  1. Well be careful because it really is a systemic disease and more than the liver is being damaged. My mom got it from a blood transfusion after a hysterectomy, probably not needed. She ended up dying.
  2. I wish we could tuck him in a little cocoon until the virus dies down more or at least until he's sworn in...lol I keep counting down... approx 74 days until he takes over... It's spiking where I live, and cases are going up everywhere. I can't imagine what it's going to be like when the really cold weather persists.
  3. in Sanskrit, the original language of India, Shanti (peace):
  4. I, myself, have not liked forced busing either. My reasons are simply because it should be voluntary and the child and parents should decide because it's a long ride on that bus...so it should be up to child and parents. Legs are cramped on buses; horrible L.A. rush hour traffic is a nightmare too! Yes, from what I've read it did little good. Whites just moved far, far away into their safe communities (too far for busing), or else put their kids into private schools. I don't know a whole lot about it but there are other solutions to this schooling problem.
  5. If the people have changed (and I believe they have in many respects), then Biden will change.
  6. Eternal vigilance is always the price of liberty. Sure, there's a big fight ahead, but at least we're headed in the right direction again! More DAAAAAAAAAAAANCING!!!!!!!!!! For the first Asian woman vice-pres, with an Indian flavor so dear to my heart:
  7. You're comparing apples to oranges here, and when you do that your conclusions become invalid because your comparison is inaccurate. Sure, on a personal level, if I knew of a Democrat neighbor biching about Republicans not wearing masks yet saw him going maskless I'd cry 'hypocrite'! But when we consider meta-levels, or the big picture, like politics, we have to take more into consideration when crying 'foul', as there are more variables to take into consideration. When you don't include the more complex variables you're not making valid comparisons as the situation you're trying to portray is not so simple. In the age of Trump, refusing the mask has been a form of sacrament, a political-religious symbol that signifies loyalty to Donald Trump and his movement. For the longest time we saw most of the TrumpTrain maskless and mocking those who feared Covid or wore masks, whereas the Dems complied with Scientific evidence and wore masks in far, far, far greater numbers. Therefore it's just not accurate to find only one incident among a 'side' and say "Aha, you're just as bad as the others you hypocrite, gotcha!" because most Democrats always wore them and most Republicans did not -- we need to compare one entire group against another and not use one incident before slandering the entire side as hypocritical. We also need to take into consideration WHY someone is not wearing a mask before judging them and saying they're as bad as the other side -- taking a one-time chance, briefly and in a safe way as all surrounded him wore masks, and doing so for a photo of Biden winning a monumental election where we want to see his face fully for all posterity and the History books, is far different from a Rose Garden massacre where hardly anyone wore masks because Trumpie discouraged them, and with the result of Covid spreading like wildfire among all the participants.
  8. Please, for God's sake, research the segregation issues more. I can guaranfrackingtee you that if a photo of Biden in blackface surfaced he would not be our President-Elect! You have a penchant for making erroneous comparisons -- apples to oranges. To be accurate you need to make fairer comparisons that are more complex via taking into more variables. Biden has plenty of faults to drudge up and he's an annoying neoliberal, but the fact that he has faults cannot be used to prove he's as bad as Trump...or that progressives turn a blind eye to his record. Clearly some politicians are far worse than others. I mean, autocracy and a fundamental position of 'us against them'??! Do you even have an idea what Democracy is?
  9. Like Jackie Chan said, there are no bad students, just bad teachers.. The problem is, there is bad teachers claiming to be teaching the word.. They use things like, You'll burn in hell forever..Nope, you'll just be taken out of the book of life which means to not exist anymore.. How can you burn forever if you don't exist anymore? You'd pretty much still have to have eternal life to burn forever if that were the case.. You can't have eternal life without eating from the tree of life which is on the other side of making it passed judgement .. hehehe Haha Ceka, if you'd been in Bible school as a kid you'd be one of students I've heard about who totally freaked out the Bible studies teacher and gave them massive headaches! What! -- a child thinking logically with better critical thinking skills and confusing the teacher A question for you -- why do you think you were able to develop critical thinking skills while others immersed in some religions are more easily able to ignore logic?
