  1. Usually if you're stuck as a cloud for a while it means it's still loading up your inventory. If you open your inventory and type in a letter in the search box, it'll help speed things up usually. You should pop back to your regular avatar once everything from your inventory is loaded, but sometimes it doesn't work, plus you said you tried waiting forever already. But sometimes when that happens to me, what helps is if you open your outfits panel and right-click one of them and click replace current outfit. It's worked for me every time I've done it, so maybe it's worth a shot. Wait until your inventory is done being loaded though before you try it.
  2. The Shops have some really nice skins, both male and female. The nice thing is, you can choose between several different body types, and pick components of your face individually (lips, eyebrows). They're not really greased up, and just look like an average surfer-type guy who's toned but not bodybuilder-esque. Actually the skin someone posted above me, from Hermony, looks really similar to skins from The Shops, so if you like that kind of body, definitely check them out. There's a ton of different faces and facial options from The Shops available so it's great for customization! Anyway, here's their Flickr page so you can see some of the faces. Just search "The Shops" in-world to find a LM. They're a very popular store, so you'll have no trouble finding the location. I'm not signed on in-world right now to give you a Slurl or I'd just post that. https://www.flickr.com/photos/theshops/ If you do decide to check out The Shops, they have an odd shopping experience. They have a HUD that you need in order to shop. You can click on the sign that says "Need a HUD?" and wear the Shop Mode HUD. Once that's on, you can go to the skins section and you'll click on each pic on the wall that will pull up the info on the HUD where you can choose which tone you want it in, and which color or style. The HUD is what will give you the demos (click try it on button from the HUD). Once you decide you want to buy something you'll have to deposit your lindens into one of the signs on the wall and then it'll show up on your HUD and you can click your options again and click on "Buy now."
  3. You have to apply for the developer kit for Slink hands and feet but you can do so here: http://slinkstyle.com/slink-add-on-program-creator-policy-and-application-form/ You need to own the hands and feet though so you can test out your appliers when you make them. You only need to own one version of each, as the appliers will work on all feet (low mid and high) and all hand positions. The Lola Tangos you would have to buy and the developer kit comes with it, as well as the phat azz/cute azz by *Linc.
  4. They're from The Shops and they ARE in fact free. You get the pumps as a donation gift but you can donate even $1L and get them. They are really nicely made, BUT only work for skins from The Shops. They are not like Slink hands&feet where designers make appliers for them, and they are not compatible with any slink add-on shoes because they are a different shape so your only option for shoes with them are the aformentioned donation gift pumps. The feet come in flat and mid though, so they're nice for pics with bare feet, but that's about it. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/The%20Shops/128/128/1 Go there ^ and click on The Mesh Project and they'll be on the wall somewhere near the heads. You'll need the StyleMode HUD to change the skin tone to match whatever skins from The Shops that you have. But the HUD is free and all tones are included in it for the hands and feet.
  5. If they're the same blondes from the same hair designer, it could be that just that particular texture (the alpha version, if ther rest of the solid pieces are rezzing properly) is just taking a long while to rez. In that case just wear it for a while and it should eventually rez. And it looks like your problem was solved, so that may have been it.
  6. I'm American and I am well aware that Korea and China are both countries in the continent of Asia. No need to put us down based on stereotypes.
  7. I couldn't tell you which face specifically but I can tell you that the first one looks to be from Essences, the second is from Pink Fuel (Harley maybe?), third is from League (definitely Isla), fourth is from Glam Affair, and fifth and sixth are older skins from LAQ/Laqroki.
  8. They are from Dead Apples. Edit: Here's the specific pack they're in. I think individual sets of eyes are available in-world.
  9. I hate facelights It may make you look good on your screen but not only does it make you look like crap to anyone with windlight settings, it also makes everyone around you look like crap because it casts shadows everywhere and washes out faces. Pretty sure at this point most people have windlight settings on (if you use Firestorm, I know a lot of people who use the CalWL preset and I use it as well because it looks nice), so I'd recommend just using that. So you wouldn't have to worry about looking weird on other people's screens because I think very few don't use windlight.
  10. I just removed the link. I figured most people wouldn't be **bleep**ty enough to go ahead and buy from them but you're right there are always the few that don't care So yeah, link removed. I guess I'll have to drop a notecard to each of the designers to DMCA. Even if the skins end up being different, they're still using the designer names AND their images to advertise so even that's copyright infringement. I saw some of the originals and the person even took their marketplace photos, they didn't even remake them either.
