From what I understand, the Kristen viewer is the preferred 'tool' for good photography.  There are also many secondlife blogs related to photography --in addition to this forum.  Read some of the categories of the forum and perhaps you will be able to glean a few tips.  Again, the SL blogs are your best friend when it comes to photography.

Hi,

If you want to become a photographer you need to learn how to use gimp (gimp is free: www.gimp.org) or photoshop or any of other graphic  applications. There are classes classes for example in Photolife group in Second Life: http://photolifephotostudio.wordpress.com/ I found them the most organised when I searched for photo classes. Of course there can be other groups and maybe other Residents can add more information about it.

There are some basic classes sometimes in different schools. Have a look at events: http://secondlife.com/community/events/

Here are some tips from Torley: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Taking_snapshots

You can find a lot of Second Life photographers' works at Flickr so you can see what are the possibilities.

Good luck. :)

To become a good photographer in SL is not that different in many respects to becoming a good photographer in RL. I think the basic principles are the same. Information regarding composition and the use of light for RL photography for instance are also valid in SL. Perhaps reading up on photography in general is a way to go.
