  1. Not directly but you should be able to convert them to Omega. 1. Enable Omega on your SLink : https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Omega-System-Kit-Slink/7671377 2. Read the instructions in the Kit Converter : https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Slink-NC-Converters-for-Omega-System/6220789
  2. The latest Lumae skins are really good for this.
  3. Skins and shapes are two different things so you can definitely keep your shape with a different skin. - shape : when you go into Edit Appearance, you're editing your shape. Then this new appearance is saved as a shape for everything that is editable there (head, avatar, torso, legs, nose, chin, etc...). - skins : if you wear a mesh attachment (head, feet, body, hands, etc...) you need something to apply a skin in it (i.e. : applier). So if you want your avatar to have the same skin from toes to head, you need to look for a skin with applier. Then both your mesh attachment and your LL avatar will have the same skin. But if you've no mesh attachment and go just with LL avatar, you don't need appliers.
  4. His rockstar avie is totally awesome, I support this idea. You don't dress the LL avatar and a mesh avatar the same way so I don't really think that doing one will help with the other. But you don't need to rush things either so yes, you can start with the default avatar, get a good grip on the inventory, marketplace and other things until you feel comfortable to jump to full mesh avatar. Take your time, compare, try to find what are the usual problems that users encounter with these meshbodies, are they big turn offs for you or not? Build progressively your project and jump when you'll know which choice will be the best for you.
  5. While it does look sad on an user's side, on the economic side we've not enough proofs that it is such a problem. To tell if it's a problem, more datas are needed. What are the difficulties that land owners are facing to rent a parcel? What difficulties the renters are facing to rent a parcel? While to lower the price sounds appealing, it may also devalue the quality of the item so it can't be the easy and universal answer for everything. There can even be situations where raising the price is the solution to make a product more competitive.
  6. Oh right... Ban all the travestite foxes who are webcaming with aliens with tentacles and then landowners will become richer.
  7. ... And if you webcam it, you're a prostitute.
  8. When I was on imvu, I was using the derivation tree. Each time I could find a chest or pants that I liked, I would go and check what other items were derived from the original mesh and shopped from the results. We don't have this here. We have to check what we can wear with this and that on our own and usually demo everything because even if you see the Belleza logo on a male mesh clothing, there's still a chance that it doesn't fit correctly. But on the other hand, we don't need to register as a creator to edit something. We can even buy fullperm items as a simple customer and play to texture it the way we want. So while the marketplace is much more a jungle here, on the other hand it can't really be simplified because it would remove the option for the creators to decide what they want to sell and how.
  9. I don't have a male meshbody so I can't really help directly. But when I talk with my male friends, they like Adam, Gianni or Jake (follow nora's links to read the reviews). One thing to be careful about : the shape. I suggest you check that you can edit the shape (copy/modify permissions). The demos are usually nomod but the item description should tell and if not, then think twice. For the eyes, I would suggest you look for noscript or deletable scripts ones. A good meshbody should be compatible with mesh heads from other brands (and vice versa). Most creators are trying to do this.
  10. No it is not that easy and if someone chooses the Belleza Venus it's even harder and we better not talk about the others good meshbodies that are totally ignored by creators. I really don't experience this amazing wealth of clothings for me.
  11. Yes, that's the correct loop. Many creators are supporting only Lara so why customers would bother to compare and choose a different meshbody?
  12. So basically, it's about to lower LL revenue to increase land owners'. Sure try that in RL "Hello Superstore, could you sell your items cheaper so I can be richer?"
  13. There are 12 zodiacs so I doubt that half of the forum is cancer.
  14. "I have a cure, I have a cure ! Anyone has a cancer?"
  15. If you want to improve your look, you probably want to be full meshed from toes to head. Meshbodies are usually a pack that contains the meshbody, a shape, a HUD (to manage your meshbody) and usually some gifties (fitmesh clothings) so you're not going to need to buy that many different things : - a meshbody (except if it's SLink then you'll hands and feet), - a mesh head, - a skin with applier for the meshbody and your mesh head (usually an omega applier), -an omega kit for your mesh body, -an omega kit for your mesh head. Everything you need to upgrade your avie should be in these 3-4 purchases (some mesh head/bodies are already omega ready and you won't need a kit for them). Demo every meshbody that looks as a possible choice. Edit your appearance to check that you can shape as you want. Compare the demos and give a chance to the non-popular meshbodies. While these ones can be hard to dress (only a rare minority of creators support diversity), they can look very good. I started with Tonic Beauty and I really liked it.
