I found a fix! I noticed when this happens to me it's the hover on the shape sliders under the body category randomly readjusting to 17. I just put it back to 50 and problem solved.

Holy crap thank you! I thought I was taking a real shot in the dark asking here since my searches turned up nothing, haha. I wish their store was larger though! They must be new, but everything is of exceptional quality so I am certainly looking forward to seeing more from this store. Thanks again!

I was at a store today and saw a girl with a really nice outfit on so I inspected the belt to see where she got it and came up with a store called Fet!sh, or something along those lines. I had the creators profile picks window open but minimized so I could finish in the store I was currently at before I went there. My client started spazzing out and I had to restart it, and when I did so I lost the creator profile and LM to get to the store. I do not remember the girls name who I inspected and I don't remember the creators name. By the time I realized what happened the girl from the store had already left. All I DO remember is that the belt was called Grenadier belt, it was pretty high quality, was black, had multiple belts around the waist, and grenades attached to it. The store name was something along the lines of Fet!sh but I couldn't find it in a search in-world nor on the marketplace, so I am hoping someone here might know it and could give me a LM or the creators name so I can find it from their picks again. When I tried searching in-world a bunch of BDSM places came up, which is not what I am looking for. The only places I found that sold latex and goth clothing were extremely outdated. The only stores I know right now that sell quality stuff like what I am normally looking for are MV Designs, Lapointe and Baschild, and a few smaller places like Corvus, Sugarpill (owned by a friend of mine). Otherwise I only occasionally run into a random piece of clothing in this style in a store that otherwise sells completely different stuff. I even tried Flickr's SL Fetish Fashion groups and couldn't find anyone wearing anything from the same store, and the only times someone was wearing something I really liked, either the LM took me to some other random place, or there were no credits given. The place I had found via inspecting the girls belt looked really promising and I am kicking myself in the foot for restarting my client without realizing I would lose that window. So, does anyone happen to know this store? ;o TLDR: Does anyone here know of a store called Fet!sh, or something along the lines of that, and if so do you have a LM?

Welcome back to SL! I'm also 22, and soon-to-be college grad (February 2014). Also, your icon made me giggle. Anyway, feel free to add or IM me in-world! I'm usually sitting around my skybox doing nothing like a lameass, or working on stuff for my store. Either way, my SL is sadly a bit uneventful.

I'm pretty sure you're the only person on the grid who has EVER used system appearances, Lol. I signed up in 2008 and the first thing I bought was a non-system skin. Isn't there an option for blush color? Perhaps with the last few updates it messed something up on the skin sliders and changed the blush and lip colors to black. I don't think it's a lighting issue, it really looks to me like the color was somehow changed on accident. Maybe try that? ;o

This happens to me quite often as well. I use firestorm and so far just restarting my client fixes it. What happens to me though is that the center point of the avatar stays above ground but my avatar falls into the floor. But because the center point stays the same it thinks my avatar is still in the same place so whenni try to reset camera positions it stays the same and doesn't think anything's wrong. ;o

I managed to sort it out. After I detached the bridge the problem stopped. Now I'm just stuck in the floor again (my avatar dropped but my camera center hasn't), and now I'm restarting in hopes of fixing that one. I can't get a break, Lol. Thanks for everyone who offered suggestions! I had no idea you could set the draw distance to 0 through a chat command like that ;o I'll definitely keep that in mind if it ever happens again.

Okay problem updated. I managed to get all of the objects off of my avatar (I started detaching the scripted things first to make it run faster and then the 500 megaprims after) but then they started slowly reappearing, one by one. I detatched the new objects and they kept coming one every couple of seconds. I disabled scripts on my land and a few still attached, and then I detached the firestorm bridge and they stopped. What the hell?

Yeah those are the two methods I immediately thought of to try, and they still caused me to crash... The first method about removing a few at a time will literally take me days on end because of how many things are attached to me. There's probably a good 20,000 items in that folder that are now attached to my avatar. Taking off 10 or so at a time isn't really efficient by any stretch of the word. =/ My scrollbar on the worn items tab is about 1mm tall. FML

Honestly I think being a bit shorter looks much more realistic than being insanely tall. I haven't seen any tall or "normal" -height avatars that didn't look stretched out and awkward. I am a bit short in SL but it doesn't bother me. Forgive me for being too confident if I am, but I think my avatars shape and height proportions look more realistic and much nicer than most people I encounter. I know that's purely opinion of course, not stating it as fact. And I know there used to not be the height listed, I remember someone made a height prim once that was scripted to tell you your avatars height when clicked on. But even that was a year or so after I joined in 2008. Back then my avatar was probably about 4 feet tall LOL. I got mistaken for a child avatar all the time and I didn't even realize I was that small until someone pointed it out to me. Now although my avatar is much taller, she's still considered "short" but to me is a much nicer look than being stretched and skewed to 7-8 feet tall. As much as I would like to just keep her at 5'5" to represent me irl, I know that's too short so I have to bend a little and bring her up to about 6ft. But I don't think I"ll ever make her any taller than that. I don't want to be Amazonian. ;o

I prefer to use windlight settings instead of using facelights. Set your sun position to 6:00pm sharp, and turn off local lights in your graphics preferences. Then adjust your sky and atmosphere as you like. I honestly hate facelights because while it might make the person wearing it look good, it makes everyone else around them look like complete crap. Especially if they still have local lights turned on in their graphics but otherwise have a nice windlight setting going on-- Facelights tend to ruin it, casting ugly shadows on everyone else's avatars. I have local lights turned off on mine so luckily I won't see it if people are wearing them but I'm pretty sure most people keep that setting on.

