    I said no such thing.

On the contrary, I was suggesting that the frequently unpleasant tone here is characteristic of what we might expect to see more of on Twitter if Musk's own frequently negative voice, and a more liberal acceptance of negativity, sets the tone for discourse there. The entire premise of my remarks is that that, and the tone that has developed here, is not a good thing. That's not "condoning" the tone here: it's saying it exemplifies what we don't want.

@Scylla RhiadraYou said, "...and a more liberal acceptance of negativity sets the tone for discourse there." And certainly here. Perhaps you did not condone this thread's behavior, but you did rationalize it. (We misbehave because of the tone Twitter set.)

If this tone is what we don't want here, then why are we engaging in it? Because of Twitter's tone?

Which is one of the reasons why some (including myself) are concerned about his championing of so-called "free speech." The complaint raised in this thread by @Extrude Ragu and @Eirynne Sieyes  about the vitriol and toxicity of some of the attack on Musk here in this thread are a wee bit ironic in this context. I don't mean this in a snarky way, but, really, this does seem to be, in some measure, the tone that Musk himself has established, and that will probably become a lot more prevalent should he actually get his way about opening up the platform to "free speech." It happens a lot on Twitter now: expect it to happen more. And the "vitriol" here is, ironically, an exemplification of the potential impact of his control over the platform.

@Scylla RhiadraRather than what tone you believe Musk sets, which parenthetically you use to condone the behavior here, my comment referred to the vitriol that we, the citizens of this forum, create.

I asked if this angry tone represents who we want to be.

I asked for personal reasons, hoping my question would lead some of us to reflect and chill. Mindfulness is a great thing.

Speaking for myself, I would love to see us minimize the vitriol and just talk.

  3. So much emotion and thinly veiled animosity / hatred is being directed toward Musk by some who are suspicious of or who don't share Musk's views. He is wished ill will, is judged and pronounced guilty of negative motivation, is subject to ridicule, etc.

Is vitriol the vibe we want for this thread? I wonder what this thread would look like if the contempt was missing.

Fantasseria has been fully “edged” already and Patch has said it only has one entry point (not sure why). The regions north of the logs need to be a waterway between Snert and Really Wet. Sakura need not be joined to Satori, only close enough so that connectors are reasonable.

At one point Patch said that Fantasseria was a subcontinent of Belli (corrected thanks to Abner). You can't cam out to see it from bordering Belli lands. It is Fantasseria; a wonderful fantasy land. So, (shhhh, while you can tp in), you have to go through terribly rough waters to reach it by its single magical entrance.

I finally met Fluffy today, in Horizons!  First time I'd ever played it and finished it. Fun game. :)

Let's say I want to meet Fluffy. Is there a url to start?

  6. Looks like Sakura is able to have 100-Li rez zones because weight is lost elsewhere. The tree and retaining wall system is significantly lighter, at least on casual inspection. Even though the look is lush, I did not find a tree over 18 Li; most were much lighter. This is much lower than used in most of the older themes. Ditto with the decorative retaining walls, which are also used as planters/fencing. Smart.

I can't get over the numerous home choices. What a pleasant surprise! On casual inspection the homes also seem to be lower Li than in other themes. Picky me even managed to find a small 512 Tsubaki, a near open floor plan that would look great on a 1024.

This does not mean I am not patiently waiting for open floor plans for the vics and the trads, and even the rest of the saks. 😉

When I think about how much LL has lightened the load, I am surprised the beautiful vics with their amazing prim-heavy trees and shrubs and flowers and railroads actually fit on a sim!

  7. And if all else fails, do what the builders do: pick up a copy of ~[PM]~PARCEL BOUNDARY TRACER. (The name of the product is in all caps.)

Rez a platform at the height you want to build, set out the boundary tracer, click rez, and you will see accurate parcel boundaries displayed.

  8. I'm not making any changes until I see what the various charges will look like on my credit card. I have some annuals, some quarterlies, and a monthly or two which post throughout the year. Factoring into any decisions, Super Ppremium, whatever that is, may play a role. I wouldn't mind upscaling a low-stipend avi or two if the value is there.

I didn't get problems rezzing, with the other Bellisseria houses. Maybe the construction format was changed?

You guys who can rez elsewhere in Belli are just plain fortunate! I periodically get that message lots in all my homes, even on mesh in a mainland home. 'm always setting out a prim to rez on.

LL is not a charity, but they are not monsters either.

    Well said Nika.

Back to enhancements. Along with huge windows and an open floor plan or open floor plan option, I would love to see very high ceilings. Maybe 15-foot ceilings in parts (or all) of the house. Think of the spacious and airy Meadowbrook's Loftroom model: Contemporary styles with clean lines that bring the outside in. Lots of lakes and rivers. Navigable water would be optimal. The 512/1024 feature introduced with the containers was brilliant, and I hope it continues.

Also, consider skylights and please, please add built in solar panels. (Besides setting a good example, solar will ensure nobody will mess with the roof line. 😇)

  11. This must be apology day. I owe Patch and the Moles an apology. What follows is the curvy train of thought that led to that conclusion:

When I read Patch's decision today mandating flat roofs, I was puzzled. It made no sense. How is it that the homes must have flat roofs, but they can be made out of metal, wood, brick or stucco? The only container buildings I've ever seen are made of metal.

Feeling guilty, I wondered if we (especially me) hadn't complained so much, perhaps things would have evolved differently? Remember when the Vics first came out? We were not to paint the outside anything but the offered shades. After a while, tastefully modding the outside colors became normal.

At the Newbrooke pre-release, I forgot that I was dealing with people, Human Beings who were doing their best to create a great theme. I forgot that though the Lindens and Moles work here, they are individuals who are clearly invested in their work. I'm very happy they are invested. it's why they keep turning out one good looking theme after the other. It's why they take the time to participate with us here.

it is Human nature, I reasoned, to dig one's heels in under criticism, especially when working hard at making something wonderful. Putting myself in their shoes, I wondered if our criticism may have contributed to the roof ordinance. (Which still makes no sense to me.) If I was working intently creating a theme I thought was dope and was hit with a wall of criticism instead of appreciation, I would feel angry and hurt. Maybe I would have dug my heels in - and mandated something. Anything, lol!

It is most likely that there is Zero connection between the forum criticism and the flat roof edict on container homes made of stucco, wood, brick, oh, and metal. It is also very likely that the homes are as they are by design, especially since the initial release was rushed and imperfect. Add to that the combination Chalet theme that was released not too long ago.

I'm not attributing the workings of my brain to Patch and the Moles. This is My Head. In the end I landed on it not mattering how the roof mandate came about. But I knew I needed to apologize to@Patch Lindenand to the Moles and the rest of you guys for my behavior on the forums regarding the pre-release viewing. I was rude and insensitive because I was angry that my highly anticipated updated Meadowbrook did not materialize.

I am sorry. Thank you for one more great theme.

And, would you please consider an updated Meadowbrook?  ;-D