  16. Try to have a look at Hairology event too. I've seen hairstyles similar to this one a few times there.
  17. That's the 1st thing that came in my mind when I read this thread. As a rp HUD? Well why not. I believe we already similar things. But as a requirement for all avies? I really don't think that many people are in this kind of 'fun'. It's SL, expect it to work the other way. "I'm hungry. Can we go out and find a restaurant? I've the right sausage for you to eat, come here..."
  18. Right. No-mod doesn't prevent the copyboting. The only way to prevent absolutely a copybot is... to not upload in SL.
  19. Mesh heads/feet/bodies/hands/etc... are replacements over the default avatar. They are worn or added to an attachment point and therefore are not the default avatar. A meshbody is not a default avatar, so every clothing layer for the default avatar can not be worn on a meshbody. However it is possible to apply -litterally hence it's called applier- clothing textures on a meshbody. Some skins are designed to look good with a designed look and sometimes editing your shape can change a lot the way a skin looks but there should be enough choices to find one you like. It depends on each one's style. Personally I like to add earrings, rings, belt, even finned ears and headfins, etc...
  20. There can be some truely odd geek terminology here. Sometimes I wonder how someone who never logged in SL would read all that. "Alpha and Omega? Is this an occultist software?" Alpha is a transparency layer. Then and by extension, we say that something is alphaed when it is fully transparent. This also explains why you may read alpha twice. First, you need to make your avatar transparent so it doesn't poke through your meshbody. Then on your meshbody HUD, you'll also read Alpha on it, this option allows you to hide parts of your meshbody when needed. On SL, mesh has a specific meaning to differentiate it from prim. The main difference is that a mesh has a virtual skeleton which allows it to move and flex in different points. Mesh clothings can then move and flex along your avatar motions. A mesh item can have sculpted details (buttons, zip, strings, ruffles, etc...) that are not possible to achieve with one prim (prim skirts usually have dozen of prims). Bento is an addon to the default avatar skeleton for meshes. This addon allows creators to make animations (via HUD) for meshes. Bento also allows any user to edit his head/nose/eyes/ears/chin with the default Edit Appearance on a Bento mesh head. Applier means it. It applies a texture on your meshbody. Each meshbody has 4 layers to apply textures on : skin, tattoo, underwear and wear (top/pants). There are different skins but if you want a skin to be applied on your meshbody, you'll need an applier. Because doing 25 appliers, one for each meshbody would had turned off creators and confused consumers, someone had the idea to make an universal applier system. One applier for all. It's called Omega Solutions, you can read more here : http://slpoweredbyomega.com/ While Omega is an universal applier system, it is not native. You need to enable/activate it on a meshbody. Then it depends on the creator. Some allows Omega to install in the meshbody and some refuse. A relay means you'll have to wear/add the Omega Relay each time you want this meshbody to apply an Omega applier. Yes, this is an example when you may need to alpha parts of your meshbody. I don't see it in your questions however I believe you may want informations about it : - Fitmesh : There are two types of mesh clothings : rigged mesh and fitmesh. Rigged mesh clothings have a static shape and don't deform to follow your appearance (Edit Apperance doesn't affect them). While a fitmesh clothing will deform with your appearance, going bigger or slimer, thicker or thiner (Edit Appearance does affect them). If you want your own unique shape, it's better to look after fitmesh clothings for Maitreya Lara. You only need one kit for each : - For Catwa : https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Omega-System-Kit-Maitreya/6709966 -For Maitreya : https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Omega-System-Kit-Maitreya/6709966 Well, now that you know that a meshbody is worn/added over your default avatar -which is why the default avatar needs to be alphaed-, you can also see why you need appliers to apply a skin on these mesh replacements (the default skin can't work on a mesh). I've a pale skin and I really had a hard time to find a really well done one. I may suggest you've a look at Soul or Pink Fuel but remember to DEMO the skins and check that it looks like what you're looking for. Have look in the forums here : https://community.secondlife.com/forums/topic/405992-how-does-your-avatar-look-today/?page=105 and there : https://community.secondlife.com/forums/topic/32549-the-vanity-thread/?page=342 If you see any avie that has a style you like, I would suggest to poke directly the poster, most love SL and love to share tips. Oh and don't give up, we all want to see how your avie will finally look.
