Morph Picture [comments ans suggestions welcome]

So I use to do profile pictures for users on IMVU which was really big there, and when I joined here I was told that Morph pictures were very popular. I decided to give it go.  If your interested in one comment here or give me a IM and we'll chat.

Some people really really like them, to others they are really creepy. Kinda like those baby dolls that look lifelike? or china dolls..or clowns. It is like the uncanny valley of AI I think, it repulses some. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uncanny_valley

However, like I said, some people really are into it and there is obviously work and talent involved in the creation of them.

Not a fan myself and always important to ensure you have relevant IP permissions over the image you use to morph it with.  I know some people like them though, so perhaps set up a Flickr if you haven't already so people can see your work

I couldnt have said it better. And it is ALOT of work that goes into it. Just another form of Digital Art in my opinion.

Do morph-makers have written permission from the photographers of the original images, to use their copyrighted work?

I think I can guess the answer to that.

At least make sure you're using stock images instead of swiping them off the net. That's just insulting to the people who own the images.

I agree.

I can appreciate the time investment and creative slant of Morphing, but its still feels a lttle odd.  taking a photo of a real man or woman and pasting a toons face on it.  errr.  Not for me.  To each his own.  Thats not to say that I haven't found myself impressed with a few of the complete images.  I have. I think its really just a matter of taste.  Morphing isnt for me.

What bothers me mostly is when its used for ads. I've even see it used for skin ads!
