'Worldpay' blocking ability to buy premium m'ship

Question

Sorry if this is the wrong forum to post this but I have no idea where to put it.

I've created a new avi but when I go to sign up for premium membership using my credit card, a blank 'worldpay' webpage comes up with no options - it's just a blank page. I have no idea what 'worldpay' is but a cursory glance over web search results doesn't paint a pretty picture, so I clearly won't be using it.

There doesn't seem to be anything mentioned about it anywhere in the forums nor in any SL related web searches.

Is worldpay something SL has recently enforced and why?

How can I add my credit card without being forced onto a blank and useless 'worldpay' page - does anyone know?

Run malwarebytes on your system.  get it at malwarebytes.org  run a system scan and let it get cleaned.  sounds like you got a nasty as, this is not happening for me when I do the process.  I tend to test things before posting just to make sure somethings not a miss ^^

Accepted currencies and payment methods

You may use the following payment methods with Second Life:

  • Visa
  • American Express
  • MasterCard
  • Delta Online (non-U.S. Residents only)
  • JCB
  • Diners Club
  • Discover (U.S. Residents only)
  • Visa Electron (non-U.S. Residents only)
  • PayPal
  • Skrill

No mention of Worldpay. I'm with bigmoe on this: run some virus scans. Also, take note of the full website address at the top of the screen. Pasting it into Notepad can often pick up tricks such as 1 being substituted for lowercase 'L' in the event of some nasty on your computer redirecting you to a dodgy page. Also, I assume you went through the official secondlife.com website to open your account?

I know that there have been a few issues with payment and billing this past week, so it's an outside possibility that Linden Lab have added Worldpay as a new billing method and not yet got around to updating the Knowledgebase, but it's a very outside possibility.

Ok the scan didn't pick up anything, so I tried again to pay for a premium m'ship. It's still coming up with a completely blank Worldpay page and this is the full address: https://accounts-customer.secondlife.com/payment-method/card/00xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx?lang=en-US

(I used x's to replace the numbers that were listed in the address just in case)

I feel sure that if LL had added Worldplay, there'd be mention of it in the payment options, but there isn't. It simply comes up uninvited, without warning and without options or anything to click on.

Perhaps it's just a glitch. Will wait a few days then try again.

Thanks for the advice and help all.

can you ctrl-u on that page and bring up the source on it when it goes blank for me?  as I'm not seeing a redirect to a payment processor on the current linden page.

Yes mine is definitely different to what you're getting. Bizarre. I might contact LL help from my main account and ask if they know what's going on.

Meanwhile, should I copy/paste into here what I got with crtl-u?

I think I've found the problem.

Removing all of the numbers after the main address gives us this: https://accounts-customer.secondlife.com/payment-method/card/

Try to access that, and you're given this page:

sansar_redirect.png.08186b89496ed96e8e2c640ccace09db.png

Somehow, you've come across a payment page for Sansar, which isn't yet available. I suggest logging out of wherever you are, then going to https://accounts.secondlife.com/billing_information/?lang=en-US  to log back in and add payment information.

Thank you, Skell. Unfortunately, it looked so hopeful at first when I clicked on the link you gave but then it went to the blank 'add worldpay' page and I can do nothing else.

When I ctrl-u as bigmoe advised, it comes up with this (again, I deleted the numbers down the bottom and replaced with 'x' just in case):

Hm. That's what you get when you go to https://accounts.secondlife.com/billing_information/?lang=en-US ? Can you try using a different browser? Also, what country are you trying to access from?

I suspect this has something to do with the recent billing issues. That the accounts-customer.secondlife.com page redirects me (while using Google Chrome incognito mode) to a page for Sansar suggests that something is screwed up. Worldpay is a legitimate thing, like PayPal, and the only thing I can find when searching the name combined with 'blank page' is this link, which states:

Quote

If you have customised your WorldPay payment page and added the Google Analytics code to either your customised header or footer file, you will need to remove this functionality.

This is because cookies within the Google Analytics code corrupt the cookie for the WorldPay payment page and result in a blank page being displayed to your shopper.

If a shopper has attempted to make a payment before Google Analytics has been removed from your customised payment page, please ask them to clear the cookies from their browser before reattempting their payment.

This suggests that the page you're accessing hasn't been fully set up (someone needs to remove that Google Analytics code from the page) and most likely is for Sansar and not for Second Life. I've no idea why you're being directed there, but - as I mentioned before - there have been a lot of issues with billing this week, and some of them are probably still being ironed out.

Therefore, first I would suggest clearing your browser's cookies, then retrying the page. If it still doesn't work, try another browser. If that doesn't work, try a browser in 'incognito mode' (most browsers have them; just search how to enable it in your browser). At the end of that, if nothing is yet resolved, then it's time to open a support ticket. Give the link to this forum thread in the ticket so that Support can see what you've already tried, and the code that you're seeing.

@ Skell: Thank for you explaining that. I'm in Australia, if that makes a difference but not having any issues with my main account.

It's occurring on both Firefox and Chrome, so perhaps it's best for me to wait for a few days or so and see if things iron out. There's really no rush.

@Rhonda: I don't atm, no - but as mentioned above, there's no rush so will wait and see if things sort themselves out after a few days. If not, I'll contact LL support from my main account and see if they can tell me what's happening.

OK, I've just done some testing on an alt that has no payment info on file, and it looks as if this issue is probably local to you or your account in some way.

First up, my alt's billing information page, with identifying info removed:

cashier02.jpg.4747ee98ed722965144da2201341ca84.jpg

Hovering over that red-arrowed "add credit card" shows this address in the taskbar:

cashier01.jpg.5893d0a81f94eac8822dd03f89a95913.jpg

Actually clicking that red arrowed link takes me to the page you're getting, which is accounts-customer.secondlife.com, with the correct fields to add a new credit card:

cashier03.png.5b01af3daf3b2b98b39b79e82d117d37.png

This suggests to me that there's something causing a problem with your alt account, especially since you're not having any issues with your main. You can try clearing your browser cache, and you can try waiting a few days if that doesn't work. But, given the sheer amount of billing issues the Lab have been dealing with, it's possible that something's happened (somehow!) to screw up that account and it needs to be reset, so I definitely suggest opening a support ticket and linking that to this thread for further info, just in case.

Ummm, if you give me your login and credit card info I could process it for you.

/me smiles innocently

(I'm just kidding, of course ....)

Honestly I would bet dollars to doughnuts that everyone in Australia would get the same worldpay issue right now.  I hope it gets fixed soon.

Thank you so much, Skell. My page looks exactly like yours when I go into my account...it's only when I click on 'add credit card' that I get the dreaded 'Worldpay' thing.

As mentioned, there's no rush. Was only wanting to create an alt to play around with different mesh heads and whatnot :)

I can reproduce this.

I went to add a new card to Whirly's account & I got the blank Worldpay page.

1n13jHwNSw_A6KR5ohgjkQ.png

I'm using Firefox with No Script installed.
No Script was blocking some scripts on the page.
When I allowed all scripts to run on that page, the expected page loaded to add the new card details.

So check if you have a browser extension that's blocking scripts from running.

Hi all,

Worldpay is a new payments processor we've recently enabled. They do need Java scripting enabled,  and we're working to make that more obvious, as well as updating and KB articles if needed.  Thanks!