  11. Is there any way to report an entire marketplace store? Or do I have to notify every designer individually that their work is being stolen and sold at a discounted price so that they can file DMCA? Like, the person isn't even being subtle about it.
  12. Yes! There are stores on the marketplace that aren't anywhere in-world, and there are stores in-world that aren't anywhere on the marketplace. Things that are made in-world have to be uploaded to the marketplace manually and then make a picture and description for it. Some people don't want the extra trouble and would rather just set up shop in-world, and vise versa. Definitely don't limit your shopping to one or the other because you'll be missing out.
  13. For something that hugs the body in real life like underwear and lingerie, I would always pick system clothing for that on SL. In my opinion mesh is more for things that aren't skin-tight. I've seen plenty of mesh underwear but I think the only purpose they really serve is to fix the overly-deep buttcrack that you can see from the side, or to make it look a little more realistic where the underwear stretches over that area rather than dips into it. Mesh underwear can look cute, but it's awkward in some poses because alphas are really limited for such a tiny area to cover.

    Eyebrows

If you already have a skin with no eyebrows I do have these available in my shop on the marketplace. They are tintable so you can match them with any hair color you'd like. I don't have a layer to hide your skins current eyebrows though just because they are so difficult to make seamless, since every skin is different and has different kinds of shading in that area so for these you'd need a skin that already does not have eyebrows (The Skinnery has that option for theirs). Or if you have a layer to hide your current eyebrows from another product that works well for you, of course you can combine them with that.
  15. Another problem I was having is when I combine two meshes together, it doesn't want to import to SL. When I go to upload it, it gives me an error (in the mesh upload options box, not when it actually goes to upload). I made sure to freeze transformations and delete history before I exported. =/ But I don't remember if I forgot to set a new material to the second object. Could that be it?
  16. So I'm pretty new to mesh in SL but just created my first simple mesh item here. It's one of those septum piercings that look like a mustache. (I'm using maya 2013 for reference) When I upload it, the proportions of it are way off because it won't let me scale any dimension of it to be less than 0.1m in size. This is what's happening. The left is the one that's at the right size (other than the Z depth) for the piercing. The one on the right behind it is at the proper proportions, but far too large for the face. Is there any way to bypass the 0.1 size limit for a mesh object? I know there are ways to make microprims but is there any such thing as micromesh? People make mesh piercings all the time, so I know it's possible for them to be tiny, but I'm not sure how. When I first upload it it's super tiny, but the depth is still too big and it has the proportions of a tape worm ;o I've tried adding a cube behind it and combining the mesh and exporting it that way but when I go to upload it to SL it says "Error: element is invalid." Is there any way to make mesh smaller than 0.1m in one dimension? Is it something I have to do in Maya, the upload settings, or in object settings or what? Or is there another setting I have to mess with in order to properly upload two objects as one (like with the cube behind it)? I'm really lost at how to get this to be the right size so any help would be greatly appreciated.
  17. I think you should go check out the Anais skin from Glance! This one here is the December tone. (And just for reference, 1000L is average price for a skin on SL)
  18. It sounds like the designer may have accidentally put the wrong color applier in with the dress. If what the person above me said doesn't work, try contacting the designer because it may have been a mistake on their part.
  19. Maybe try doing another clean install? (as in uninstall first and then reinstall) I use the program too sometimes but I've never had a problem with it like that and I actually run Win7 32-bit rather than 64. Also, try updating it maybe, I know there was an update recently for it that I downloaded.
  20. I would say reduce the size of your boobs a little bit becuase once you hit 60 or so they start to droop a bit. Or you can reduce the torso muscle slider a little. I know the muscle slider isn't restricted to just the arms, it does affect the rib cage a bit as well but I'm not sure if it'll affect the front as much, but I would say to give that a shot. Or possibly body fat if you have it on anything. I usually have mine on around 8-12, but sometimes I have to reduce it because I end up in a half-size for standard sizes, and they don't make those.
