  1. I'm probably too early, but I did not find one silly little pumpkin or hud at Randelsham or elsewhere. (I do hold out hope that Meadowbrook will be remodeled and that that is what we see in Patch's Halloween phots. Twenty foot ceilings please.

And thanks to Nika for sending us to the cute Linden video. It was followed by four adorable kitties singing; a delight to watch even though they may leave you mice and rat heads. (Hear that O Fearless Leader?) I would strongly suggest not trick or treating with this bunch.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXezLv_5RaY

Other side of the coin:  Feeling overwhelmed by having so many different parcels.  "NOW what am I gonna build?!?!?!?!?"

I so get it @Rabid Cheetah. Right now I have collected a bunch of Bellis (a Fantasy, Vic, two Trads, a Log and a Houseboat) and a nice parcel on a high cliff over a river. I love to decorate. Some have lasted a long time and are "keepers," usually because of location. Others change when I tire of them. Yes, "NOW what am I gonna build?" Lol!  🏚️

I have Spectrum and there are 2:options when I pull up the internet spots on my computer.  There is the regular connection with my name and then a 5G version.  The regular connection always shows a more consistent signal and why I switched back from using the 5G.

I have Spectrum too. The tech told me it wouldn't go to regular connection not because of the service, but because the wireless router would only do 5G or 2G.

  4. You are so way ahead of me Jaylin, as are the other posters here. Sooooo... I called my provider (not AT&T) and had them check the connection and swap the modem. I notice no difference.

It turns out I am on 5G wifi. Even though it is 4.xyz, it is considered 5 G. I cannot change it without a new router. Yes, I know wifi is lacking, but that's how its been for years, even prior to the crashes. Unfortunately, wired is inconvenient the way this house is set up.

I give up! Fortunately, I can think of lots more awful things than crashing. I can live with it.

Thanks everybody so much for the tech support! I learned lots.

If you have an intermitent connection you will never see it. That is almost always a local problem on your end.

This was interesting. And Dulluhan most certainly does reside in this computer. I see the aws us-west-2... server, and many instances of it along with lots of red, green, and yellow refreshing every second.

But what is it I will never see if I have an intermittent connection?

(Also, I do reboot modem when connection seems messy.)

I think I picked up one of each. And the vendors would not let me pick up two. Architect vendors have the feature that if you re-purchase an item, even from way back, you are refunded and directed to a redelivery page. Way to go!

Are you using the 5G option on the wireless?  Although faster, it's also less stable.  I normally run wireless also and there is much better response using the normal WiFi as opposed to the 5G.  It times as slower but the connection is more consistent which is needed with SL.  Stability over speed.

Heck, I have no clue! But I will find out. Thank you so much Rowan.

  8. Always wireless, but it's a fast 400 speed. I almost always use a thin and light notebook with an integrated card. It fits my lifestyle. And it is amazing how well the 11th gen i-7 cards play. I know it's far from optimal, but it will handle two or three instances of SL when needed.

I will gladly take your suggestions. I will also increase cache to 4000 since it was maxed out.

*crosses fingers and toes that it's not aws*

  9. Thank you.

I don't know the difference between crashing and disconnecting. I doubt it is the ISP since other services are unaffected, including streamed content run concurrently. The screen freezes the scene and controls don't work. It stays this way maybe half a minute(?), a minute(?) before I am able to shut it down. If it matters, aws became suspect when Yavanna pod rides were crashing and a tech-savvy person on their Discord channel suggested I look into the Amazon connection. The same thing happens on two computers.

  10. This is one of those posts where the technology is not understood well enough to compose the question. Here's my best shot:

Since SL moved to the cloud, the browser will crash perhaps 5 times in an hour, including but not just on tp. It has been suggested that our aws connectivity may be weak. Otherwise, we are on a fast cable connection with few problems in the South East USA.

Testing speed from https://cloudharmony.com/speedtest-for-aws  we failed 3 tests (Lightsailap-northeast-2, Lightsailap-south-1, and Amazon EC2eu-central-1) I don't understand the tests.

Does anyone have idea about what may be going on? Or, how to go about finding out more about our aws connectivity?

M   They only munch at night!   Stand right here in Acanthis, right now in fact, keep your camera close (if you are hearing things from camera position), and wait.  It's intermittent, but you will hear them crunching away away quite loudly :)

I have come to like antmunch. I listen for it. In fact, when I land in my house during the day, and I don't hear antmunch, I think, what's up? Is my sound not on?

Then I come back hours later at night -- antmunch is back. I think they hunt at dusk and then retire to munch on their prey late at night.

I'm still looking for antmunch. It must be rare; can't tell you how much sound sightseeing I've been doing to find them!

  13. No more old servers. There was a photo back then showing all the hard drives in a dump box taking their turns being destroyed. If memory serves, they junked the machines themselves as well.

Good point about entering water regions. We can notify them that we will be there in 10 minutes, so get them up! lol

Hmm, it's comparing apples and oranges, but Kitely (an OpenSim grid manager) has fairly low prices for their "worlds" but they support fewer avatars per region.

When a Kitely region has no residents present, the region goes offline. It returns once an avatar visits. They use this method to save money. It's not a bad idea; I don't notice much delay going into a sleeping region.

While 'instant on' works for Kitely with its much smaller user base and less richly scripted/decorated environment, I wonder if same could be applied to low-use SL regions like water ways, light homesteads, etc., and if it would cut costs.

  15. I recently picked up a mainland river front parcel on top of a high cliff. I love looking down on water. Have not had mainland in many, many years so its fun with the generous prim allowance!

Then there are the Linden Homes. *Groans*  I have a self-diagnosed illness I call Bellyitis.

I simply cannot give up some amazing parcels I have landed since Belli started. Even though I don't live in them, I can't give them up. I love decorating and redecorating them, and when I let a pretty good one go, I always regret it. A few days ago I upped yet another alt to search for the perfect Fantasy parcel (even though I hate the tiny windows).

    Like I said, Bellyitis.  🥴

Just the thing for your Fantasy landscaping needs!  This giant 'shroom (the large one is the size it comes in) is only 1 LI and is copy/mod, hence its smaller companion, also 1 LI.  From Fae Fantasy Creations, to be found here:  https://marketplace.secondlife.com/stores/26179

That is so pretty Leora! I went on the MP store you posted but had difficulty identifying them amid all the other items. Can you tell me what are they named?

If you've been using them before just go to "Places", then "Teleport History", then type in the first few letters of "Sandbox". As Firestorm's default, "If it wasn't in Viewer 1 it's scary," interface doesn't give you a "Places" button, you can go to "World" - "Places" and call it up that way.

No can do with a new system 🙁
