I have been struggling lately to figure out what my favorite Belli theme is. And I found that a very difficult question....

Then it occurred to me... One of the things I love about Bellisseria is that it offers such a wide variety of really nice neighborhoods and house styles. I love that it is hard to choose a favorite theme because there are so many nice ones to choose from.

Precisely why many of us can't have just one! 😁

  2. Patch's emphasis on font use only in free items reminds me of early SL. Those of you who were around, remember all the free full perm stuff people lovingly donated to the grid?  *digs into hidden reaches of inventory and hurries back to being on-topic*

Ya I'm sure they had some nice outfits there,  but honestly, we had a lot of good looking avatars even with system avatars and plenty of really nice content..

We had sculpties well before mesh which gave us a lot of really amazing content.. I just always remember them looking the same and having the same faces and bodies.. Do they have a limited pool of avatars to choose from?

Also, I'm wondering if they can upload mesh or limited to a certain amount of mesh to work with and have to link textures to work with the mesh catalog.. Because I know some worlds that do that, like redlight for instance..

I mean we had some pretty good system avatars as well as stuff to beat even back then.. not that I even look at both as competing, but SL pretty much was the one to beat  if there was a relationship in that aspect..

I have better images on our older hard drive, but we have to get an older computer set up to get those off of there..

This is my avatar in 2012

    Then 2011

Then 2009, I did do some green screen on this one to put in the background, but other than the text, that's all the photochopping I did to it.

Very nice job @Ceka Cianci. And sooo much better than IMVU today!

How ironic (and fun) would it be if IMVU players found this thread - and moved here. Hahaha!

  4. Got here a little late. The only thing I can think of (besides everything everybody already mentioned, and maybe somebody already did mention) are the new open floor plans. Love my trads even more now, and eagerly looking forward to the open Vic.

    Great thread. Thank you, Teresa!

  5. You know what? I love the anticipation and frustration and hair-pulling over new themes, new SSPs, new floorplans, lack of new floorplans, etc., etc., etc. I love guessing what the next theme will be (never got it right yet). I love wanting the home I didn't get - and the thrill of getting one I love months and months later. I love holding onto the "keepers" when I can.

I love having all you wonderful people to complain about this and that to - and cheer about this and that with. I even love kvetching over how things weren't how I WANT THEM TO BE!  😂

I want to thank Patch and the Moles for all they do and hope they keep these beautiful regions and fresh ideas a-comin'!

Can you imagine the mess if all the PP members could request a PP location when they are released??

If we all asked together, all at the same time, maybe nobody would see a house. Especially when we start demanding our right to a 2048 now!

Patch et al. might just quit! 😁

There's been vague screenshots with corners of rooms and a few windowsill designs... that doesn't exactly scream 'theme reveal' to most of us, especially those of us with mental handicaps that don't allow us to understand things, especially riddles. :/

That is exactly what is done with all the releases I can think of. Little hints that have us going crazy trying to figure it out. It is just a fun guessing game Lydia. Play along with us!

  8. I rented a Kitely sim perhaps two years ago. I had a choice of what style sim to get. It came with all sorts of things, and it came somewhat nicely landscaped.

I made a few things and found all sorts of free (bad) content. They had planned meetings where a very few people congregated in a circle and chatted.

It lasted a month or two.

  9. I'm not worried. Remember all the fuss over how SL would go down the tubes and be destroyed when it was sold? Well, all Oberwager et al. have done since acquisition is invest in SL and add some truly noteworthy features. Transformative features. The Lab Gab mobile preview was astounding. Not quite there, but the Lindens have made good on their promises.

Those of us with thick glasses can still play on our desktops. I welcome having kids come in with their phones and tablets.

  10. That makes sense @Teresa Firelight.  I think it is likely that some people still don't know about Belli; some like how empty and unlaggy the old homes are; some just want a place to dress and unpack a box or two; some are creatures of habit; others may want the space to invite residents for game play; some prefer solitude to socialization; some may misunderstand tier, others may not care for decorating or are intimidated by the thought; some may not like the "policing" that goes on in more rule-driven areas; and some may just be plain ol' nuts lol!

Personally it took me a very long time to move because I didn't like how confining the homes felt.

Finance will need more resources for all the adjustments that's for sure. Do it right the first time would be my first choice. I had to work with a co once who was sued for a billing goof that turned into a bigger discovery of past accounts no longer living that needed to be researched and refunded would go that route personally it's worth the extra time and effort and with the right person minimal team needed. Simple to research how long not in world and go back. Pulling the plug in one go with an auto generated email is most optimal with auto return for objects. If they are in world that long they will figure out where to put their adult bed and piece of art lol. chants~~ Pull the plug! pull the plug!

I still think historical orgs should get to do their thing before it's gone forever.

Edit: Can't really mail refund checks in this situation. I would credit each account linden currency for the accounts in death question. If they log in and spend it they are alive and no refund. the refund gets refunded to LL. Say the executor of an estate receives a hypothetical email sent by LL advising of refund via Linden Credits the person representing the dead should have option to provide proof of death and mailing address for USD refund if requested.

Nah. Much easier to just let the dead deal with it themselves.

  12. Ouch! This alphabet soup is giving me a headache! Open GL, Closed GL, SL uses mostly GPU or is it CPU, or mostly RAM? Whichever, I understand just a little.

Please help me identify specs for a relatively high-end laptop for SL that's not a heavy, lit up gaming system - and which will still support SL graphics in a year or two. All I use now is a 14-inch ThinkPad with an 11th gen i7, 16 DDR4, and no video card. Though it works pretty well, there is lots of room for improvement!

So far I know to look for:

    • at least 32 gigs of DDR5 RAM
    • 12th gen Intel i7 (now there are letters after the i-7?)
    • some sort of NVIDEA RTX card that won't sound like it is taking off (fat chance) - or Quatro?
    • in a relatively light weight body (4 or 5 lbs?)
    • with which is the fasted SSD now, M2?
    • 16" (preferably) or 17" brilliant screen whose native resolution may be higher, but that can be run at 1920 x 1080 for better performance.  Does anybody make non-OLED brilliant screens these days - like MSI used to years ago?

    Any suggestions are very appreciated.

Having only a new theme for PP seems a bit limiting - so if people don't like the theme they might not be willing to pay for PP (if they want PP only for the extra home perks). Unless of course the new theme has some great styling customisation features that we haven't seen in previous themes. (Patch or someone did mention something about some new features coming in a future theme). The other alternative is that any themes after the next one are 2048 only too, giving some more variety.

A little off topic, but there was talk a while back about how the homes had to be set in a certain spot to prevent Linden landscape from poking through the house. That problem should be less of an issue on a larger lot, thus homes could have dissimilar footprints and may even be able to shift direction, both requested features.

Since vics are a beloved theme, I will venture that maybe some sort of vic will be part of the picks along with other requested styles like mid-century, modern, trads, and various "ranch" styles that could coordinate, as they do in RL neighborhoods. If vics are included, the artistry will be to coordinate the amazing, romantic landscaping with the various home styles. Maybe there will be sims regions landscaped to compliment home style a, b, c and others to compliment x, y, z.

Counterintuitive perhaps, but I would be delighted to have a contemporary high-ceilinged "ranch" with vic landscaping. (A girl can dream.💗)