/shameless self-advertising Oddly enough a new skin I am working on fits pretty much every one of those standards, only one being that she has a small bit of pubic hair but I can remove that if needed. The skin's not out yet but as soon as I fix a major problem I'm having with my avatar I can make a demo and send it over if you'd like. I'll also have tango appliers sold separately if I can ever get them to look right (just bought the damn things today to work on that, never used them before), but you said she doesn't use them so it's not an issue right now lol.

Not sure where else to post this but I need help ASAP. I was working on a new skin line and when I opened my inventory to change hair, out of nowhere everything in my prims/furniture/etc folder (all of my furniture, boxes, skyboxes/buildings, rezzers, megaprims etc that I had nowhere else to put) just randomly attached themselves to my avatar. Needless to say it crashed my client (I'm using an updated version of phoenix firestorm). So I have about 1000 or more objects randomly attached to my avatar and I can't take them off because every time I try I crash. I tried to take off 10 or so at a time hoping that would go quicker and be less likely to crash since it's less to do at once but just the amount of crap on my avatar right now is making it unavoidable. I even tried going to my outfits and replacing current outfit to a simple one I had saved a few months ago for shape-making that consisted only of the essentials, and even just trying to detach things that way crashed my client. I considered uninstalling/reinstalling but that doesn't affect what I am wearing in-world, only things on my end like the cache and whatnot. I have no idea what to do and I really need to fix this! D; Please help me, I'll be eternally grateful! Imma cry if I can't find a way to fix this. :matte-motes-crying:

There's absolutely nothing wrong with being a realistic size! I'm 5'5" irl, and I try to make my avatar reflect that. Unfortunately when my avatar is exactly 5'5" I get mistaken for a child avatar so I do have to make her a little taller, but even still I am usually up to other people's chests and waists in comparison. I think when avatars are stretched to 7 feet and taller, they tend to look like a praying mantis. ;o Limbs get too stretched out and long and it just distorts everything, taking away the human feel of it. I've noticed very few people mess with body thickness to keep their height proportional but even at just under 6" (my avatars current height) I have her body thickness on 29 (this is a picture of my avatars body), while most people who have height set to 100 have thickness on 0. Honestly I'd much rather see realistic and "flawed" avatars than ones that are always super thin and perfect. Flaws make us who we are and I like seeing avatars with personality rather than just mannequins all the time. I really wish things were more to scale on SL, but I think part of the reason it's not is because of the default camera distance. It makes everything look smaller so we build larger to compensate for it.

To my knowledge invisiprims don't even work anymore since alpha layers came out. The only time I've noticed the shape showing is when it's using an alpha channel somewhere and it's in front of something else with an alpha channel, or a piece of mesh. ;o

Haha definitely. I think that was my 0-slider shape. All of the sliders on the shape are set to 0. And the one I made where they're all set to 100 is equally as disturbing. It's crazy how somewhere between those two extremes are normal human beings.

Or you could just buy modifiable shapes and eliminate the step of having to drag and drop a notecard onto the edit shape window.

Try taking all of your clothing and attachments off and putting them back on. Sometimes one of my tattoo layers will bug and cause everything on that part of the body to not change (and sometimes my entire body). I can put on and take off as many things as I want but it won't update until I take off that tattoo layer. Then I put it back on and everything (including said tattoo layer) works fine again. I would recommend trying that. Just open your outfits window, go to the wearing tab, highlight everything, right-click and take off/detach.

You can save it as a tga file with an alpha channel or do it the easy/lazy way and save it as a png with transparency. Either method will get rid of the white.

I don't know if you're dead-set on it being custom made, but The Body Co. just today released a nice Asian male skin called Zen that seems like it might be something you'd like. I don't know if it comes with any freckles on it but I guarantee you could find some on the marketplace somewhere to add to it if you wanted.

I'm always looking for a new shopping buddy as well. I don't have many stores I am a "regular" at, but my style would be best described as "Metal Chic," Lol. Edgy, lots of spikes and leather, but kind of pinup, and still very feminine and with a "high fashion" vibe. But I also really love other pinup styles and bohemian styles as well.

The word "best" is really subjective. I have no idea what your preferences are and people value different things when it comes to the hair they wear. My personal favorites though are Maitreya, Magika, Truth, and Exile.

Skins will change your face to a point, but for the most part the proportions will remain about the same. You may have to tweak your face a little to fit the new skin, but you shouldn't have to change it so dramatically that it looks like an entirely different person. I would do what some of the others suggested -- look for a newer skin from the same creator of the skin you're currently wearing if they are still around. That'll be your best bet because you'll get a very similar skin but much more updated and detailed. Otherwise some of my personal favorites for skins are The Body Co, LAQ, Tuli, and Pink Fuel. As some others also suggested getting new hair and eyes, that'll definitely help too but since I don't know what your avatar currently looks like I don't know if what you have is that outdated. I would highly recommend picking up some rigged mesh hair though! It moves with the avatar, so when your avatar turns her head, the hair stays on her shoulders rather than clipping through them. Magika, LeLutka, Wasabi Pills, Exile, and Alice Project are some of my favorite places for nice rigged mesh hair. And for eyes, I tend to wear my own (search Nar Mattaru if you want to try them -- I have free demos available) but I also really love Ikon and Insufferable Dastard.
