several such questions recently in these forums of those searching for "friendships" and "relationships" and received fairly negative responses, although I perceived a reluctance to commit which might have been related to a disinclination to judge, or open-mindedness on the subject, neither of which would endear me to the underlying proposition - so I have not pursued the possibilities. However, despite this being, as far as I am aware, an entirely legitimate use of the forums, it appears that my posts have been removed without notification or explanation. I understand that the forum Guidelines state that "the actions taken (or not taken) by Linden Lab and our moderators are at our sole discretion, and we may act without warning or explanation" and I would guess that the mere mention of incest was enough for someone with the relevant powers to take peremptory capital action. In that context it seems that there is little I can do except protest here publicly, until perhaps my protest is removed as the Syrians have shown they are more effective at doing than the Egyptian authorities, and hope that others in the forums might note that their apparent "freedom of expression" apparently offered if you comply with the specifics of the forum Guidelines is being eroded by the personal and private sensitivities of those with the autocratic power to be able to act upon their prejudices. *** Rudi ***

  20. JoeC Mixmaster wrote: 2. There is a very useful feature in firestorm called area search. you can search for objects to find in your area. Let's say you lost something you put out for decoration and you can't find it. This tool will let you find it easily. It's in the world menu. That's also very useful for restoring the balance against treasure hunt participant stores who hide stuff in ridiculous places with the intention of keeping you at their place forever; like supermarkets change their layout regularly in an attempt to prevent you from buying what you need efficiently. It's quite fun, though, to bump your trolley into new stacked displays so they collapse, and then when the staff arrive to clear up the mess explain that "it wasn't there yesterday". *** Rudi ***
  21. Griffin Ceawlin wrote: Yeah, I saw that. The thread that was pulled was also reposted on the blog. Better there than here... The threatened "event" is still scheduled to take place next Tues/Wed in the Games subforum of the Events section, which is the appropriate place for information, education and entertainment, although not self-promotional advertising. This sort of thing is much easier to ignore when confined to the Linden blogs and non-people discussion forums, although the forum Guidelines should, of course, be strictly followed by contributors. Since Cato is no longer able to do so, I would like to quote the Guidelines: "If you see a post you feel violates the Community Participation Guidelines, or our Terms of Service, then please click the Report Inappropriate Content link that appears in each post, and let us know why you feel the post is inappropriate." always remembering that "the actions taken (or not taken) by Linden Lab and our moderators are at our sole discretion, and we may act without warning or explanation". *** Rudi ***
  22. Sy Beck wrote: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Featured-News/New-Premium-Membership-Features/ba-p/1076967 Relevant Extract: ...Premium members will regularly receive exclusive virtual items that you won't find anywhere else. The very first gift is a stylish set of furniture crafted by Colleen Desmoulins of The Loft. The set features a sofa, tables, plants and lamps to enhance your home’s cozy factor. You can change the look of most of the furniture to fit your home’s unique style and decor — whether you live in a Linden Home or elsewhere... So you might want to ask what their timescale of regular is. I think you might be confusing the meanings of "frequent" and "regular", the latter potentially referring to once every blue moon. *** Rudi ***