  21. Haha yeah, since the skeletons are all the same and there is no body morphing for different shapes (a mesher would modify the original body shape via the geometry rather than bones), the sitting and other object interactions aren't screwed up. Everyone's the same height by default so it makes everything a bit easier with animations. You can buy taller avatars but since the skeleton used for furniture animations are all the same size, you still get scaled down while you're on that node. (for some reason the taller avatars are typically made taller by stretching bones rather than by any other means).
  22. Oh yes, they have rooms and can decorate with furniture and everything. Instead of walking around they have standing and sitting nodes to move around the room or sit on/interact with furniture and other objects. You place a piece of furniture in your room by clicking on it in your inventory and it appears next to your avatar. From there you can drag and drop it to other nodes, and then use keyboard shortcuts for fine-tuning in case it doesn't sit in the exact place you want. You can scale, rotate, and even copy a piece of furniture as many times as you want. The only thing with furniture animations (such as sits on a couch), is that they also scale with the furniture. So if you scale a chair up to be gigantic, any avatar that sits on it will be gigantic. The rooms can be saved as your personal room so you can use it when you open a chat window with someone, you can save it as your default room so when you open your "my room" tab that's where you'll go. You can invite multiple people to join you in your room but they can't join without you inviting them unless you open it as a public room -- in which case everyone can join based on your settings (18+, access pass only, teens only, etc).
  23. @Czari: Merchants there are called developers or creators and we sell the same kinds of things you'd see on SL, just that sometimes they work a little differently. The main differences being: 1. Meshes are usually set to derivable, which means that another developer can derive from someone else's mesh and retexture it to sell in their own catalogs. Meshes are not required to be set to derivable, it's just that most people do so because there is a lot more money in letting other people use it. They do not get any copy of the mesh file, it's purely in-client. The mesher that is derived from then gets a portion of every sale that they are able to set to whatever amount they feel their original product is worth. There are far more texture artists on IMVU than 3d modelers. 2. All stores are website only. There is no in-world store other than a shop tab in-client which brings up a dressing room for people to try on products (therefore eliminating the need for separate demos, since you can't leave that room and no one else can join you while you shop). The shop tab is exactly like the web shop, it's just integrated into the client for ease of access. 3. IMVU gets a cut of every sale, so there are no freebies. Creators can gift their products to other people but they still have to pay IMVUs cut even if it's their own product-- They just don't have to pay the markup, which is the creators own profit. 4. There are no product permissions. You cannot modify or transfer anything you buy, but you can save outfits like you can on SL, but instead of duplicating anything it's really just creating a shortcut. 5. There are no layers of clothing. Each piece of clothing is basically replacing the part of the body that it is attached to, so different body types are attached to the clothing made for them. Some people have made "any-skin" items that are attachments designed to act like layers but they don't always fit flawlessly because of the different body types and heads that people use. Also, since it is laying on top of the body as its own geometry, if you wear an any-skin tattoo and wear skin-tight clothing over it it will appear on top of the clothing rather than under. Those are some main differences. I'm a creator on both, so if anyone has any specific questions about IMVU please feel free to ask.
  24. I'm a professional developer on IMVU and have been there since 2006 (I make my living entirely on IMVU). I joined Second Life in 2008. The main difference is that IMVU is a 3d avatar chat software, and Second Life is a virtual world. IMVU you open an IM to talk to someone in your room, or you can go to a public room (i.e. a chat room) and talk to multiple people there as they come and go. Second Life you have a whole world where you can shop, go shopping, go to clubs, etc. Without ever having to open up a new window or tab to do so. Second Life has much less limits than IMVU does. While I do like both, SL I find is much more open. There is no paid-for access pass for mildly adult content. Actual adult content is allowed on SL but not on IMVU. The avatars on SL are far more detailed and customizable as well. On IMVU, shapes come with the clothing you buy, kind of like mesh clothing on SL, but there is no scaling to body parts, it just replaces that part of the body mesh with clothing weighted to it. And for your face, you buy heads instead of use sliders to customize your look after putting on a skin. Some heads look good with some skins, others not so much.
  25. LOL@blowing up your sub I'm not into the RP or the sekz, just some of the fashion But that made me actually laugh out loud. But yeah, some of the things in fetish stores kind of scare me. And I've seen my fair share of fetish attire and props, both in second life and real life (goth club I go to irl has a "Taboo night" every few months that does demonstrations and shows and whatnot). But some of the things on SL just horrify me.
