  1. Linden Lab wrote: FYI - we are postponing this meeting. However, the best place for community tools feedback continues to be in Forum Feedback. You want suggestions, LL, then here's a few to start with. 1. Revert all disciplinary actions taken against concerned citizens who protested at the ridiculously inappropriate use of the discussion section of the forums for a crass advertising event full of attempts at self-promotion by the vendors of Spampire systems, which was not so much an ineffective debacle as laughably self-defeating, to such an extent that an extremely intelligent and well-crafted parodic thread was moved by the moderators from GD to the very subforum that would be most embarrassed to receive it. 2. Start moving advertising and self-promoting threads, which appear to have been increasingly encouraged by the muddying of the waters regarding interpretation and enforcement (or not) of the Forum Guidelines, from Discussion forums to Commerce, Land and Events where they should be. There is one particularly egregious example of an event thread which has been allowed to persist in GD, despite regular content-free posts simply intended to bump the thread to remind and encourage potential attendees. Survey requests should be removed to the Help Wanted subforum immediately, as well. 3. You may also want to revisit Lexie's statement that discussions of real life issues should be restricted to the General Discussions subforum, and move the burgeoning numbers of threads wishing to associate sl and rl from the Relationships subforum to GD. I don't want to overload the apparently straining-at-the-seams Community Team (who seem more prepared to shed their - what might be perceived as cowardly - anonymity in the Adult Community) by offering too many suggestions at once, but perhaps credibility and confidence might be improved slightly by a public announcement of the structure (if there is one) of the (Community) Marketing function, now that the departure of Kim appears to have left it headless. Over to you Linden Lab/Community Linden/whatever your current allonym is. I don't expect a coherent response, since you have been careful to state that this is the place for feedback, not Linden participation. Perhaps it would have more of a chance of a reply if I posted it in the SLU forums? *** Rudi ***

  14. When I started I tried to make my avatar look like Michael Jackson - but without me changing any of the sliders my nose started to get more pointed, my hair less curly and my skin-tone lightened considerably whatever I did with my monitor's settings. For some reason my AO made me walk backwards and forwards at the same time, and I kept losing just one of all the pairs of gloves I owned. The final straw, which convinced me I should start rethinking my look, came when male avatars started hitting on me, thinking I was Diana Ross.Sometimes I miss the line dancing in Vampire clubs though . . . *** Rudi ***

I have heard rumours of a damage enabled sim with two pubs on it, one decorated in blue and one in green, where the roleplayers would congregate, drinking pints of heavy with scotch chasers until throwing out time when they attacked each other outside armed only with drinking glasses and broken bottles - until a third set of rpers turned up in uniform and stuffed them into Black Marias. Is this the sort of thing you are looking for? I have always put it down to the screeching and wailing of bagpipes interfering with the normal working of the brain. *** Rudi ***

I am aware of you, Joanne, Mike, Kate (?), and is there another guy? How cool would it be if you all introduced yourselves through a brief posts here? I think very cool. Venus, you are my dearest friend, but do no misunderstand my intention. Easy killer, Genn is not the enemy. Genn's advice on who to ask questions about moderation is like Obama's advice on who to vote for. I want to know who is in charge of the moderation team, so unanswered questions and apparently inappropriate behaviour, or inappropriate inaction on behalf of the moderators might be formally escalated. Otherwise there is always the possibility that the moderators are acting as loose cannons, unsupervised and working to a different set of Guidelines from those that are publicly available - which might seem to have been the case recently, if it were not for the catchall exclusion that "actions taken (or not taken) by Linden Lab and our moderators are at our sole discretion, and we may act without warning or explanation." For example, there is a lengthy and longstanding thread in General Discussions that relates to the organisation, administration and promotion of a forthcoming event that should be removed to the appropriate Event subforum, but despite several requests, it remains in its inappropriate location. This has distasteful similarities to the moderation team's unwillingness to move to the Events section what was self-titled an "Event", regarding Vampires. If LL is embarrassed and unwilling for the general unregistered public to be able to see that they occasionally get things extremely wrong, then perhaps a "private" subforum should be established that is only accessible to registered members of SL where LL's erratic behaviour and contra-Guidelines actions can be identifed and constructively discussed. Maybe a Linden might shed their cloak of anonymity and turn up to give such forum discussions some transparency, if not credibility. *** Rudi ***
  19. Why do you need formal * games in * SL? Go play * Scrabble or SimFarm on * Facebook if you want to derive some sort of * pleasure out of * competing with others on * trivial matters.
