Syo Emerald
You can't see their avatar when they are around you. Their body disapears for you.

Lucretia Brandenburg
Most viewers have an option to derender temporarily, which is handy if you're taking a picture and someone is in the shot. Easier to derender than edit the avatar out later.
Perrie Juran
I haven't tested it myself but a side benefit I have been told is it can increase your frame rate in crowded places. One thing to remember is that once you derender someone, unless you use temporary derender, they stay derendered forever unless you remove them from your blocked list. Also you become responsible for the care and feeding of their prim babies.
Hitomi Tiponi
Note that the debug settings of RenderAutoMuteByteLimit and RenderAutoMuteSurfaceAreaLimit enable you to automatically derender avatars with a lot of attachments or a large surface area respectively by setting values. These are useful for improving viewer fps at crowded venues, and does not have the disadvantage of derendering them permanently, as when you reset the values they all reappear. Astrid Kaufmat
I have an itchy finger for derender/mute. derender doesn't mute but just hides that person and related avatar and prims ( good thing for prim hogggers lag makers)
Melita Magic
Whatever you derender is only derendered for you. No one else. People used to tell me oops sorry I derendered something on your property and I'd have to explain that was fine, and why.
HoppytheWanderer
I use derender quite often to fix rendering problems with avatars. Just right click on their tag and do temporary derender, then switch your own group tag to something else and they reappear, usually with the problem cleared up.