  10. Interesting, I was just reading about voting within the Latinx population, and we really need to keep an eye on this. Looks like 30% went Republican this year. Yet another faction of those 70 million who voted for Trump and don't seem to mind authoritarian governments (if they indeed knew that's what they were voting for). Another group to consider of those 70 million are the conservatives Lil referred to -- the non-religious ones. They exist in my area of the country too, and their concerns relate basically big business. They have money and feel those who are poor deserve to be so because they just didn't pull those boot straps up hard enough. They don't consider any societal barriers making it difficult for some or have any inclination to make it easier for 'the least among us'. Usually they believe in hierarchy and consider this to be fair, as each individual is seen as totally responsible for earning their place in a hierarchical, stratified society.
  11. People need to research Biden's role in segregation...it's not like he wanted to keep the races separate with some kind of racist notion....he believed it was dangerous at that time. And it was! Researching my area of the country there were knifings on buses back then, and more. Plus, busing segregation did little good...it has been a failure...the situation is a mess...and Biden had better ways to mix everybody together but nobody listened. I don't like neoliberals...and Biden is a neoliberal. So was Obama. But yes, getting rid of someone leading us into authoritarianism and who preaches an 'us vs them' philosophy is a very good thing! Goodbye! I remember when Obama won and I angered a friend by sending a video parody of people genuflecting and worshipping Obama. I was making fun of those who seemed to think the Messiah had arrived -- it was pretty crazy during that time period and you'd think heaven on earth had arrived for some of them. I was enthused due to the breaking of racial barriers, but in economic reality Obama governed as the neoliberal he was and did very little to advance causes for minorities specifically, save for providing more health care for some. Should I blame him for not being the radical I wished he had been, or that he possibly was? If he had advanced the causes I wished, no doubt he'd have lost his position of power. Did he sell out, or was he just following the will of the people as well as doing what would afford him the power he desired? I believe the president reflects the platform and officials of their party, and the party only builds a platform with objectives they believe the people want. So we can't really blame the president (though I surely like to 'punch up' at times and post silly president pics). Ultimately though, we need to place the blame on ourselves for not getting the society we believe is best.
  12. The church (many of them) is very patriarchal, and there's nothing more patriarchal than fascism. By patriarchal I mean structuring a society so there are levels, usually with males at the head, and groups are always needed on the bottom to stomp down. It's the natural way to be, like the lobster society republican Jordan Peterson loves:
  13. Even knowing a little bit about all this I'm sure they think the US is a very strange place Did you say you took a restraining order out on her? I've known people whose family members were 'lost' to these evangelical cults and they had to disengage totally.
  14. You're being ridiculous. He's the main star...we want to see his face as his win is announced. He put his mask back on when he walked off stage. Likewise, Kamala took her mask off when she was center stage.
  15. That would not be a fun experience, to say the least. On a positive note, I did hear on CNN that Trump lost some evangelical votes this election.
  16. No, that’s not it at all. There are some really intelligent people that support him. The problem is a large percentage of his supporters hate people like you and me for various reasons and their sole purpose is to “own you” and troll you, just to see you upset. It’s schadenfreude...now you’re happy, there going to be at it again, clinging to the ridiculous hope that this election was rigged. The vain hope that this will somehow reach the Supreme Court. I have met the cult types, and they are creepy. Many of them have decent jobs so they aren't part of the deprived rural areas necessarily. They like having a strong leader who makes life simple for them via following rigid rules and creating a sense of belonging. But I don't know what makes people exhibit the sadism you describe and feel it's okay to take out their pain on other people -- for either the cult types or the type you describe who are impoverished due to economic deprivation. We all have an inner fascist, but some see a better way where we try to get along and want to facilitate justice as much as possible... as opposed to dominating others and being threatened by people not like ourselves. Of course that little inner fascist tends to come out more when we're in pain, but again, some blame others for their pain while others manage to grieve without blaming life or others.
